Lithium Ion batteries might have the best energy density, but just because you choose one for your device doesn't suddenly mean you never have to worry about power again; Now yes, this does of course limit their usage considerably for portable and/or high power devices, but for devices which are stationary and have low power consumption, capacitors can be used successfully.

Usually 6 or 12 V would be possible quickly 6.8V or 13.6V after a while. Being smaller batteries car voltages would be a little too high ( > 13.8 VDC ). The capacitor needs to keep voltage similar. For specail applications electrolytic capacitors as shown here are too leaky. Memory back up being one.

You might use a soldering gun on heavy automotive wire, but never use one on electronics parts. Also that flux you used damages parts because it has acid in it, called ammonium chloride. A year after you use the flux, the parts will be eaten up internally.
This is not a super capacitor, it is parallel combination for slow discharge, but by this method you can make stable dc voltage across dc generators only. It is not a replacement of battery. He is making you fool.

Yes, if the voltage charging them are higher than the lowest voltage the capacitors can accept. Like a 45v capacitor can handle any voltage below 45v, but not over 45v... mixing and matching capacitors do not matter as long as the input voltage stays below the lowest rated capacitor.

I'm pretty sure you are using capacitors as capacitors. Your just resisting the discharge as it goes into an LED.
Use a buck converter and it would be more efficient, not blowing all that energy in the resistor.
