I dont comment often but I just have to say thanks for the Balatro content NL. I am a Balatro addict and long time egghead, so I enjoy this content greatly. I have high hopes for the full release.
@@FourOneNineOneFourOne There are for sure some things that can be improved and expanded upon. Could be a TBOI situation where the game gets much better over a span of months or years. One thing i want to see is a mode/ run where you have 20+ jokers active or something outlandish where everything is going max synergy dopamine release mode and your deck has 208 cards or something wild. That would be crazy. Imagine craftin a multi billion dollar chip deck with 25 jokers popping off.

I mean he was right though. He said the straight itself is good enough without being leveled up. And he did go on to beat the boss with two straights. Looks like they were good enough.

Without it you still scored 3200, which is well over the 2645 you needed. The juice ain't worth the squeeze!
I had a fun run where all of my jokers gave a benefit on a straight and my straight was level 10. Straights were worth like 30k and everything else 800.
Consistently fails to understand that Balatro is about fixing the deck to give you the best hand more consistently rather than spending resources to patch up weak hands, fails to empower strong hands, and when he needs those strong hands to perform, of course they don't... because he failed to empower them when he had the chance. The best marketing for this game hands down.
NL playing Balatro is like the "Can you beat this guy?" ads. His gameplay is unbelievably frustrating to look at that you just want to play the game yourself.
Even if you play A HUNDRED high cards with supernova, it's still not worth doing. You need so much support for high card slams it's practically a challenge run. (You might manage with a lot of planet cards, odd-thomas / even-steven, supernova, constellation, and torn, maybe, but even then, I just can't see it.)
Agreed, all my "high card" ruins were just busted runs in some other way. I had one with Constellation up to 3X multiplier on nearly all Pluto planet cards, a Ride the Bus joker at +40 mult, Even Steven, and some other stuff I don't remember, but I could have won going for almost any hand type. Supernova just isn't enough on it's own to make a difference.
NL not realizing he had a royal flush when fishing for exactly that until he read the hand text is exactly why this series is so scuffed and I'm here for it.
NL thinking that a +1 mult on two pair or worse is worth $1 each time... What?! That joker is a bonus to your best hands, not a vehicle for scaling and is robbing you of money to buy actually good cards. Edit: The "this card is straight ass" when talking about supernova that he spent like $15 upgrading instead of simply winning the round is goddamn hilarious.

High card build is actually goated. Especially if you can DNA a stone card.
On the early levels I'm like "this is smart in case you get a dog water hand in the later rounds." and then he didn't stop throwing high card.
