Jake recommends two brands: Peak Performance and Green Vibrance. 1) Peak Performance is the speaker's favorite in terms of taste. Great information Jake. Yeah, I have been very leery of AG1 from day one. Anything marketed that heavily always sets off alarms for me. And at the price they want, you could literally almost buy a farm and grow your own food lol But seriously. Over a year and a half ago I made a video discussing how Ashwaghandha completely changed my life. Having had 14 concussions and 3 skull fractures (hockey, soccer, and an older brother who loved watching professional wrestling and trying the moves out on me) I was plagued with migraines. My doctors and my neurologist’s tried everything and nothing ever worked. And then about two years ago I started taking Ashwagandha 30 days increments for six months. And my migraines have completely disappeared. Completely. I haven’t taken Ashwagandha since. I don’t know if it reset something in my neurological system or what. But it saved me from a miserable existence. I know that my story is anecdotal. And I don’t have any science to back up my claim. But my neurologists are completely happy with my outcome and so am I. Again, great video and awesome information.
@@swashington942 I understand that you may find it self-entertaining to take literally things that are said colloquially but... when you do it in a public form, it just makes you appear like you're starved for attention, and using this 'tactic' to stir up engagement. If the best you can contribute to a health-focused topic is attention-seeking... you may want to talk to someone about that.
I'm from Australia and I agree that it isn't value for money. I've used Vital Greens on and off for fifteen years and find it annoyingly good. I did the nerdy spreadsheet thing with the ingredients and found them almost identical Vital Greens is $1.50 (AUD) per day VS $5 for AG1. I totally agree that it's sneaky the way AG1 lists their ingredients as blends.
@@gwenstaceys hi, it was recently rebranded to "vital all in one powder" I get mine from chemist warehouse. It's a black tub with a green label. I'm not sure if YT will show links but I will try to post one. If not, if you google "vital green chemist warehouse" its the first thing that comes up.
Many of the popular greens powders are quite expensive for Canadians. I found one that's very affordable: Canadian Protein's super greens. I'm only a couple weeks in to using it, but, so far, so good. I've tried some of their other products and have been satisfied.
Thanks for this information. I’ve been trying to find in depth research on these green powders for awhile, and started to believe they were all hype. So glad I found this
One thing you should look at when buying any of these powders is the addition of pea protein, I am vegan and take pea protein daily and it’s relatively cheap so I don’t want it in my expensive greens powder. I have see as much as 2 grams out of the 5 gram serving to be pea protein, that equates to 40%!
pea protein is very inferior to high quality animal protein. Vegan, vegetarianism is the diet of the poor and malnourished: ruclips.net/video/0b8Osg5MbfE/видео.html
You could simply adjust the amount of pea protein that you take so that the amount of pea protein in the greens powder, combined with the amount you take on its own, gives you the amount that you choose per day... right?
is there a way to get the part (maybe in liquid form?) of the part thats not pea protein. I agree, if its nearly half protein powder, what a waste of money that is..
I'm lucky that I actually love eating vegetables. But my friend has serious issues eating and is often nutrient deficient. She definitely needs to fix her eating habits and other things but for now, the best option for her recovery are these green powders. Thanks for letting me know some better and cheaper alternatives.
Veggies barely contain any nutrition. It’s (organ) meat, eggs and dairy which contain the bulk of nutrition in a human diet. All the rest is very hard to digest. The cellulose matrix in which the bulk of the nutrition of vegetables is found, is indigestible.
Dude, just found you and this video right now, and it's easy to see that you have DEFINITELY done your research for years most likely. I appreciate the video, gonna scoop up the peak performance from your link and give it a whirl. Thanks!
I’ve been taking green vibrance for 8-9 months and I don’t think it’s placebo that I feel better and more energized. Aside from the transparent ingredient list. I like that it tastes “healthier” than AG1. Pretty sure AG1 has a substantial amount of dried apple powder as a sweetener. If I’m gonna be paying big money for a green powder I don’t want any sweetener when I could just add my own for 10 cents. I highly recommend a lot of ice with green vibrance it somehow makes it taste great. Like an extra earthy iced matcha. Or make it with coconut water if you want some sweetness.
Mmm yeah that is a good point about apple powder being cheaper. Totally agree these drinks taste better cold, keeping em in the freezer helps with the taste too. Glad you like the green vibrance!
When I took AG1 for the first time the effects I noticed were that I felt calmer almost like my stress levels were reduced and my gut felt a little weird, so the part of your video that talks about the ingredient that is known to reduce stress was a big no no for me, so thanks for bringing that to light
I canceled my $100 a month AG1 subscription 4 months ago, they wouldn’t even give you free shipping lmao glad I watched this video because I was just about to subscribe again, but I just ordered Peak Performance instead. Thanks Dude
Have you tried Huel Daily Greens? If not, I'd recommend trying them. If you have, I'd like to know how it compares to the Peak Performance brand. Great video and I love the comparison!
Seriously comprehensive solid video. I'm not a fan of AG1. Cost and also the ingredients are lacking. A good example is that their main ingredients are Spirulina & used to be Cholerella but if you look at the recommended dose its no way sufficient for what you want to consume. Probiotics - many mention this benefit, including Huberman but its far superior and easier to attain this from kefir. Vastly higher concentration & importantly diversity. Diversity is important. If you imagine your microbiome as a rainforest, you do not want to just plant oak trees. You want and need a wide range. Biodiversity. Im a big fan of spurlina but especially cholrella and you clearly do not get enough from AG1. I have studied this a lot and even though they mention its organic this is usually a negative because most organic products are from Asia in less than great enviornments they are grown in. Origin of key ingredients is key! I take chlorella 1-2 times daily because of the chlorophyll (which is key for detox!) & also the CGH. For me this is the ultimate supplement and need very little else. I also take turmeric & sometimes moringa/maca. For a smoothie fix I like frozen cherries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries with chia seeds, LSA, half lemon, apple cider vinegar, cucumber & some probiotic yoghurt.
thanks for this. Just drank the first one today and was ill for a few hours. Never happened before. It seemed common. They were nice to refund me right away before I even asked, when I told them what happened. I’m back to only Huels, vitamins and regular food. Which always make me feel great. The taste was also horrible. I hope they improve their product and get more transparent about their formulas and side effects.
I realize that humans aren't dogs, but a friend of mine breeds dogs and I recall her saying on different occasions to the buyers that they should gradually taper down existing food while gradually increasing the new food being introduced. I think this is solid advice for humans, too. Hard-switching between products, and feeling unwell as you did, may be less about the product than about the hard-switch. Something to consider. Cheers!
I'm having severe digestive issues and the doctors are worried about it. This isn't because of A1G, it's because I'm not getting proper nutrients. I also have to be very cautious about what I take. A1G doesn't have Iron and that's one of the biggest reasons why I take it.
I hope you will review greens available here in Canada at some point. Green Vibrance shipping is as much as the product itself, and Peak Performance doesn't ship here at all.
See if BPN Strong Greens is, it's half the price of AG1. You can even get the Strong Reds and Strong Greens for the price of AG1 and they mix well together giving a great taste.
Wow, great idea to get blood work for a follow-up video! If you do, are you considering standardizing your diet to help control the variables? It might be worth reaching out to a nutritionist to get their opinion on the viability of data collected before starting as well.
is there a point of eating any of these 'green powders' if according to research papers, amounts of magic things inside are just way too low to have any effect? should healthy diet be enough then ?
I’m prone to kidney stones so want to be careful what kind of greens are used in powders. Want to stay away from high oxalate greens like spinach and kale. Not sure if spirulina is high in oxalates or not.
Thanks for the upload, I was looking for a more affordable alternative than AG! That product is from NZ so that may explain why it is sooo over priced!
I did just get my 1st order if AG1 & honestly price was hard to get over & noticing their packaging is high quality & I can’t stop thinking about how maybe the package could be a bit less nice & maybe they could reduce the price.
Nice review. Very US centric though - what about us lot in Europe and the UK? What would be an equivalent I wonder...? HUEL is available, perhaps a review of that Vs. AG1?
@glennherron9499 AG1 or Peak? I find AG1 to be better than Peak, unfortunately (considering the price); but yeah, it still tastes like green powder. If you haven't tried a bunch of them you may not realize AG1 is crazy good
@@CassidyHansen AG1 ... and I am used to protein shakes and other similar products. It definitely is a different flavor and consistency. Tomorrow, day two! LOL
Not sure if you are still looking for company's that do mail order bloodwork, but I would suggest Marek Health. I have used their complete panel before and it was thorough and pretty elucidating for me personally. A little pricey, regardless of the panel, but I don't really have a standard to compare them against.
Thank you for this video. It’s amazing how many people get on and start talking about something that they have only tried once. But you have done your homework and you have experimented with this, so that puts you above the bar .. my thought about organics is that it’s always better. It’s more nutritionally dense because the soil is more nutrient dense.. and not treated with roundup/ glyphosate. So powder made from organic is going to be more nutritionally dense then if not. I believe is round up and glycinate is destroying our gut hearth. The evidence on that is very clear. Watch the video on factory farming and autism . This poison and the total lack of nutrition in our food is killing us and driving us all crazy.. please let me know your thoughts
AG1 actually works great for me, but I do feel uncomfortable by their marketing and methods. I don't think they are magic, but every alternative seems worse. I have no idea why people like the flavor, maybe I'm too European
swit wrote, _"every alternative seems worse."_ I'm sure you understand that "seems worse" isn't referencing anything that can be independently verified. With that in mind, what is the criteria you reference to arrive at your conclusion?
The Ag1 is ok but I’ve had much better results from the Ag2 when it came out and it has a better taste. Ag1 on occasion would upset my stomach that’s when my coach told me to try the 2, so glad he did
Thank you mate lots of great recommendations. I’ll see if I can get them in the UK? I’am however a medic, please don’t take your own blood; it takes a qualified phlebotomist to take bloods you can do some real damage on your nerves.
I did a mail order food sensitivity test that was just a pin prick like a diabetic person would do, I guess for blood work you would need more volume though.
AG1 made me want to drink battery acid. I'm not a picky eater, but the taste is unlike anything i've ever put in my mouth. Just thinking about it right now is giving me goosebumps. It tastes so sickeningly synthetic that i had to mix it with juice not to throw up. I only lasted a week, the possible benefits werent worth having PTSD every morning.
I'm sure the liquid sugar drink tasted less synthetic than the kind of off-putting drink mix. Are you guys dry-scooping it or something? I can get not liking the taste or thinking it's gross, but acting as if it was designed specifically to be as disgusting as possible is such a stretch. It's mild as fuck.
@@GlacialScionIt's almost as if... people are different? Wild, i know. It is probably the worst tasting product of any kind i have ever tasted. I shotgunned it mixed with almond milk or orange juice in the morning, then brushed my teeth right after. The taste still lingered in the back of my mouth for several hours until lunch. If you like it, then fine, but dont come here and tell me what my exprience is.
@@melanp4698 Try BPN's Strong Greens and Strong Reds, you can get both for the price of AG1 and when mixed it tastes quite good all you really taste is the reds which has a strawberry flavor.
Recently I received AG1. Contained in the kit was a graduated, capped, plastic drinking bottle. I don't drink from plastic. AG1 is too sweet for me. AG1 uses lower quality ingredients then I am accustomed. I think AG1 is good for people just developing a sense of nutrition. I will use that graduated plastic bottle for yard liquids.
Ok, it already arrived at my door! Contents in jar must settle A LOT because it’s only just above the halfway mark. But it tastes better than expected. Tell yourself it’s unsweetened green tea and you’ll be very pleasantly surprised with the taste!
The internet states AG1 does not have Vitamin D although you can pay to get that separately along with vitamin K. You mentioned you started AG1 in part as you needed more vitamin D. That caused me to research it as I didn't see it on my gifted AG1 bag gifted to me on Mother's Day.
We are deficient in nutrients because we no longer fast. Fasting causes your body to be more efficient with your vitamins, minerals , carbs and protein when you get them. In the past we fasted more often because it wasn't usually an option, and people weren't very educated about nutrition. People just ate what was available even if it wasn't nutritious. Fasting doesn't cost anything. In fact its quite the opposite.
Great video! The only thing that has me wondering, though, is that you say that green drinks are not a replacement for real food. I agree that the powder shouldn't be the end-all be-all. But the powder IS food (highly concentrated at that, if I understand correctly). I take Green Vibrance due to its potency and ingredient list, since I don't do my due diligence and eat a high veggie diet. If I may ask, respectfully, what makes a green drink powder inferior to the whole form vegetable? Is it more the idea that you're relying on the green powder to substitute for a poor diet? Or is the whole food more beneficial overall? Thanks.
To answer the question of what makes a green drink powder inferior to the whole food, I think it has to do with what was taken out in order to make the powder.
Ah just checked it out. First impressions it does seem to have a lot of filler (oats, pea protein) so maybe slightly more towards meal replacement than strictly green / digestive supplement. The fat content could be good for absorption and they include chia seeds and flax for omega 3s so that’s good. Overall it has a lot of similar ingredients to the 3 products I looked at but it seems that the quantities of most of the good ingredients are less. They also use proprietary blends so it’s hard to tell how much is in there of each ingredient. It looks like they do use a lot of chlorella and spirulina which is good, and they use more mushrooms than any of the powders I’ve tried, could be a good thing, sole people swear by that mushroom coffee replacement stuff.
My son drinks almost a gallon of milk a day…. The dr said extremely low vit d. I’m wondering if powders and what is said on the side of the bottle is true. Healthy to me is now, quality of life. I kinda wonder about the experts.
That sounds like way too much milk lol. Is it grass fed at least? Those factory cows barely move or see sunlight, or eat real food, so it seems like they would produce milk that has low nutrients. Also, almost everyone is vit D deficient in the winter. That’s the most important supplement for sure. And if you can get sunlight close to high noon that will help with vitamin D
im not sure on the quality of their ingredients but huel also makes a greens powder. tastes good to me and at least from what they are advertising is in it seems comparable. but then again ive done next to no research on whats the "best". its unrelated but i dont like to buy anything that is advertised a bunch as that means theres larger margins going towards advertising and therefore a more expensive product, and im seeing multiple ads from ag1 recently.
Think of advertising as an investment. Some say that you should go all in early and become a familiar name in your target market. Others will say not to invest so heavily in advertising, to grow slowly and let the reputation spread word of mouth. There are merits and risks to both approaches, but it's a mistake to regard either approach as inherently bad or good.

You can purchase a farm and grow your own food for $100 per month?

Hey, I'm aussie and was just wondering which vital greens you buy specifically? Where do you buy it in aus? Thanks!
@@gwenstaceys it's now called vital all in one. It's found basically everywhere. Chemist warehouse, woolies, etc

Many of the popular greens powders are quite expensive for Canadians. I found one that's very affordable: Canadian Protein's super greens. I'm only a couple weeks in to using it, but, so far, so good. I've tried some of their other products and have been satisfied.
Where can I get Canadian Protein ?
@@Silkytoaster just search 'Canadian protein super greens', should be the first result.
Genuine health Greens+ is quite affordable and tastes amazing
Thanks for this information. I’ve been trying to find in depth research on these green powders for awhile, and started to believe they were all hype. So glad I found this
One thing you should look at when buying any of these powders is the addition of pea protein, I am vegan and take pea protein daily and it’s relatively cheap so I don’t want it in my expensive greens powder. I have see as much as 2 grams out of the 5 gram serving to be pea protein, that equates to 40%!
pea protein is very inferior to high quality animal protein. Vegan, vegetarianism is the diet of the poor and malnourished:
ruclips.net/video/0b8Osg5MbfE/видео.html
You could simply adjust the amount of pea protein that you take so that the amount of pea protein in the greens powder, combined with the amount you take on its own, gives you the amount that you choose per day... right?
is there a way to get the part (maybe in liquid form?) of the part thats not pea protein. I agree, if its nearly half protein powder, what a waste of money that is..

That was an excellent review, man! Green Vibrance is definitely top notch and my preference as well. Nice work on this!
Thanks for making this. I keep seeing people say AG1 isn’t as good as they say, but I haven’t found a lot of people giving a specific alternative.
It would be great to see a breakdown like this for Huel daily greens. Been thinking of giving that one a try.
Just know that Green Vibrance comes with a label indicating that the product contains lead.
They all contain lead. It's leeched from the soil and cannot be entirely avoided, even when organically tended.
Dude, just found you and this video right now, and it's easy to see that you have DEFINITELY done your research for years most likely. I appreciate the video, gonna scoop up the peak performance from your link and give it a whirl. Thanks!
Thank you for this. Just this week I almost bought more AG1 but then closed website cuz it was so expensive! I’m going to try one of these. 👍🏼
Me too😂
This was incredibly informative. Thanks for this great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
so thankful for your time and efforts. Any update on your further comparison? Would make a great recurring series 👀🤙🏻
Wow your approach and presentation to nutrition is very hollistic and well rounded. Just subbed

My man said, “last week I bought some kale…I didn’t eat it. But I did watch it wilt in the fridge”. I love that. I can relate 💯 😂
Thanks!
I found out that the second product for which you are an affiliate does ship to Europe. And the shipping is only $72! It's truly an amazing deal. . .
Do dietitians hate you? Cause you nailed it with the balanced opinion. 👍✌️
I mix my Green Vibrance with Lemonade and it helps make it significantly more palatable.
thanks for this.
Cheers!
Anything that is advertised and hyped as heavily as AG1 immediately arouses suspicion for me
Thank you so much. I was just about to get AG1 but you have me thinking about Green Vibrance.
Definitely using your code the next time I reup on green vibrance!
First video I've seen from you. Very helpful, thanks!
Great video! Good information. Loved the spreadsheet.
I'm having severe digestive issues and the doctors are worried about it. This isn't because of A1G, it's because I'm not getting proper nutrients. I also have to be very cautious about what I take. A1G doesn't have Iron and that's one of the biggest reasons why I take it.
This was super awesome! Thanks for breaking this down for us!
Thank you for the analysis. I will try the alternatives for variety. With shipping and customs the alternatives are even more expensive though.
The ad roll on this video was an AG1 ad 😂
is there a point of eating any of these 'green powders' if according to research papers, amounts of magic things inside are just way too low to have any effect? should healthy diet be enough then ?
This is a great video
Are you able to recommend any products available in Canada?

AG1?
Appreciate this very much. AG1 tastes so dam good but the price is hard to justify!
It def tastes better than some of the alternatives. Are you gonna try Peak Performance? I think it tastes way better
@@JakeLearyDefinitely. I can't just take Jake Leary's word for it ;) Thanks for the link. Ordering now
Tastes good? Today is day one for me and the taste is not "dam good", hoping it tastes better, or I at least get used to it.
Thank you for the very informative and well presented video. Really helps.
Do the bacteria survive the freezer? They are probably more used to body temperature. Also do they even get far enough in powder form?
AG1 actually works great for me, but I do feel uncomfortable by their marketing and methods. I don't think they are magic, but every alternative seems worse. I have no idea why people like the flavor, maybe I'm too European
swit wrote, _"every alternative seems worse."_
I'm sure you understand that "seems worse" isn't referencing anything that can be independently verified. With that in mind, what is the criteria you reference to arrive at your conclusion?
A good way to get fruits and vegetables in your diet is to throw them in a smoothie for breakfast
The Ag1 is ok but I’ve had much better results from the Ag2 when it came out and it has a better taste. Ag1 on occasion would upset my stomach that’s when my coach told me to try the 2, so glad he did
Couldn't find ag2.
Is it from the same people who make ag1?
Thank you mate lots of great recommendations. I’ll see if I can get them in the UK? I’am however a medic, please don’t take your own blood; it takes a qualified phlebotomist to take bloods you can do some real damage on your nerves.
I did a mail order food sensitivity test that was just a pin prick like a diabetic person would do, I guess for blood work you would need more volume though.
Info very informative where do I get it? Has pre and probiotics? Are they gluten free?
Our of the options linked, one only ships to the US, the other is more expensive than AG1 when adding the shipping to Europe.
Maximum vibrance steps it up even further ❤
AG1 made me want to drink battery acid. I'm not a picky eater, but the taste is unlike anything i've ever put in my mouth. Just thinking about it right now is giving me goosebumps. It tastes so sickeningly synthetic that i had to mix it with juice not to throw up. I only lasted a week, the possible benefits werent worth having PTSD every morning.
😂 that’s messed up, I’m trying to find a cheaper alternative
@@melanp4698 I'm sorry. I didn't mean to impugn your honor. Just seemed a little exaggerated.
@@melanp4698 Try BPN's Strong Greens and Strong Reds, you can get both for the price of AG1 and when mixed it tastes quite good all you really taste is the reds which has a strawberry flavor.
I switched from AG1 to Huel when I saw it was comparable in ingredients at about half the price.
I have been using green vibrance for 8 years now and I just started to take animal pack along with it and I have never felt better.
Hi Jake would love a follow up video for this. Also please try Markus' Greens.
Good thorough review. Can you try Huel and give us your thoughts?
Recently I received AG1. Contained in the kit was a graduated, capped, plastic drinking bottle. I don't drink from plastic. AG1 is too sweet for me. AG1 uses lower quality ingredients then I am accustomed.
I think AG1 is good for people just developing a sense of nutrition.
I will use that graduated plastic bottle for yard liquids.
Maybe one day I can be like Jerry. Hope springs eternal! (Inspiring!)
What about shipment to Europe? (AG1 delivers in Europe)
This is so thorough and helpful thank you!!
Just ordered Peak Performance 🤞🏼
Ok, it already arrived at my door! Contents in jar must settle A LOT because it’s only just above the halfway mark. But it tastes better than expected. Tell yourself it’s unsweetened green tea and you’ll be very pleasantly surprised with the taste!
The internet states AG1 does not have Vitamin D although you can pay to get that separately along with vitamin K. You mentioned you started AG1 in part as you needed more vitamin D. That caused me to research it as I didn't see it on my gifted AG1 bag gifted to me on Mother's Day.
Usually if you sign up they send you the bottle of vitamin D + K for free but you need to put in a promo code
@JakeLeary thank you Jake! Not planning to join. I can not get past the taste. Feel like I am prepping for a colonoscopy TBH.
Hey, do you have alternatives for Europe, because it's 65$ shipping to Europe...

What is the most affordable green powder? In terms of quality and bang for the buck
Thanks.
To answer the question of what makes a green drink powder inferior to the whole food, I think it has to do with what was taken out in order to make the powder.
love you dude, great video
Great breakdown. Thank you very much
Thanks for the wonderful info, Jake. Any opinion on the Huel Daily Greens product? Appreciate it. 🤙🏼
@@JakeLeary thank you so much for your detailed explanation, Jake. Appreciate it !! ➖❤️➖

Hey Jake, great video! Any thoughts on Amazing Grass?
I'd be interested on hearing your thoughts about the UK product 'HUEL', and how effective you rate that formula.
Thank you so much for this video!
Jake you need to comment link this to a Nine Club video to compare to their AG1 sponsor ads ;)
Another alternative: Fresh vegetables.
im not sure on the quality of their ingredients but huel also makes a greens powder. tastes good to me and at least from what they are advertising is in it seems comparable. but then again ive done next to no research on whats the "best".
its unrelated but i dont like to buy anything that is advertised a bunch as that means theres larger margins going towards advertising and therefore a more expensive product, and im seeing multiple ads from ag1 recently.
@JakeLeary
Jake, I have had quite good experiences with Life Extension for periodic blood tests to monitor my body and diet.
I have also heard that some of the major testing labs are offering tests now, too.
L.E. also runs a big sale on their blood tests every spring, and I believe it lasts about 6-8 weeks.
