"The comic offering for tonight's Screen One film is a transatlantic jaunt involving a schoolboy who bets his friend he'll be worth a million before the week is out.
Christien Anholt , recently seen as the young man investigating the death of his father in ITV's rerun of The Blackheath Poisonings, stars as the 16-year-old boy. His adventures lead him to New York, where he meets his match in tycoon Martin Short (best remembered here as one of the hilarious Three Amigos with Steve Martin and Chevy Chase).
This is a first film by young writer Tim Firth , who has two series in the pipeline for the BBC; the music is by John Dankworth.

…..god I love the internet! The general plot of this tv film randomly dropped into my head today after 30 years and within an hour I’d found out the name and that the whole thing was on RUclips! 👍
Christien Anholt was a great actor - remember being proper spooked by him as the teen gunman with the clown mask in an episode of Press Gang (probably a year or so before this was made) where he shoots Paul Reynolds (playing his best friend here).
I had this on vhs years ago and was gutted when it got chewed. Thrilled to have it on here-thanks for uploading it. One of the best films ever made in my humble opinion 🙌🏻👌🏻

I had to check the credits. I thought, this guy looks like a budget Martin Short, but it was the real deal.

the main actor could play a role as prince william if they make another british royal family movie or series , he has a more of a convincing look about him than the other actors ive seen playing the prince william . mind you this is from 1993 so he would be too to play prince william role now ,
