  • This week we take a look at a very interesting conversion I just got off of eBay. A Chaos Knight is a very cool piece of kit and it definitely has the bones to make something really special for an Ork army. So I do just that. This Chaos Knight will now be a looted Ork vehicle!

    Instead of shoulderpads you can mount some platforms and place gobs with tons of Dakka there.

    • @narutobankai

      Or take off the old "head" and put a big pipped up hitrod engine fore more dakka power

    • @poilaaliop
      @poilaaliop 8 месяцев назад +6

      I personally like the head, but maybe there's still room for a gun on top of it... I do think it needs am but more dakka.

    • @endersblade
      @endersblade 8 месяцев назад +13

      Agreed. The head is cool and all, but the dakka just made more sense. Since the 'pilots' don't need the actual cockpit in the head, it would make sense for them to strip it out and add a big gun.

    • @hmmm348
      @hmmm348 8 месяцев назад +2

      If the head has dakka attached to it, that'd be fine. The head as a compartment is about the right size for a grot gunner to fit inside and because the head can rotate,I think that could work. Otherwise, a gun looks weird there with the extra compartment sitting on top. So the only other option IMO would be to not have anything there, except maybe wires emerging from it or something that wasn't going to protrude.
      Glad after he revisited the Stompa challenge that he's trying more to stick with the original kitbasher's vision, but yeah, I think the choice between the top compartment and adding something to the Knights original head mount was an either or scenario. That is unless he'd put the new compartment even further toards the front.

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  8 месяцев назад +15

      The issue I had with the gun was that the model didn't read as Orks to me right off the bat. I want there to be instant recognition as much as possible. That being said, there need to be more guns on this model overall! We'll see how it goes, I'm not even sure what's going to happen yet lol.

    • @hmmm348
      @hmmm348 8 месяцев назад +2

      @@eBayMiniatureRescues Kitbashing is fun, but it can be frustrating like that. You can get the equivalent of writers block sometimes. I think the trickiest thing about orkifying a knight is that it has some very distinct curves and Ork vehicles tend to be anything but curvy.
      I do like the fact that it looks kind of hunched over like an Ork though.

  • @MrGBH

    This reminded me of an Ork conversion I accidented myself into.
    I bought some of those partwork magazines that have 40K sprues in them, but unbeknownst to me, I had missed the first part of a three part set. Meaning I had most of a Redemptor Dreadnought, but no weapons for it (Nor sarcophagus)
    Instead of getting upset, I ordered a Deff Dredd and used the abundance of pieces to not only convert my Redemptor into a looted Mega-Dredd, but could also build a regular Deff Dredd as well.

  • @euansmith3699

    13:30 That first little Grot Rigger is a wonderful mini.
    The Orknight is looking splendid. The pauldron covering the left arm really hides the lack of an elbow.
    The look-out's bulging red binoculars made me laugh.

    I like your thought on a newly looted piece. To many times ork machines just look heavy with all the added stuff. Making it light gives it a dangerous new aspect. At 12.50 that thing looks amazing and fast. Slap a load of grechins with it! They'll add armor as the battle tags on

  • @PeddlerOfSmiles
    @PeddlerOfSmiles 8 месяцев назад +4

    It's looking really good, but man, I miss the old belly gun on it. You could fit a replacement big killie gun right under that head, but I get the impression that's not really your style.
    Regardless, I can't wait for the finish product!

  • @RyanEdwardsVA
    @RyanEdwardsVA 8 месяцев назад +29

    I like what this is going so far, but the cannon in place of the head was definitely the most unique part of the original model, and felt very Orky. Can't use the original Throne, so bolted another vehicle to the top, and what to do with the space created where that old useless head was? Why not more dakka? Presently, the cockpit head sitting above another head is just a bit odd; I feel like to make that idea work you'd need to have them more side-by-side in a skewed, helter-skelter kinda way for a dopey "ettin" look.

    Great work, it definitely feels like the original idea but perfected. Mounting the warsuit within the knight chassis definitely makes it less slap-dash looking and lore wise it makes a lot of sense since I doubt the Orks would be able to use the knights throne so putting in manual controls with the warsuit makes a lot of sense.

    I love the head where the cannon was at, but i think it needs more ranged daka, and i think using those shoulders to carry the rangeed weapons would be a good use of its remaining space since you want keep the arms melee based....so maybe have weapons platforms for a crew to man or something would be cool but remote
    Weapons that are fired by the pilot would probably look better since you dont have alot surfaces space to work with on the shoulders.

    I think for this to read as looted it needs a lot of battle damage. Every section of original armour needs holes and scrapes and gouges, even sections missing and covered with panels.
    Tge thing i think would really elevate the conversation would be cutting tge more prominent leg off below the knee and the attaching the foot from one of the othe kits (pinning it for strength) and then using extra panels and jewelry chain on the joint to highlight the splice.

    What 3D printer do you recommend as the BEST for printing out miniatures? I play D&D and want to get into 40k but my Ender 3 Pro doesn't do miniatures very well.

    I have a few Models that I'd like to redo myself but can't seem to remove the paint well enough,
    What do you use as a paint remover with your ultra sonic cleaner?

      I use a concentrated degreaser called LA's Totally Awesome. If you live in North America then it's pretty available, otherwise find some kind of purple power or simple green, anything that's concentrated, and that will work really well for you in a sonic cleaner!

    personally would keep the cannon? cuz now it looks like two heads and is distracting the main focus to head on the top. plus that cannon is in a way cool so rather than a huge cannon like the old one I would probably switch for multiple smaller ones (like the Bracer Phoenix from Pacific Rim 2)
