Who's here in 2024 🎉 Jack Irons’ drumming on this track is just fantastic. Honestly, he’s probably my favourite Pearl Jam drummer. The grooves he brought to the PJ era were just unbelievably good.
How can you not know Hail, Hail? This song is one of the best on No Code and, for me personally, one of their best songs ever (Top 20 at least). Jeff's bass tone sounds especially spectacular here. Thanks for posting this.
That’s why they put out a billion live records on Sony Music for all of the concerts they did in the early 2000 ‘s. They toured the world and put out a CD for every single concert, recorded in beautiful quality. I worked for the record label at the time and have a large majority of them (if not all)… I don’t know if you can still buy them, but all of them sound the same because they are ridiculously professional with how amazing and on point they are every night! I have seen so many live shows, and I think with the really well paid bands that most people know of, Pearl Jam and Radiohead are the top two best performers that are consistent every show (but unfortunately Eddie Vedder’s voice is not much good anymore, in the year 2021... no shame in that at all… He has been in the game for a very long time and put out so many solid shows that put most vocalists to absolute shame!).
It is very interesting and weird at same time to notice that how the personality of eddie vedder changed and the best part was his fans stayed true to him. We all love eddie vedder and we can't thank enough that he still exist
If possible, this is my favorite Pearl Jam song, especially staying in a relationship for years I knew was wrong. "Like-minded on the run in a race that can't be won" is Eddie's best line EVER.
No Code may be my favorite. I listened to it on a long road trip from Utah to Montana in my disc man when I was maybe 11 years old. I took the album from my brother. The album has been special to me ever since.
@@yvonnesurette I guess it is some of their fans that soured the experience. However, I saw Pearl Jam in 2022 in Louisville at Bourbon and Beyond with family after a 19 year hiatus and it was very emotional and wonderful. Will always love Pearl Jam in spite of some of my history with fans...
steevzstubs I think Jeff Ament is the most underrated, but the real fans just don't see Eddie right there, they see the whole band, I mean, this band it's like a family that we all respect, appreciate and love
With the exception of drummers -.- (Jack and Dave A. being my favs) ... they really are a rare thing... together for this long and literally I believe they're touring in Italy as I type this.
Seen PJ over 25 times around the US and Canada. They always sounded amazing and always threw in different songs and rare songs/b sides etc to keep it fresh for the ppl that followed them on tour. I can't say enough, still to this day, how blown away I am by them and how good they sounded throughout all these years. From a teenager to a grown ass man this is the one band that has been a constant in my life and im fucking grateful for it.
Yeah I hear you man... The energy Pearl Jam put out during the early 90s was amazing. I remeber when I first watched the Pinkpop concert they did...I was so blown away. But now they're still good but not even close to what they used to be
@@samout321Matt is a rock drummer. Nothing more. Jack was a percussionist. Jack could do many more things that Matt can't. Cameron can't even play In My Tree or Who You Are even close to correctly.
@@toddrichardson8595 Rock drumming is NOT about playing as many notes per second as you are capable of. It´s about how you feel the music, and you work for the whole. Jack didn´t accept that, and tried to be the most loud instrument at any cost, which shows total absence of this feeling. Just listen to the MTV unplugged - everyone in the band accepted this is acoustic concert, so the style of playing the instrument has to be different. Jack didn´t, he just smashed the drums like he was playing Maracana stadium, and murdered the whole performance (this is the one and only PJ concert I can´t listen to, simply because it´s completely ruined by the drummer). Or let´s put it this way - do you think that Ringo, Charlie Watts or Stuart Copeland are one of the greatest drummers of all time because they were loud, and played many notes? No, they just did exactly what whas needed to make Beatles, Stones and The Police music great. And that´s the point that has never crossed Jack Irons´s mind.
I'm a drummer of about 25 years, and used to cover them in high school in 92. Dave's playing was like lightning. The tempo was awesome and his timing and changes were amazing. I think PJ had an internal problem with Dave and they hired Jack. Jack kept them together, though his playing wasn't so good on the early stuff... very sloppy actually, but on this song he sounds good because PJ built it around his abilities. Matt is great on his own stuff, but not so much on Dave's or Jack's stuff.
Yeah, I totally agree. My favorite band ever. I love this song, and it's pretty awesome live. It's also funny to see how young Mike, actually EVERYONE, looks.
After DL at :15 introduces them this song literally explodes out of my speakers. This is the best version of this song - it is on the verge of being a Punk Rock song. Also in interviews they have said that Jack Irons was the best drummer of Pearl Jam. He brings an real sense of urgency and energy to the band, that Pearl Jam has since lost. Or maybe just they are older and different now. Still great.
Yeah! Jack n Dave were just awesome for the styles they had for the albums they were on. Love Irons' work on Yield, and Dave gave Vs. the drive that it has.
Hunter Edmonds I don't know. I think Stone was happy with Ed from day 1. I think that's why they chose Ed: He brought all eyes to him, and he existed comfortably in the spotlight so the rest of the band could just make great music. Pearl Jam never seems like a band who cares much about who gets credit or who has the power. They are just good workers, and they like working together. I don't see jealousy or pettiness in their eyes.
i love how much dave genuinely loves pearl jam
Fun fact:He gave them their introduction when inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
The only band that has ever existed that I could listen for years, more or less on daily basis.
It's like I discover a great song of theirs every week even though I've been listening for years
Don't rate them. 😜
