The Sony 24-70 f/2.8 GM II and Sony 16-35 f/2.8 GM II are two lenses that never leave my camera bag. Why? well today we're going to discuss the reasons why I love these two lenses. But needless to say, the Sony 24-70 GM II and Sony 16-35 GM II are by far the most versatile lenses to have in the kit.

I think "content creators" love the 16-35mm range, but for those of us more behind the camera instead of in front of it... IMHO the two most versatile lenses are the Sony 24-70mm F2.8 GM II and the Sony 70-200mm F2.8 GM II. This gives you A LOT more versatility with a focal range of 24-200mm instead of just 16-70mm. If I had to pick two prime lens instead of two zooms it would be the Sony 35mm F1.4 GM and the Sigma 85mm F1.4. Hopefully, Sony will release an 85mm F1.2 GM II soon.
I just mostly shoot wide scenes, so the 16-35 suits me nicely. But would like to add the 70-200 to the kit soon.
It does sound like the 85 GM is going to be up for a refresh pretty soon from the rumors I’ve seen. I think it needs it more than any other GM lens. The original was a beautiful image but the AF is nowhere near what it needs to be.
The 16-35 GM + Tamron 35-150 has been a pretty nice zoom combo as well, especially with two camera bodies which keeps the lens swapping to a minimum. Then a couple of fast primes for low light and bokeh stuff :)
Super solid combo as well!
Also you get that f2 at 35-39mm 😊
Exactly, that's potentially one less prime to carry around :)
Zooms are great for versatility and the 24-70 GM is best for that. I carry also the 70-200 mm for conference videos and I am using the 16-35 PZ for vlogging. Greets from Berlin!
Yeah having a good tele to add to the mix is fantastic
I use mostly all the time the 16-28 of sigma and the 70-200 f4 of Sony, and I love it, I wish those GM but are crazy expensive
They’re definitely pricey but so so nice
The Sony 20mm F/1.8 G and the Sigma 85mm Art are always with me.
Very solid choices
due to the lack of a standard zoom (saving for the tamron 35-150) it's actually the sony 90mm macro I use currently the most. not the obvious choice, af could be quicker, but it's crazy sharp and beautiful for portraits! and I use it for portfolio macro shots. the sony 50mm 2.5 G is the second lens I often use on my a7IV. light and compact with great handling and quality.
sounds like a fun setup and suited for your needs!
Nice lenses. But I would not carry both in my bag because of the big overlap. Give the 14mm F1.8 GM and the superb 20-70 F4 G Combo a try. Only 950 grams together.
Both great lenses! I really love the 20-70 Personally 14mm is too wide for my needs most of the time
Hello from Germany. Nikon Shooter here, who also loves Sony. My goto for Landscape is the Nikon Z 24-120mm on my Z7 II. In Apsc Mode you can get 24-180mm with one lens. For daily use (EDC) it is the Nikon Zf with an adapted Sony 40mm 2.5 G.
Agreed....always in the bag...ready to go...Great content...thanks for sharing.
Much appreciated
for me the lens i never go for any shoot without is the tamron 35-150, that thing is just so versatile and i use it all the time
Interesting thoughts! For me it's rather the 16-35mm and the 70-200 range, especially for the outdoors. I nearly never need the standard range while the 35mm could also be easily 52.5mm with crop mode and still having > 14MP on the A7 IV. Really need that 16-35 f2.8 GM II though. Looks so good. ✌
Tamron 28-200 and then Sony G 20mm and Sony GM 35mm
As much as I hate to admit it I use the Tamron a ton because its so versatile, well worth its price especially since it's compact and light.
Recently I am asking myself if I could replace the Tam 28-200 with the new 24-70GM ii.
My most used lenses are the 24-70 GM II and the 70-200 GM II. They take 90% of my shots. But, my most used travel lenses are the 16-35 PZ and 70-200 f4 G II. The PZ will probably be replaced by the 16-25 G and 24-50 G.
I got the 20-70 f/4.... it's my one lens wonder
I love that lens. Honestly don’t understand why it doesn’t get more love (and apparently hasn’t sold that well)
I wish a was one of these lenses so I’d always be in your bag
touche
would also add the 70-200 gmii, I love mine and it never leaves my bag.
Hello from VN. My goto for filming is the r6ii with 24-70mm f2.8 and 85mm f1.2
24-70 nearly stays married to my a7iv
big facts
for my travel current 2 lens setup is 16-35 2.8 +70-200.
truth be told, I seldom ever use the 70-200F4.
thinking if i should downside to a 24-70 2.8 as a 1 lens setup
mostly do landscape and some astro recently
curious at your 16-35 + 70-200 mix in your Lightroom catalog in comparison to ur 16-70
Thank you Those Lens are fantastic :)

@@kylemeshnaWeird, 5:03 in your video quality drop drastically. I’m editing in FCPX and I dealing with same problem after render.
@@Maharadzoweird. I’m not seeing any quality drop on my playback or in the export. Are you sure it isn’t something on your end?

👋🏻 hello!
I'm a 14mm GM guy but the use case my content creates is super niche.
Interesting! What’s the use case?
@@kylemeshna Mostly urban and environmental exploration, often at night. POV type stuff. Super niche, nobody watches, but I love doing it 😊. The 14 is wide, and bright enough on the FX3.
Cute brown dog. 🥰 What's his breed? 🤭😅

Sir you need a GAS mask
@@kylemeshna I think I need an intervention actually
@@JonnyRoams how many times have I tried to have one...

🤘🏻🤘🏻 cheers bro bro
Same lenses here with the addition of the 100-400. Thinking about adding a 85 prime eventually. Keep creating, love your content

I used to always have the 100-400 with me. But honestly have barely used it since moving to Utah. Less option for crazy compression out here it seems 😅
