Maybe you don't know the price of this car. You should not say the seller is a scam! That will destroy a person and make others misunderstand about us Vietnamese people
Adam, that’s why you have to do your research for the price of everything before you buy, and if possible bring a local Vietnamese with you when you buy something big. You should read tips on how to avoid common scams in Vietnam. I hope you have a good experience in VN and come back in the future. Thanks for your videos. I enjoy watching them.
This is not a scam. This is the business culture of Vietnam. Sellers set prices for their products, often higher than their own value. The buyer has the right to pay a lower price. The sale and purchase is mutually agreed upon by both parties. Fraud is when you are deceived about the brand introduction, the condition of the product… so check the product carefully, go to reputable places… you should find out through the local address.
You can not expect a strange seller gives you a cheap price with just few minutes talking But in my oppinion, as a Vietnamese i think 8m for that bike is a good price already Enjoy your time in Vietnam !
really tricky they show a good picture and give you a good price to bait you out. After you come yes the price is totally different from the beginning. In the US you can sue him for tricky ads, but there is no rule ;).
That price is ok, not too expensive bro 👍 In Ho Chi Minh city, there is a whole line selling used motorbikes on Phan Đăng Lưu Street, Phú Nhuận District
Great content bro. But that’s not a scam. You got what you pay for just not the price you want. Scam is when you didn’t get what you pay for. Like he purposely sold you a defective bike.
thanks! ah ya.. I was thinking that the bate-and-switch part of it was a scam.. but its kind-of a gray area.. haha and i thought it would make a good title
Overcharging foreigners is considered a scam especially if it involves intentional deceit or exploitation like this one as he deliberately charging higher prices to foreigners solely because they are perceived as unfamiliar with local prices.
Obviously this buyer doesnt have the slightest idea of what is the definition of a scam. Business 101, if buyer and seller agree on a price no matter how ridiculous or what not, it is dependent on buyer to due diligence. You agree on price, so how is it a scam?

I don’t think it was a scam when you paid over $8 mil and a local would only want to pay no more than $5 mil. Just like anywhere else in the world… you can walk away as you almost did. And Mr. Win would not sell to you for $8 mil … and he might not sell to a local for $8 mil either. So … I would agree you might have overpaid compared to a local BUT I DON’T THINK YOU WERE SCAMMED.

Hi Adam, Sorry for ur bad experience. Actually, there is a motorbike checking/analyzing service company that u can hire to check the second hand motorbike in Ho Chi Minh. It's suprised me because I didn't even know it existed until I watched a guy on RUclips. They will send a staff to come with u to wherever u want to check the bike that u like. They will have a checklist to check everything precisely and tell u the bike's condition such as how far this bike has been rode (the fact is sometimes the number of kilometers shows on the bike is wrong because the seller reverted it to a smaller number in order to sell it as a higher price), they also tell u if there is any part replaced, etc and based on the bike's condition to tell u the approximate price that suited for that bike and recommend u should buy it or not, also what u need to do after u buy it. The fee for the service is around 150.000 VND or 150K in brief (I don't remember the price exactly). Moreover, the company also guarantees that they will pay u back all the motobike money if the bike is not as good as they analyzed. It's pretty cheap service and u don't get scam from the seller :v Not advertising, but if I want to buy a second hand motorbike in the future, I definately will use this service to get a bike with the money as its value and also has a guarantee from the company :))))))) I searched the guy video and found the company fb link if u want to use it in the future: facebook.com/kilu.vn I know there are many companies like this but I haven't searched yet. This is just my recommendation so u won't get scam next time u buy a second hand mortorbike. In my opinions, 8 millions for a second hand mortorbike is not expensive. Normally, they are around 15 - 20 millions. Depending on the bike's condition and u must check everything carefully before u buy it. Most of the bikes look new because they re-paint the exterior but the interior such as the engine is old and not at good condition. That's why u need to have some experience to check if they replace them or not. Or have some one who good at this go with u to prevent scamming. Peace
you did great job negotiate it, for the guy say he not gonna pay more than 5m to buy it, he's bullshit, you can't go that low in the negotiation, just assume he right about the price, the seller may buy it for 4m but he not gonna sell it for 5m, he need to buy meats for his family :)) and the thing you call scam, it kind of technique to sell stuff here, showing you something nice with good price, then when you come they said they sold it already and introduce you something else :))
6.5 millions for one bike is really cheap. And with that price you can only have low quality bike in Vietnam. Something like secondhand bike or bike with some damaged parts. And those bike look fancy with the gas tank actually very bad. It doesn't have the stable for you to travel in VietNam. I suggest you if you want to buy one secondhand bike in VN, You should look for those wave or future. Despite they don't have fancy looking, they are very stable and safe for you to ride.
