What is so fascinating about his work, and what I think attracts most people is viewing the big picture. Almost no one in Hollywood had his personality ever, people say he couldn’t exist today, but he couldn’t then, just like the people in his films they are the last of their kind. Seeing someone struggle deeply with masculinity, nihilism, and codes of honor is fascinating, Sam Peckinpah was a deeply, DEEPLY flawed guy and that’s what makes his work all the more fascinating.
