    Thank you for sharing. I have an old used home sewing and want to up grade. I am a beginner. I wanted to know if tl 2010Q and a serger would be an adequate replacement? For making quilts and clothing for me and the kids' zippers and buttons included. Thank you❤🎉

    Trying out different brands at a large sewing show (when we come out of lockdown) can really help narrow down your options. In the UK a lot of the sewing shops are brand specific. At a Sewing show you can see which features are the ones you want across the different brands, so you may find you want to travel a bit further to buy a model that meets your needs.

      Hi Helen, You're sew right! It's always a good idea to compare different machine brands and models for features, performance and price. And the expos are a good way to do that efficiently. All you have to do is walk from one dealer's booth to another on the vendor floor. The pandemic has impacted the supply chain for machines and accessories so we'll have to be more patient as dealers receive stock deliveries that have been slowed down dramatically worldwide. Air threading is Great!!!! My wife and I purchased a Baby Lock Triumph two years ago. The Triumph is the first serger we ever purchased. Now fast forward to today and two Triumphs later🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️. The Triumph is amazing and can not imagine anything else.

      Every manufacturer has certain serger models with air threading. This feature makes threading easy and threading is usually the reason sewists don’t use their sergers . Thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!

    I got more confused. I know what I want I want serger that can do tiny seams. On lace & sheer fabric but also have option to do hem on finished sleeves & pants. And I can’t google which serger can do all of that….

    • @GailPatriceDesign
      @GailPatriceDesign  3 месяца назад

      Hi Rina,
      You may want a combo overlock/coverstitch machine. There are many models and brands that can do what you want. Stitches and seams that you mention are a matter of selecting the correct stitch for the technique and adjusting the settings on the serger. If you want to hem garments a coverstitch capable machine may be the answer. My best suggestion is to visit a local sewing machine dealer and asking a salesperson to show you a variety of sergers . There is a wide range of prices, quality and capabilities depending on price points. Look for a dealer who offer lessons and classes to help you. Sergers are fun to learn and use, but do require lessons. There are many Serger Tip Clips on my channel.that demonstrate loads of different stitches. Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck!

    Hi Gail! I always enjoy your informative videos. Currently I have a BabyLock Evolution. I am looking for a backup serger for times when my Evolution is in the shop or when I am serging knits and do not want to keep changing from coverstitch to serging. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions on purchasing a backup serger?

      @@lat64eece The BERNINA L850 or L860 are both fantastic machines. The 860 is computerized and you can save special stitch settings for customized stitches. If those don’t fit your budget the ERNINA 460 is also fabulous and all 3 have a 9mm wide stitch that is beautiful. It creates very bold decorative edges. Let me know if you need more info. Thanks

    Thank you for the information. You didn't mention what brand of serger has the best warranty or what brand you prefer. I've been looking at all the brands that carry the air threader feature for over a year. The prices have been the same and not one dealer is offering a special or additional items with a purchase. All they are saying because of the demand right now for sewing since the Covid lockdown the companies don't need to make a price reduction. One dealer said the prices will be going up soon! • @GailPatriceDesign

      Hi Rosalie, I don't research or compare warranties among the various brands, nor do I identify brands that I prefer, (The videos show you the ones I love to work on.) COVID has changed the landscape of availability of all makes and models of machines as well as accessories. The pandemic created unprecedented demand for sewing machines and sergers and due to lockdowns around the world, the supply chain has been slowed down almost to a halt at factories. And there continues to be pent up demand. (A silver lining of this horrible disease.) Now that vaccinations are allowing things to re-open, that will change. But it will take a while to catch up. Good luck and I hope you find the perfect serger for you! Thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips.

    A video advertising local dealers, instead of explaining the differences between overlockers. What a waste of time. If everyone could go to a local dealer, what would be the need for you and your video? Pointless.
