Are Starters in Emerald Rogue 2.0 Really Random?

- A quick video about my discoveries into the starter selection of the newest update to Pokemon Emerald Rogue after its 2.0 update came out a few days ago. The only thing about this I do not feel confident on is the rough size of the starter pool, but I think it's sufficiently wide enough to "feel" random even if it most certainly isn't entirely.
This overview I hope is a huge help to anyone trying to shiny hunt a specific starter. Leave a comment below if it helped you in any way or if you have more detail to add!

Hi! I can add some more info here :3
So the spawns being tied to frames is just due to how RNG is calculated in gen 3 games, so yes if you load a savestate and perfectly enter on the same frame you will have the same RNG state which will result in the same starters. So if you are farming for starters it's best to resavestate every time to desirably progress the RNG
However the actual species that are valid starters follow a few simple rules: 1. the cannot be legendary, 2. they must have an evolution i.e. cannot be a single stage mon, 3. they have to adhere to the previously chosen type triangle in one of their types. 4. mons cannot repeat within the starter selection
To elaborate on the typings, At the beginning of the starter generation a random valid type triangle is chosen and then each mon is chosen one by one to match each type in the triangle. There isn't any additional logic to do with the secondary typings however. So you can have "muted" type match ups in some cases e.g. if the triangle chosen was Electric, Ground, Water, it would be possible Barboach to be chosen as the water encounter, even though it's immune to Electric attacks.
It's also worth mentioning that the method to unlock the "post game" content early also applies here. So if you unlocked the features and then changed your dex the starters would respect that (So you could force it to all Generations or just a specific regional dex and hunt starts which adhere to the above rules, for example)
Hope this was helpful :)
Oh my gosh the creator commented SEND HELP I WASN'T PREPARED FOR THIS
That is all insanely insightful! I have to let SmithKoopa know their guess on the typing triangle was 100% correct! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to share even more information! (I'm also really glad I decided against doing an Excel sheet and tracking it all considering this info).
I hope you don't mind if I pin your comment so anyone who is curious and ends up here somehow can benefit from the insight!
I realize how too this is why I saw Scyther so many times but never Pinsir or Heracross that's so interesting
HI! can I get a gible or Jangmo-o for my starter?
@@brixternobe1039 Hello, it's been a little while but I want to say that should be possible yes
@@snowyzorua thaank youuu HhHhaha cuz I save and load a hundred times yesterday
I was wanting to do another Pokémon run from the old games for a while and playing one of these modified games may be just it. This game looks fun. You explain things well and your voice is nice, keep it up with the videos!
I absolutely recommend it! I have over 100 hours in it now and it's still very fun, it can be just as challenging or not as you want it to be and I've discovered love for pokemon I probably would have never given a chance otherwise. Thank you so much for the kind words!
