The Star Brand is the name of a number of similar fictional comic book objects of power all of which exist in the multiverse created by the shared universes of Marvel Comics. Two of these Star Brands have been prominently featured in two separate series published by Marvel.

Starbrand's power is essentially "Whatever power and power level the plot needs it to be" pre-retcon.
Post-retcon it became, "Whatever power level the plot needed it to be"
If star brand is so powerful then how was the beyonders able to kill him. Also thanos with the heart of the universe was able to beat the Living Tribunal how is starbrand stronger than that. From what I understand The Living Tribunal was the forth strongest in the Marvel Multiverse.
KratosLink he’s not saying starbrand is the most powerful character in comics just that whenever he appears his power fluctuated to fit whatever story he is in and help turn things in his sides favor. Obviously the living tribunal would body him the living tribunal is beaten by very few characters and the heart of the universe made thanos god basically so ofc he would beat him I’m fairly certain thanos would either defeat or give starbrand a hell of a fight without any buffs. Just re read it I think u read the context wrong.
@@53eric53 dont worry Starband isnt the most powerful being or such thing. Even Doom with Starbrand power still loses to King Thor with Phoenix. Starband is a big boy but theres other big boys who is above him/her.
@@53eric53 Well Starbrand is a plot device. For ex: Ereshkigal an deviant woman, went multiversal with the Starbrand and even maked the Living Tribunal fear her, because of the brand. Then this year Starbrand went against Old man Doom Pheonix force and lose. In Hickman Avengers run, Starbrand was captured by Morgana Le Fay and could not escape her trap. In conclusion. Starbrand=plot power device.
@@53eric53 I suspect it's because the source star brands power is still OF the marvel omniverse. But beyonder is the sum of all things beyond the multiverse (virtually limitless space) so pre retcon beyonder was I think it was either a million or a thousand times more powerful than the sum of all the marvel multiversal. So he simply transcends starbands realm of power.
If Blue Marvel and Sentry are too powerful, than Starbrand definitely is. But all 3 of them deserve much more appearances and character development than they're currently getting.
Yeah Blue Marvel is too op
And as an actor, I could play Blue Marvel in the MCU.
Wut
I agree. Marvels street level and mid range characters are already so developed and have intriguing stories. With they need to do is hire good ass writers and make them write stories on Blue marvel, starbrand and sentry plus hulks forgotten son Hiro Kala. Create cool villians and do some out of this world shit
@@nevilleevergreens6522 Yep. Like an old box of Cream Of Wheat😒
YES! FINALLY I GET RECOGNIZED!
Star Brand ma dude.
Congrats
Lol
@Tha Deakon Of course I'm here. I'm always here. A Star Brand is Earth's defense system.
@@starbrand3726 how was ghost riders death stare
The MCU could still use Starbrand.
To cap him, the MCU would simply say the power itself is limitless but the host, Kevin Connor, is still a teenage boy so his body can't handle it. He _could_ fight off Galactus wielding the Heart of the Universe and the Ultimate Nullifier... but the power output would burn him out in the process and kill him. The Builders only care if the massive threat is defeated. If the host dies in the process it doesn't matter. Thus, the tension comes from whether the Avengers would push a kid to kill himself for the sake of the world and if the boy would be willing to use his power knowing the consequence.
The MCU has already used guilt as a motive for character behaviours (Iron Man and Ultron). A possible after-effect of Kevin's death could be the Avengers obsessively hunt down other meta-humans - mutant, magician, inhuman or otherwise - to bolster their numbers. "We lost a good kid because we weren't prepared and didn't have the manpower" could be the rationale. This introduces new heroes into the fold. SWORD could be established with Cpt. Marvel as the leader. That way, Earth is never caught unawares again.
I like that concept
I feel like it would be killing a character for nearly nothing. The hero and threat dies so the movie just becomes Stark makes ultron to not have to sacrifice kids again villian in the next movie or something. It's a trope that closes itself like silver surfer in F42. It solves itself making the issue and story a panic attack of the characters, unless you Thanos people out of the story.
I personally don't like it. Doesn't leave much on a basic level. People have to die, or something more must come from it, but must not be a self fixing problem.
Have you ever heard of Marvel's miracle man A.K.A marvel man.
@@furyberserk The Starbrand as a concept is a "self-fixing problem" so I don't know why you're complaining.
@@TheMrretro5 who's that? Same guy as Wonder man?
He wouldn't be OP for the MCU, he'd be the perfect convenience for a plot device.
Starbrand Ex Machina.
In theory , in reality , his power levels is equal to the threat , as long the brand in itself is stronger.
In short , even if the brand in itself is strong than Thor , the user will have the same power level as Thor.
If the new villain had a power superior to the brand in itself , Starbrand would access 100% of his powers.
It's actually way better than Sentry , which IS "his powers is what the plot demands".
So the Starbrand is essentially the Answer to the Sentry, if the Sentry is so powerful that he can't beat by anyone, Starbrand would be powerful enough to beat him
Not true, Starbrand CAN be defeated and more recently he died to Ghost rider.
@@cheeseburgerfreddy6350 through the penance stare which is exclusive to a rider
@CHEESE BURGER FREDDY
@Jeffrey Aviles, that's true but if Starbramd never sinned he would have one
@@jeffreyaviles8306 Yeah but Robbie never had it as he was never a real spirit of vengeance so it's weird that he has it now
@@cheeseburgerfreddy6350 regardless he has it which is my point
Here’s the thing with Cyclops, IF he had a ruby quartz fish bowl head like Mysterio and every area inside was the same, wouldnt his beam basically flood and entire area in all 360 degrees??
hmmm
it would refract the beams interally and fry his damn head wdym
But Beast says in Xmen: Apoc the ruby quartz keeps the beams in their own vector(directional) fields so wouldn’t they just go outward just with maybe less direct intensity besides straight forward when he gets that big X visor bein bad the beams broaden out a lot wider
So basically star brand is the marvel comics version of a douche price is right contestant
I bid 350 drew
Next guy:
Hmm... I’ll bid 351 drew
I miss omega/beyond omega level characters. I love Starbrand, he is so cool
Agreed, I think they might bring his back in the future since they hinted at him heavily in Avengers #10

Too Powerful for the MCU: Protege. Come on Rob.
Protege is so broken lmao
I love the Protege he's so OP
Protege is the most broken of all. I really wish there was more of him besides the one comic.
He's already done protege just not in this series, but it's self explanatory looool
@@thorodinson4815 same the way they neutralised him was the most pathetic plot I've ever read, they literally used ex machina but I assume they had no idea how to end him which is trash writing because I think of a million ways to end the story.

Yep. You get it. They are extremely powerful. Every single one of them.
@@oalonzoa1745 and i hear it was a complete joke when black widow can go beat on of them?
They had 2 legit appearances calm down and again there was context behind it. Thanos was taking out most of the heavyhitters and hulk was taken out by the weapon.

Oh man, I loved Marvel's NEW UNIVERSE from back in the day. Starbrand, D.P. 7, and Psi-Force were my favorites.
So, Starbrand pretty much has the power of the main character. XD

Too Powerful For Marvel Movies: Squirrel Girl
She's a joke gone too far, and it needs to stop
😑
I am sure the invisible woman could just shut off Squirrel Girls and her rodent friends optic Nerves and suffocate her so she's not that powerful.
FACTUAL STATEMENT
she's supposed to be in the MCU already. We're just waiting for New Warriors to get on the air.
@@charleslee8313 New Warriors isn't Part of Earth-199999, the MCU, so she isn't. But yes, Squirrel Girl has come way to far then she deserves and should. She's cute but she shouldn't interact with all the other heroes, like Ms. Marvel.
Still got all the Star brand Issues from new Universe.
WE like to call him the Baby beyonder. lol
I bought New Universe comics off spinner racks when they came out. StarBrand, DP7, and Justice were my favorite.
My love for those AND Ellis made New Univeral another story I was into.
Thanks for going back and completing the update on this part of the Avengers story.
Hell yes, another OG fan! I got mine off spinner racks too! Well one in particular haha.
Justice and Starbrand were really cool the way they were entirely about (very) flawed ppl with powers. And of course DP7 was amazing too, and I also liked Psy-Force more than one should have haha.
I wish it was more popular
Hello old timers
What about Protege from Earth-691? To make it super short he is Golden Amazo, as in he copies powers including those of the Gods or Demon Lords or, you know, The Living Tribunal but I will leave that there in case people haven't watched your video on it yet.
This guy really deserves a video for this series even if it is kind of short. More people need to know about him.

Way back in high school I had the Star Brand comic book collection. One my rarer collections.
Thanks Rob Starbrand is one of my favorite concepts in comics
Explained perfectly. You are awesome Rob. I’d love for you to do a run down of when Thor, Hyperion and Starbrand fought the Beyonders.
I love starbrand and there is a way they could make the characters work in the MCU but ways of nerfing.but starbrand is awesome when people talk about characters that could take a DBZ character on one of the ones I always bring up his star brand
Rob, perfect video! I was so excited when I saw this video pop up, my wife thought we'd won the lottery. Thanks for this!
I was looking around youtube for info on starbrand. Thank god I found this. Great work man!
I don't even know what to do anymore. Ever since I hear about Stan Lee passing
So cosmic armour superman vs starbrand.... Would be a fight out of this world... Plot armour vs plot armour thats broken
IBRAHIM SURTI probs cosmic armour superman after a long drawn-out fight
Cosmic armor one shots for 1 simple kinda unfair reason
DC has layers of infinite infinity dimensions and stuff
Like the bleed contains infinite dimensional areas
Which is contained within the time stream which is basically 4 hyper-dimensional (cause it's beyond infinite dimensional) then there's several other things of equally increasing power then you get to the monitorsphere which at this point any being within the monitorsphere could kill all the Beyonders with a snap of their fingers sort of power
DC is way crazier then most people think mr. Mxyzptlk isn't 5D he's 5 hyper-D so like infinite^3-5 dimensional or something like that
Marvel doesn't go beyond infinite dimensions really unlike DC
@@Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz1024 you are incredibly wrong. Marvel also has layers infinite infinity and marvel is actually bigger than dc right now
Thank you Rob. Great channel and fun content.
Yo dude you have the super power of me being able to fast forward in your videos after ive already watched them and it literally still entertains me when im able to fast forward ur voice to a certain point in the vid and still be listening continuously lmao
Hey Rob,I think its time to dive in deeper into the Marvel Max imprint, titles like Destroyer or Fury MAX are really fascinating,I also think it's time to explore other marvel imprints like Epic Comics and Icon Comics, idk just some thoughts and ideas ,love your videos!
Rob... Do a video of how you would introduce namor, Nova, and sentry into the mcu please. Like you did for X-men ff and your DCEU ideas. Thanks keep up the good work
I've never heard of this guy- that's why I love this channel. You da man Rob.
Thank you for these informative videos
If protege saw starbrand use his power would they get just that percentage of power or would they get the full force of starbrand
If starbrand goes against Batman with 100% of his power Batman gets 110% chance of defeating him
Percentages only go to 100
@@GM-ew4fv Clearly you have no idea who Batman is...
Why, though? Because he's Batman!
The brand would nuke him. Ground zero right in the bats personal space. No knocked through time decoy just straight up Hiroshima shadows.
Seems legit.
Great video to start my day thanks Rob
I love your videos man. I kept seeing him in comics with heavy cosmic heroes but I had no idea who he was or what his power were. Thank you!!!
Too powerful for the MCU: Cosmic Ghost Rider.
Again, holy shit that last chapter!!😱😱😱
What about Starbrand vs. Protege? Who'd win in that fight since one is basically infinite power and the other can imitate their abilities and become their equivalent, if not greater? But then Starbrand would power-up to match and so would Protege.
The Starbrand is "A brand granting the bearer infinite power, limited in application only by their imagination." Therefore all he would need to do is imagine that he could snap Protege out and he could. There was even an account of the Tribunal locking a universe away from all others due to the wielder using the Brand to such an extent that it was beyond the universe Infinity Gems and beyond the Tribunal. Removing the universe from the rest of the multi-verse was the only thing he COULD due; due to not even being able to stop or destroy the wielder once they fully understood their power with it.
@@JohnnyStaffiles but wouldn't Protege just imagine himself reviving afterwards? Self resurrection is possible in Marvel
Johnny Staffiles same with protege hecopied the powers of the living tribunal then was going to copy the one above alls powers but something happened
@@Kloutkulture Yeah, what happened was bullshit. That was the biggest asspull I have ever seen in Marvel comics history
Great vid! I actually have ideas for a vs video. Mangog vs doomsday, I just want to see what when an unstoppable force meets the immovable object. Next is Gorr vs Larfleeze, Both can make constructs and both can bring them to life.
Matthew Malloy with the cosmic control rod, Franklin Richards with the infinity gauntlet, Jim Jaspers, Silver Surfer with the Phoenix Force, Thor's hammer, fallen one powers, Sentry serum powers, and Captain Universe powers, Thanos with a dozen cosmic cubes, and Galactus vs Dr Doom Starbrand.
You're telling me Dr Doom Starbrand wins by 1%.
Dang.
No I'm pretty sure Franklin Richards could warp reality so that starbrand wouldn't be basically omnipotent
You should do a video on the easiest way to gain super powers in the DC and Marvel universe
That would be the shortest video ever because the way to get super powers is dependent upon the writer.
Watch at half speed for Robs friday night after party version.
Epic video btw.. loved every min, good research. This is my new favorite hero I think, unbeatable
Hey Robert... It's me again. I requested for you to cover starbrand so many times years ago back when you were marvel explained. . . I always felt like you just ignored my comment and so I really stopped asking you for starbrand content. With the release of this video I really want to thank you so much for taking the time to make it. I know you don't have a big interest in starbrand so I respect you so much for creating this video. Thank you Rob.
Infinity power x 50% is still infinity power
Marcus Heit that’s actually explained in the original starbrand comic series in new universe.
"10 percent of infinity is still infinity" something similar at least.
Id like to see too powerful for MCU Darwin. I know fox had Darwin but that was bullshit. I mean the real Darwin who really cant be killed because he adapts
I actually collected the New Universe titles when they came out. In the original telling the White Event was caused when Kevin Conner (I know the wikipedia says differently but I think it's wrong- or at least it's been retconned) tried to place the Star Brand on a metal dumbbell, resulting in the White Event which destroyed everything centered on the city of Pittsburgh in a 15 mile radius. Definitely OP in its original incarnation as far as cosmic powers goes, even by Marvel terms...
Always love when you throw that Batman shade @ComicsExplained

Hey, Rob! I would love it if you reviewed Lobo vs Santa for the upcoming holiday season. It was one of the craziest comics my older brother owned. Just a humble request. Great work as always!
Lol, dont forget that Ghost rider killed StarBrand with the Penance stare.
Kind of , Starbrand killed Himself
Jamison Sims remember he sinned.
If his power depends on his opponent, I have questions.
How did he level a fleet of ships? What dictates "an opponent"?
And does he have a baseline level of power/abilities (as the original flew around both on earth and in space from the images I found) or does it depend on the user?
I learned something new today! I like the Starbrand idea and now I wanna read it! Mission accomplished Rob!

When i finished watching Infinity War with my friends i told them how powerful the Black Order from the comics was,and they literally dropped their jaws, especially when i told them about Supergiant xD

Nah the MCU needs to make Blue Marvel into a movie. We hope he’s not too powerful for the MCU.

Well he is and only if they need him hard then I don’t think we will be seeing Adam in the mcu anytime soon
Yeah he is very powerful, but I think he can work in the MCU if they focus on the Ultimates storyline since he’s able to fight in space. I would love to see that movie.
Didn’t he get rekt by ghost rider?
Yes.
Yes , but remembers , Starbrand =/= the brand
Even if the brand is stronger , as long he face Ghost Rider , it will be in the same power level.
I was a huge fan of Marvel's New Universe. I would love to see you dive into it more! Like the OG one specifically
By my memory it didn't cross over with the main universe at all, that was one of the really cool things about it. Also the compelling thing about starbrand was the poor way he handled the powers, not the powers themselves.
The panel everyone shares around as a crossover, where a bunch of Marvel characters are running away from starbrand and the old man fighting - in the story that fight is happening at a comic convention surrounded by cosplayers.
Loving the series so far.
8:49 why are you using the fortnite thanos?
hello world so they don't reuse images or they just showed us the three iterations of thanos in one video and now the world will end.
hello world because he can get over it.
starbrand sounds very similar to Captain Universe.
I had a very similar thought! I feel like not having these do battle somehow somewhere is a missed opportunity.
Starbrand is on a higher scale
There's other ways to foil a character like StarBrand, mostly in character writing. Make him a little like Saitama, but maybe more depressed and disinterested. "Thanos is here again? Wake me up when there's actually something for me to do." type response. Or maybe he purposefully holds back for the fun of it, or is a big bully to the bad guys. There's interesting ways to foil a Deus ex Machina character without power caps or practical limitations.
What if Batman secretly is a Meta?
Perhaps possessing a probability altering field.
That would explain why he always wins and is capable of accomplishing the seemingly superhuman feats he does.
And if it was an ability he was unaware of and a passive one at thag, it would explain why he doesn't use it on the regular.
Look what he did with Metron's chair.
his parents probably wouldn't have died then lol
@@TheGenchannel
But if they didn't die, we'd get Flashpoint Batman and the Joker. (possibly)
So I guess in that case THAT Bruce would be the one without a latent, probability altering meta-gene.

Will you please do a break down of Thor #6: Old King Thor with the Phoenix Force vs Ghost Rider sorcerer supreme Doom with the Starbrand
If I recall the original white event was caused by trying to transfer the Starbrand to an inanimate object. Some kind of time travel was invovled too, somehow. Warren Ellis imposed more order, made it make more sense.
Hickman just reached back pulled it all forward. He even reasoned why there was no Justice (system was broken). The new Ultimates used the Troubleshooters, DP7, and some aspects of Justice. (Tensen). I love when they bring back old stuff in s new way.
From what i understood about the marvel multiverse, was that it started because the TOAA recognized that there was a flaw in the original universe, and he allowed the celestials to essentially cause it's destruction and then TOAA used the celestials and the HOTU to rectify that flaw, in consequence create the multiverse (And eternity of the original universe merged with Galan, to escape the destruction of said universe, and ended up creating Galactus)... So it sounds to me that everyone except the builders is right.
You should do a video on red goblin or the time wolverine became the dark Phoenix (Or anything with Constantine and or sandman)
