That sucks about the Bluetooth not passing through to the output, Bill. You would think that Mackie would understand that people want to be able to hook up subs to these. There is probably a way to go inside and jump the audio from the Bluetooth receiver section to the XLR output, but I’m also sure it would end your warranty immediately. I bet on the next generation of these, this issue is addressed.
So it is written in the manual. It says: the thru jack sums up the input jacks. And you have the block diagram at the end showing that BT is after the route from input jacks to the THR out. So it is designed like that.
I'm probably going to buy a pair to have as a ceremony setup, I can be completely power free with my Denon Prime Go turntables that have 6hr battery life, and a pair of these. That way when I'm out at a barn wedding and the reception is outdoors far away from power I will be set. I'll just hookup xlr inputs into both of them. Then I could move them inside for some more room fill. Do they still play music if you have xlr running into one of them from your turntables, and the other is paired with it but across the room as a satellite to fill the room? in other words does XLR into one of them also negate the bluetooth pairing?
Hey Bill, yes, I had the same issues with the pass thru. Ready don't understand why Mackie did this. Only thing I think of is now you HAVE to purchase another mackie speaker if you wanted to have two speakers playing which I get it but as a DJ, that's unprofessional for mackie to go that route. Personal, if I wanted another speaker link wirelessly, I would had purchase another mackie go. Maybe it has something to do with Bluetooth would interfere with the pass thru if you use link another speaker but still.....this could cost them a sale lost in the speaker.

I forgot to mention I get these max dB readings at a little over two meters in a wide open large living room area with a15 feet ceiling. Compared to manufactures specs that test at 1 meter in acoustically treated rooms.

@@trussvillegetsfit9241 No, JBL doesn't have a sub woofer in the MK2 line that will sync with the App. The good news is you don't need a JBL subwoofer, you can use any brand. From the App use the Pass Thru Out to the sub. I love it because it has a gain and mute function. It also has a high and low pass filter for the sub. Right now I'm running full range to a second aux speaker and it works great! JBL doesn't make the greatest subwoofers in my opinion. If you want some good choices tell me your price range and weight limit.

Two of them sound great, but won't give you any more bass. Check out the App store under equalizer, some good ones. The Mackie App has no effect on bass. In the future think about getting a small subwoofer. You will be amazed by the difference! Will sound similar to a $1,200 column array. Take that $450 you have for a second speaker and buy a sub! I have some suggestions at that price if you are interested. Of course most subs are not battery operated so I use an external battery.
Glad you like them! Wasn't sure so I just tried it. Yes, loud and clear using 1/4 to 1/4" TRS. Only downside is you cant control the gain of the aux speaker from the App. JBL MK2 and EV 30m have that ability.

Good question, comes down to your application. 2 Mackies would be louder and would have that true stereo sound that only two speakers can produce. EonMK2 is a more Hifi experience with much better full range sound. JBL has a nice smooth midrange and good bass. JBL has a good EQ so you can dial in your preferred sound. Mackie has a cleaner high end but has little mids or bass. Your preference, for me I would go with the JBL MK2.

@@frenixrj Everything depends on the volume you play. The louder you play the less run time. Also content with heavy bass will drain faster. Playing at max volume near clipping say 100db I think you will just barerly get 12 hours. Maybe?? Remember that is just the speaker. If you put a mixer on there that will lower run time. I have never actually played that loud for so long so just an estimate. At moderate levels say 85-90db might go as high as 14 hours???
One Bose S1 Pro is rated for 50 people. Two Mackie Thump Go 's should handle 80 people. But if there is dancing, any of these speakers need a subwoofer.

These speakers paired up wonderfully with a subwoofer. My recommendation either the Bose Sub1 or EV ELX200-12. Both $900, pairing with a sub really makes an impressive full range sound!
I wish that feature worked but went ahead and ordered my second one yesterday because I us a mixer most of the time and they sound good. But it's nice when a sub doesn't matter to wirelessly hook them up for music and still have the power with the sub and mixer to be a little louder that when I run the S1pros.

Sorry to hear that. Make sure both speakers are individually connected in Bluetooth settings. I renamed mine Thump Go Right/Thump Go Left. Once both speakers are connected I pressed the Bluetooth Logo on one and then the other and they linked automatically. If that doesn't work I think there is a Link button on the App. you need to press.
I use this song because it is very dynamic with extreme lows that really tax a speaker. I have used this same song for max dB testing so people can compare different speakers I have tested at the same distance, same dB meter and in the same environment. I actually created this song myself on Garage Band. I have so many great test tracks that I wish I could use but I want to stay clear of the RUclips lawyers!
Please let me know how you set it up. When playing through Bluetooth there is no signal output to the XLR out. If you plug into channel 1or 2 then the Thru out has signal.

I haven’t had to run a sub with it yet but my understanding is that you have to change a setting in the app to make the Thru out work.
Please let me know if you figure that out with the App. I see no way to do that.

These are great ceremony speakers. Your question - Not sure, but running a sub with Bluetooth doesn't work so your set up might not work either.

Funny, another speaker I have, Tubosound iP300 also doesn't send pass thru via Bluetooth. Maybe its a $$ saving thing??

I would go with 2 Mackies. Anytime you have left/right speakers the sound is much more life like and room filling. Volume will be about equal.
I tried plugging in a cheaper dynamic mic, but the output is very low. Have you testing a direct XLR mic connection into Input 1?

I haven't found a way to do firmware updates with this speaker. If it doesn't have that ability that is another negative.

Does the link work when plugging into the combo input of one speaker or does that only work when using Bluetooth?
No, using Bluetooth the XLR out doesn't work. Hardwired in works fine. Design flaw or cost saving I don't know:(

The yorkville exm8 will bluetooth wirelessly to its exm sub. I really wanted this mackie to have a similar feature
Really bad move by Mackie! EXM is a no go for me because for such an expensive speaker it doesn't have a user replaceable battery.

But it's nice when a sub doesn't matter to wirelessly hook them up for music and still have the power with the sub and mixer to be a little louder that when I run the S1pros.

@@shaneberckman True, my Mackie Pro FX16 mixer is the best! My concern is that Mackie has not been very successful in the speaker world.

And I really appreciate what you do to help get the information on these products out. I wish we lived closer. LOL I would love to do this with you. I love music and I love a quality system when I play it.

Sorry to hear that. Make sure both speakers are individually connected in Bluetooth settings. I renamed mine Thump Go Right/Thump Go Left. Once both speakers are connected I pressed the Bluetooth Logo on one and then the other and they linked automatically. If that doesn't work I think there is a Link button on the App. you need to press.
Play another song
I use this song because it is very dynamic with extreme lows that really tax a speaker. I have used this same song for max dB testing so people can compare different speakers I have tested at the same distance, same dB meter and in the same environment. I actually created this song myself on Garage Band. I have so many great test tracks that I wish I could use but I want to stay clear of the RUclips lawyers!
You should delete this video because it does work so something you’re doing wrong
Please let me know how you set it up. When playing through Bluetooth there is no signal output to the XLR out. If you plug into channel 1or 2 then the Thru out has signal.
Yeah please elaborate on how you can link and use the xlr input or output at the same time.
