- Perth Mint's 10 Coin Dragon is a sight to behold, with 9 different classic coloured silver designs and 1... that caught Michael and Reuben a bit off guard! The set features a 1/2oz silver coin that has been plated in gold completely, and the results are a little scary to us!

I would have rather seen them plate the dragon in gold with the rest of the coin in silver.
The lunar three set has a gold plated dragon on a silver background
I don’t think you’re overreacting, I’ve seen a few very cheap gold coins on marketplace recently. And this video tells me why. Thanks guys.
Yes it is worth pointing out. Public service announcement if nothing else.
RainingSocks, yea I agree with you. It definitely is worth pointing out.

I love Bullion Now taking his viewers through to differentiate the products. I won't have a clue if you don't mention it. For that I truly appreciate and please keep the same content coming. Knowledge is power!!
I think that someone on the secondary market will get taken advantage of in the years to come with it being misrepresented as pure gold especially internationally online.
Lovely set there, but not something I would collect myself. Awesome to see the set on your channel and thanks for sharing your thoughts on the _gold_ coin 😂✌🏻
It is a stunning set of coins indeed. But instead of the gold plated coin, I wish they would have maybe put a perfect point with their logo on it. Or something of that nature
Its a nice set..worth a mention i rekn
A big fuss over trifle
indeed !!!
As long as somewhere it is stamped 9999 silver it would be ok.
I got my set from LCS today! 🥳
Woohoo! What do you think of the "gold" coin in there?
I actually quite like the “Gold” coin in this set. Having a gold plated version of the Silver 2024 Lunar Dragon coin looks good, without blowing out the price of the set, and is a unique coin to add to the collection. I see this as a coin collectors set, not a bullion stacking set, and I already have a number of gold plated silver coins in my collection.
But I still would have preferred Perth Mint to have released this 2024 Lunar Dragon set as 1oz coloured coins instead of a 1/2oz set. These coloured Dragon coins look much better in a bigger planchet, as in the single carded Lunar Dragon 1oz silver coloured coins. And Perth Mint had all of their previous Lunar Sets in 1oz coins. So I don’t know why they went with the 1/2oz size. I am OK with paying the difference in price premiums when collecting sets like this.
@@half_a_dozen_mars_bars There's still the three coin set. But yeah, you miss out on the designs on the bigger blank, unless you're in China, where they have the coloured set in 1 oz.
Yes. The Perth mint "goldie" covered silver would be too much for me. My only silver coin is a Berlin WMF 2016 50th Anniversary of Decimal Currency 50c Gold Plated Silver Proof coin and I LOVE it! Cheers guys.

Preay Soon that's all any on will be able too afford
Guilded silver coins, If this keeps up
I got my Wonka cheers, First 5 gram bar thingy I've got good size I reckon
I have the 1oz silver with gold guilding I like that one would have been better in the box in a 1/2 …
fully gold plated don’t like it too many issues in years to come
I think you are making a mountain out of a mound hill 😂 .
It's a gold plated silver mountain. they call it the mole hill.
Ya...I also think of that...he is trying me make those people to have doubts buying it...
I brought the set, boi it looks like a gold coin other than the Ag and how much lighter it is that a 1oz gold, the gilding is perfect. Garantee to fool 99.99% of the population that dont know "Ag" is Silver and have held a 1oz Au gold coin. Love the set likely to be a one and done. So only 3888 in existence
Totally agree, can get a little confusing, not going to start on the 500 different dragon designs coming out of the mints this year….
Maybe a discussion topic for the live stream. I just watch a video from 'silver dragons' and he had a fake 2024 silver lunar dragon!??
How fast do they make them!
I agree guys could have een any other colour
Are they bringi g out a 2024 rectangular coin dragon ?
I saw a "platinum" coin for sale on eBay, it was the silver dragon design, not the design used for platinum and gold. I fear that fakes and "replicas" are flooding the market and will lead to distrust.
Hey @bullionnow I've been waiting for the next "Great Southern Land" coin from Perth Mint. I have the Opal, Mother of Pearl, and Lepidolite versions already. I had asked y'all last yeat about it and was told to "Watch early in 2024 for some news on it". Just checking in, they are popular here in the U.S..
I just wish we could get more Perth coins in the US. I am trying to put together a Florin collection, and it has not been easy,
Agree, this is might be worry for newbies. Pretty coins though, but not my cup of tea, I'm kind of over the dragons series this year, don't remember any other lunar coins been released that much.
Cheapest 1kg silver bars and 1oz silver coins for me. Nice set though 👌
personally I wouldn't touch the guilded coin
Pretty soon with the way gold price is heading, most people will only be able to afford gold plated coins anyway…might as well get use to it from now.
Would love to see more security features such as the Britannia.
Happy to take a look!
PM have more security features than U.S mint.
I don't like it. There are loads of gullible people whose eyes someone could pull the wool over. Many of the comments below clearly do not understand what the problem could possibly be. They say things like 'the cost of the set tells you right away that it can't be gold'. That is a ridiculous argument because the person is a stacker and a primary buyer. So, yes the Perth Mint is not trying to pass it off to you directly as a gold coin. The problem is that there are shrewd people who can buy these and deceive others.
You're already gullible if you spend anything more than a few dollars over spot and for the same metal content as generic rounds
You guys being too sensitive😂
Another one that causes confusion are the Royal Mint $200 gold coins. They're only 91.67% gold.
I found this is fine
It THROWS the whole silver motif off. IT LOOKS LIKE GOLD. Who're they trying to fool? Even though they state that it's silver, it borders on a slight bait and switch. Should've, could've, would've done a dragon with a REVERSE PROOF. No coloring.
Is this the first time perth ever done it? Ding ding collectors premium.
The colour is off tho. It is slightly different shade to the real gol one. It could fool non coin or gold bugs.
I would have liked to have seen selective guilding .
I would have liked to have gotten an opal dragon too.
Got reject emails from 3 EQL ballots today. I couldn’t win a chook raffle even if I held the only ticket. 😢
Everyone knows exactly what is is , the price of the set tells the story .
This coin specifically absolutely, Perth have marked this one clearly as being a silver coin. It's more the direction items like this are heading, and how surprised we were by how much it genuinely looks like a gold coin! We're used to spotting them a fair while away!
Just the whole "fantasy" themed coloured coins are a turn off for me, but it's just my personal preference. @@BullionNow
I don’t like dragons or colored coins though I do like the Perth mint products
❤👍
This will be a new trend until all coins will be clad
Guaranteed this coin will be removed from the set by unscrupulous sellers and misrepresented as a gold coin. I think it's a mis-step from PM. I'd be happier if this coin didn't exist.
What is this nontroversy that you're pitching! It's a popular series, with a design that is widely known in the industry.. There will always be unscrupulous people pitching gilded coins on to the unsuspecting. I don't feel that this coin is feeding an existing problem which will always occur. It's just a nice thing. I like gilded silver personally, if it's done right and have some in my numismatic collection that i'm very fond of. Like the 15 gram gilded silver dante alighieri coin and the inca sun god one (man I'd love the 500 gram version of that, but damn the price). Anyway, storm in a tea-cup. Traversing a Nontroversy.
This coin specifically is open about what it is, but compared to those other previously gilded coins we've seen this is the first that kind of made us do a double take. More than happy if everyone's reaction is "it's fine" but wanted to see what people who maybe weren't aware of the numismatic gilded coins thought!
@@BullionNow hahah, sorry for interfering then. lol. Carry on. What would be totally funny, is if the gilded dragon, was a rare exception in the series and even out of the set, came worth a lot of money in the future, more than half an ounce of gold even. Well that's not likely, but it's an interesting distraction to ponder. The numismatic market is a funny thing and you can't predict the future perceived value of specific coins, only that there will be cycles in demand.
@@dleetr no no! We wanted to see what the community thought. :) Absolutely impossible to predict sometimes!
Clearly marked as silver. It's like COPY being present on the coin . RELAX.
For me it scares me too I’d rather it be a reverse guilt coin , Perth should move away from it because it would fool people and they will have too deal with the backlash from angry people .
I can 100% see the issue here. I never really liked gold-plated silver coins anyway. As a matter of fact I don't like gold-plated anything generally.
I want my silver to be silver. And gold to be gold.... I don't want my silver to look like gold, and my gold to look like silver.
But I tend to collect other forms of silver. Including jewelry. And people have done the same thing.
Is it sterling silver? Or silver plated??
Response : " it's sterling silver plated"..
This infuriates me so bad.... I cannot stand people who play games with terms.
What's next??
A sterling, real 24-karat gold plated, platinum???
New version of clipping gold coins
Inflation
Devaluation of the currency
Would be interesting to run the gold plated one under the XRP. But weights and measures would certainly give it away too.
The West Australian Chinese knock off.
Perth Mint should have just gilded the coin, full gold plating unnecessary and not appealing to me.
It's unprofessional, that's pretty much it. Perth Mint is a gatekeeper for the industry.
Yes, it kind of sucks! It's a bit Trumpish.......
Cry baby 😂
(2:20) I think that we will hear about issues in the coin world if they decide to sell that single coin
by itself as an option for their customers to purchase that single coin separate from the set.
((((I haven't finished the video, so I apologize if you eventually addressed this in the upload here. ))))
American Intermediary Documentary 3/21/24
Agreed, the limited release of the set and the higher price point to obtain the set does limit the potential problem slightly.
