Buy cheap, inspect the part carefully, install correctly, save yourself the money. People having problems with the cheap ones just slapped the levers on there without checking if the part fits well and if it's installed correctly.
@@dedelabinouze5110 True and can definitely be done but when you pay more for a reputable and quality brand, you get a longer lasting quality item. Would require less monitoring. One of the first mods I did on my 2017 R6. Was about to go with ASV but the knowledgeable sales rep I bought my bike from suggested CRG. Love the quality and feel. 100% recommend. I'm glad you have them too.
I have had the same mzs levers for 3 years on my 17 r1 and my 16 zx10r... no problems at all. Good fit and quality! If mzs would have marketed their levers at 200 bucks a set there wouldn't be a problem.... Ijs🤔
Exactly. No one has proven a bad design or proven the cheaper levers are inferior. Show me some subjective testing, not just case studies of one or two people who can't install a lever right and caused their own issue.
Yeah I think a lot of it comes from that “you get what you pay for” mindset to justify the higher cost. Also RUclipsrs sponsored by companies like ASV and stores that carry their product advertise for the expensive levers. They are better quality for sure, but the “cheap levers are dangerous” thing I have never seen actually happen. If your brake and clutch are sticking after installing cheap levers, 90% chance it was installation error. Either tightened it down too much, didn’t have the plunger aligned, or cables got twisted bound up. The levers themselves are very simple and pretty much failproof. You can make the argument for durability but functionality is the same. I had cheap Amazon levers that were $40 a set on my r6. Never had an issue, the adjustment was a little sticky but I keep it in the same position anyway. I ended up getting these crg levers for like $230 and they feel nicer, the clicker is smoother, but that’s it. They work just the same.
Glad you made this bro! I bought cheapo levers for my previous FZ07 and got stuck in traffic, it was slowly compressing my front brake and eventually stuck. Since then it’s always been CRG, especially on my R6 👀
This is usually the result of over tightening and not using lubrication on the parts. This is an example of what you did wrong and caused in all likely hood.
@@broderp the brake lever wasn’t sticking, the brake caliper was sticking. This is a result of the brake lever, not being drilled down to spec, and slowly compressing the master cylinder even one released.

had my chinese levers on both of my bikes and no issues almost 3 years now with them🤷♂️. Maybe is people not installing them correctly? i have done plenty of track days also with them and still intact. same with my rear sets.
Wait if the bushing is the problem and you had to order a Yamaha bushing for the new expensive levers why not just do that for the Amazon ones in have the best of both worlds
No whoever replaced those levers before I got it did not replace the bushing from the stock lever into the cheap lever on the clutch side. You can’t put the factory bushing in the Amazon lever on the brake side. It has one already it which is locked into place.
I think there is some confusion over cheap being bad and improper installation. I have heard of a bushing issue in a few cases but in both cases teh installer didn't properly lubricate the pin or bushing, thereby inducing the issue- and then blame the cheap lever. I'd like to see an apples-to-apples comparison that proves the cheaper ones are inferior in any way. You can tout specifications and materials all you want, but unless those specs clearly show a part will break under normal conditions then it's just that, a specification. If teh cheap ones were so bad, I'd expect to see way more videos on the issue, rather than someone trying to justify spending hundreds for the same functionality. If you like expensive designs, just admit it and be happy. No need to make unjustified claims.
You may not see a lot of videos or comments in forums about them but they are out there. I’m not the only one that made a video about this. Sport bike track gear also made a video talking about cheap levers. “You get what you pay for” is a real thing. Going cheap on certain things may be okay in some cases, but when it comes to certain safety aspects, I would not mess around. Just my personal opinion.
Did those gold levers come with the bike when you bought it? The original levers should have had the bushing. That's why I'm asking. I do love the new levers you picked up. Pretty sweet.
@@itsmeericb That's ok anyways. At least you caught it before you ended up wrecking your new bike. Now, to be clear, I've bought and used cheaper after market levers on previous bikes, but, they had to have a solid reputation and I'd inspect them to make sure tolerances were good and the pinion was free floating. To each their own, but just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it can't. You literally get what you pay for. $100 a lever is actually better quality than $40 levers.
Don’t know the numbers, but there are a good bit of forum posts and videos talking about the dangers of using cheap levers. There may be the lucky ones that have not had any issues, but why take the risk?
Probably not a lot. I have yet to read any proof of cheaper levers being dangerous. Just the hype, usually by those wanting to justify the expensive levers. Prove a design flaw that will guarantee a crash. They can't.
I've seen a few videos and I've read a few posts of people who have crashed because of cheap Amazon and eBay levers. And this is a shop where everyone is a semipro local racer. I can post links if you need any more information
