man, i use 6a. i thought all these network issues that people are talking about is kind of because they reside in poor cellular connected areas until i faced it myself. i couldn't connect call whereas a 10k realme phone had no issues receiving/making calls. i did evey troubleshooting i know but it did nothing. i came out of that area and boom, everything was working fine then. Pixel need to work on their modem. and don't get me started about 5g network, i stopped using 5g because it heats up quickly and sometimes it becomes unusable, network is always low on 5g. I really do love pixel software and camera but sometimes they do overprocess. After using pixel, now i know why iphone is so popular, it's clearly a more complete product. I'm a pixel fanboy but maaaaaaan, you can't mess with a phone's brain and substitute that with AI.

As a Pixel 6 user, I'm both happy and sad with what they're doing it.
    - Limiting the Pro camera just to the 8 Pro makes no sense
    - Boasting AI in the chipset and then uploading everything to the cloud for the processing makes no sense (you can get the same shit w Google One if you really need it on any phone)
    - Still not solving the modem, throttling/efficiency and the cooling of the device when they are in the 3rd generation is not valid.
My experience w the P6 has been varied.
-While I do not get the best of cellular reception, I've never really had an issue where I've not been able to make a call or receive one, or any other deal breakers of that manner even when I've been travelling, on train, in remote place, etc.
    - The phone does heat up a little but has never caused major issues for me and I found the heating to be on par w the OP 7T (my prev phone)
    - The battery life on the device, especially when connected to mobile data is something that I am not very satisfied with and it kinda sucks to see that they have still not improved much in that aspect two generations later.
    - The camera on the phone has been absolutely fantastic and has been the main redeeming quality which makes me happy w the purchase, though a lack of telephoto does come into picture more often than not as I am someone who prefers the perspective and the reach of telephoto cameras, much more than the regular wide angle camera.
PS. My P6 is a Japanese Variant.

Nice and crisp video, Rohit. Balanced, subtle and to the point.
It's a shame that Google is getting a lot of beating. That Exynos SoC is really putting Google to bad name, but as the saying goes, "Sab ganda hai par dhanda hai" when google's dealing with Samsung.
Hoping things get a little clearer post 2026 when they move to TMSC fabrication. I wished it was in 2025, but they pushed the date to 2026.

I am using the Pixel 6, almost 1yr and 8 months old.
I have never used 5G with this phone so I don't know, I am in UAE (on Etisalat) so maybe it's that but I don't get 5G in it even when i visited India (maybe because I am still using Vodafone or Vi as it's called now a days).
The phone's experience is unmatched on Android but I do wish I had a slightly smaller phone. Pixel 8 looks like the most finished product to me and seems much better than the Pixel 6&7. I won't be upgrading to it yet since I don't need the Upgrade but that form factor really tempts me sometimes.

Using the 6A, call drops isn't an issue here in Mumbai, but heating and battery drain is constant from day 1. I've started using it on battery saver to get a day's battery on it. Also A14 is not that great of an experience.

Based in Kenya. I had a Pixel 7. Major drawbacks: battery life and network. e.g issues when surfing using data, I had to keep toggling the airplane mode button for it to start working again. Resale value was a challenge, it dropped by half the price after a year. I traded it for the iPhone 14 just because I wasn't sure whether the Pixel 8 had the same issues. I'm tempted to go back to Pixel but only if these issues get fixed, which doesn't seem the case.

Honestly it’s not worth it. After having used the Pixel 2Xl and upgrading to the 7 pro I was disappointed. What many people don’t even talk about is the weird Camera focus delay that occurs when you are switching between lenses. So add 2X of 5X. Even after you waited for a couple of seconds before taking the photo the camera for some reason hasn’t fully switched to the lens and when you press the shutter button and check the photo, It’s this weird water colour painting because it didn’t completely switch to the 5X lens.

Hey thanks for your review. Yeah and here in the States California to be exact they gave such a great trade-in price $450 plus the pixel buds pro and so if you had a seven it was worth trading in to get the eight.
I would say the signal strength seems to be a lot better here than in India from what you're saying but yeah the modem still heats up here at times and the battery life is okay it's not great but it's just okay and I encourage people just to wait for a sale Pixel phones are never worth the price they ask yet launch time and you're right resale is horrible with pixel phones so maybe better just to buy one used.

First reaction towards this year's pixel is some heavy investment in marketing department but not sure if the R&D, manufacturing quality, and after sale services are proportionately improved:
4 years of OS support on Samsung vs 7 on Google is nothing more than a number chasing game that's supposed to justify their price increase with little real world value. We'll see how the overall market responds to the price hike.
It was justifiable back when P4 P4XL used TSMC fab processor and modem, on top of the many cool things that Google was also experimenting, e.g. Soli Radar, hand gesture, AND unlimited photo. Whereas now they have more sales but the economy of scale isn't exactly showing from a customer perspective, let alone many Apple copycat moves like software gating without Apple's QA, after sale services, and resistance to inflation. Perhaps Pixel thinks they've already cornered a market and can start recouping some of the investment but in my book, as a market challenger still, Pixel's pricing is certainly not looking good this year, even when giving Google benefit of the doubt on ads and privacy vs other manufacturers (e.g. Asus, Sony, Lenovo Moto etc.)

Hey what you showed at 2:10 is probably a software bug rather than a hardware issue. The problem occurs when one tries to open Google Photos and the phone is locked. The same thing happens on the Pixel 4a when the phone is locked and there is no lag when the phone is fully unlocked and the sequence is repeated.

Exactly my thoughts on this device. You can only get away just enough with these software marvels that pixel provides. Because at some point or the other, you are going to feel that lack in raw performance specially after spending that much money on it. All the features that Google is talking about are based on cloud and I don’t think these are the capabilities of these devices. It’s more like Google is giving you a free life time subscription of their cloud AI editor with pixel 8(pro) purchase. Another thing that Google is really highlighting on this year is the 7 year software support but my question to that is do you really think this hardware is capable enough to even last that long?

Unless and until they move back their chip fab to tsmc i will not gonna fall back to pixel..lack of raw power isn't an issue with me but niggles like call drop, poor network reception, heating, abysmal battery life are the issues that gonna come haunt me everyday and I'm not gonna spend a bomb to make those problems a part of my everyday life..pixel was not half so bad when they were partnering with Qualcomm...my 3a xl had excellent battery life, no network issue as such..but things started going downhill with Pixel 6 ...it couldn't latch onto the literally next room WiFi signal...it heated up in my pocket for no reason... camera is the only saving grace but again iPhone 15 has got excellent camera this year..gcam works charm on S23...its only after 2025 that I'm gonna give Pixel a try when/ if it's still sold in India then which I doubt
