"What do you mean she ran out of ideas after 26 books?" Lmao 😆 I'm gonna miss Doreen and her not-a-real-job job. I hope you find another series that you can do this with.
I'm watching this with a client with disabilities while she receives medical services and she LOVES you and Rob. She keeps echoing everything Rob says and cackling.
I cracked up when you mentioned that other characters wanted Doreen and Mack to get together before those people died. With the number of bodies Doreen found over such a short period of time, the chances of everyone in the city expiring before the couple gets together seem really high. 😅
19:34 I played it back three times 😂😂 The amount of silliness Rob pulls out of you is the epitome of an Aries and a Gemini relationship. I love that for you. And for him. Ugh, so pure. So cute. So fking funny.
I read a fair amount of "cosy cat mysteries," and the appeal is usually the heroine having a fun job in a scenic location. Apple cider shop, maple syrup farm, mountaintop lodge, etc. It's more about the vibes than the mystery. These books sound so boring without even that basic appeal of a cosy mystery! The videos are super entertaining though! I'm going to miss them, if not boring Doreen (Boreen? lol)
Thank you for your commentary on homelessness. As someone who oversees public investments and programs to prevent and end homelessness (in a large city in the US), I am always impressed by people who humanize people experiencing homelessness….and the complexity of addressing this issue, which really is just the manifestation of so many system failures on impoverished people over time. I hoped Canada did better for the vulnerable, but maybe not?!
I know this has nothing to do with this video and it’s been years and no one else probably thinks about this but! My partner and I reference that time rob was supposed to film in a bookstore and filmed the mushrooms at the grocery store instead all the time 😂 any time I’m watching a video and rob speaks, my partner will say, remember the mushrooms?
Hey, I’m wondering if you’ve ever read any of Louise Penny’s Inspector Gamache series? She’s Canadian and most of the books are set in Quebec. They are the best comfort reads for me and the mysteries are solid. The books are murder mysteries but REALLY they are about friendship and gratitude and art and love and poetry and delicious food and empathy and they are just SO GOOD. Since you are wrapped in this series, you should try them.
Rob is so hilarious I swear! He cracks me up every time he's in a video. I cannot believe this author churned out 26 books in 5 years with this character and yet no character development? Wild haha! Also I'm so mad the parrot did not help solve these murders, what a terrible missed opportunity!!
I'm only like three minutes in and this is already off to an incredible start, I can't stop laughing 😂 I love your and Rob's chaotic combined energy! 💖
I was just thinking about this series because I tried reading a romance set in Vancouver where everything was American. The terms were American (college, dorms), the stores were American (Target, this book was written in 2023, way after we stopped having them in Canada), and finally the characters were American citizens. Could not figure out why we were in Canada.
16:55 GIRL I LOOOOOOOOOVE love's labour's lost!!! best shakespeare play EVER and nobody's ever HEARD of it!!! and NOBODY EVER PUTS IT ON AS A PLAY oh it is my burden to bear :((( i hope you read it!!! it's so sweet and I love it so much pls pls pls read it at some point
Pretty sure I would have DNF'd early in this book lol. I love cozy mysteries but I'm picky about all the things you talked about. There's too many better books out there to stick with one that's not well written. Kudos for sticking it out tho!! Loved this video, lots of laughs. 😊
Ugh! These books suck so much, but I'm also so sad this series is over! You would probably be hard-pressed to find another local mystery to follow along to, but I would love more content like this with you and Rob out doing things while you read! Hopefully the next books would also be more enjoyable for y'all, but I don't mind either way 🤣
I listened to the first book when you did it & my favotire thing about it was the animals, especially the Basset Hound! (note the dog in my profile picture! :P )
oh on your confusion/discussion/??? about the roman numerals - it's bc for the 3 they'd hold up three fingers. whereas for the 4 they'd hold up the entire hand (to get the v formed by the outline) and then take one finger away, or at least that's how they interpreted it :)
The way I adoooore these videos but could not stand to see you suffer more reading the rest - so it's just me hoping you'll find another one to do it with hahah
Have you ever heard/read of Mrs. Pollifax mystery series? Published 60s/70s, they are so fun. A mix of Agatha Christie and James Bond, cute, fun, and cozy
I love everything about this video series. LMAO. Rob cameos, terrible plots , me trying to solve them with you. its so much fun
So fun. I'm sad it's over.
Ok hear me out… a whole series where Kayla and Rob solve Agatha Christie mysteries 😂
Honestly I’m SO here for this 😂😂
Yes yes yes
Yaaaaaaaaaaas!
LISTEN!!!!
yessss!
Rob and Kayla will always be my number one ship. Absolutely iconic couple. Perfect levels of sass from both sides. Doreen and Mack could never.
i'll pay an extra besties membership fee every month for you to do all the rest of these just for us, i swear to god
😂😂😂
Fully agree
Oh hell yes!
Me too, they are so entertaining 😂
I'm in
Rob was really out here living his best unbothered life. Love his energy.
"What do you mean she ran out of ideas after 26 books?" Lmao 😆 I'm gonna miss Doreen and her not-a-real-job job. I hope you find another series that you can do this with.
The parrot being the soul of the dead husband is WILD
I'm watching this with a client with disabilities while she receives medical services and she LOVES you and Rob. She keeps echoing everything Rob says and cackling.
“26 murders, 26 morons committed them” had me busting out laughing 😂
I cracked up when you mentioned that other characters wanted Doreen and Mack to get together before those people died. With the number of bodies Doreen found over such a short period of time, the chances of everyone in the city expiring before the couple gets together seem really high. 😅
Even in Canada ACAB 😭 why couldn't they just leave the fruit and veg alone?!
19:34 I played it back three times 😂😂
The amount of silliness Rob pulls out of you is the epitome of an Aries and a Gemini relationship. I love that for you. And for him. Ugh, so pure. So cute. So fking funny.
I love a good Kayla & Rob video. 😆 “Any thoughts?” “nope!”😆
I read a fair amount of "cosy cat mysteries," and the appeal is usually the heroine having a fun job in a scenic location. The fact that this book has a 4.5 average rating on goodreads is absolutely sending me
Kayla and Rob are the iconic duo detectives we deserve. 🕵️♀️ 🕵️♂️
Despite how not fun the book was to read, this was a fun video to watch 😊
I am Rob trying read out words from the book's covers: "Riches to rags: when endings begin--nope".
The accent on that "Both" at 8:55 was true north strong and fierce.
I just need more of Rob’s predictions 🤣
“Do you want to read this out loud?”
Rob: “nope”
I thought you might read K for your name. I do need to know if the parrot ever helped her solve a mystery in one of the 22 books you didn’t read lol
uhh what about her reading all the letters for her family and which one was the best. K for Kayla , R for Rob, L for Liam.
Thank you for your commentary on homelessness. The books might be terrible but these videos have always been so much fun to watch 😂
The "us 3 minutes ago" took me tf out 😂😂
The thumbnail is everything. This whole video sent me.
2:05 - Rob's "bastard" genuinely made me laugh out loud omg.
Lol!! I love when Rob joins you on the videos. You two are so cute together!
The book shucked but Kayla and Rob are always delightful.
I absolutely love these silly little videos with Rob cameos, they’re so fun!
I CLICKED SO FAST IM SO EXCITED they’re so silly to me i love these videos
“us three minutes ago”…I’m CACKLING!
Does Kayla find out in the video that there’s a book #27? I think it’s a novella though 😅
😩😩😩
rob reading the tagline and you going PARROTory made me cry laughing, thank you.
it's so crazy seeing Lucy Wood's book on shelves!! I've been watching her on youtube for like 8 years!
IT’S THE X-FILES!!!!

Would have been a big plot twist if Nan had been a crime boss the whole time.
I am *so* here for this!! It's time for a final goodbye!! 😭
Somehow, I think holding a cop's girlfriend's grandmother at gunpoint, and then letting her know, should have ended way worse for the guy.
This was so wholesome , you two collab together are the coziness I just needed ❤ sending air hugs
Love the attention to detail with you matching the thumbnail to the cover!
I’m so glad there’s another episode of this book series the other three have been so much fun.
I love this silly little series so much I'm sad it's over
you and rob are couple goals fr
I love watching your vlogs, they are often very funny. Keep doing them please
love the rob cameos! always so good!
Kayla and Rob, you guys are like Veronica (Speedwell) and Stoker! but less grumpier, like... Canadian version lol
I really like where in a book there is a chance to solve the mystery. Thanks for sharing this
„What river? Where’s thaaat??“ 😂😂 20:46 I can’t
Rob is so hilarious I swear! He cracks me up every time he's in a video. I cannot believe this author churned out 26 books in 5 years with this character and yet no character development? Wild haha! Also I'm so mad the parrot did not help solve these murders, what a terrible missed opportunity!!

Youse are hilarious together! 😂 also, I’m half way through Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood & it’s very fun & cozy!! The perfect autumnal read🍂🍁🥮
A is for Alibi by Sue Grafton would be a fun book and series for you to do 😁
Kayla: skips 22 books
Also Kayla: "I missed a lot"
🤣🤣🤣
I just looked at A Dark and Drowning Tide at my library earlier today! Will definitely be reading it sometime this fall.
Loving the edits on this
0:28 Kayla: "we're actually detective partners solving a crime"
me: "omg literary Scully and Mulder"
Rob: "IT'S THE X-FILES!"
me: "more like the Z-Files" *spooky theme plays*
Nothing says your the parents of a teenager like using “dead ass” and “lock in” so casually 😅😅😅 I love it!
Do this with another terrible cozy mystery. I love this series and you and Rob are adorable 😊
These videos have been hilarious to watch! This series will be missed 😂
The simultaneous "ope" @1:18 is so quintessential Canadian and made me giggle.
I came here to comment the same thing 😂
Loved watching this mini series with you 😂 robs cameo too.
You two are the ULTIMATE ship… always.
Not me, using these city clues to stalk you on google maps 👀😅

this intro is everything to me
I can't get over how cute this video is!
RUclips did NOT tell me this existed!!! 👀😭 I’m so excited.
I was just thinking about you! I finished The God of the Woods today and I'm SO excited to hear what you thought.
Oo would you reccomend?
@@sadmoresmore absolutely. I loved it. It was atmospheric and tense. Good character depth.
Someone needs to write fanfic with Kayla accidentally meeting the author around town.
Perfect video to watch while waiting for my connecting flight ✈️
60 seconds in and I'm already laughing so hard - this is going to be amazinggggg
I canceled my Netflix subscription last month, and I'll gladly put that money towards more video series like this!
Pretty sure I would have DNF'd early in this book lol. I love cozy mysteries but I'm picky about all the things you talked about. There's too many better books out there to stick with one that's not well written. Kudos for sticking it out tho!! Loved this video, lots of laughs. 😊
I’m dying 😂 EB Breakfast Co… it’s OEB… the O is just the egg in the logo… we have those here too, I didn’t know it is also in BC.
😲😲😲

I’m sorry that I’m so entertained by your pain, but this was a great video!
The energy of these videos is truly unmatched. The opening clip in this one had me rolling on the floor.
Loving the Habs hat on Rob's head LOL. Was not expecting that since I think you guys live out West?
He's from Montreal ♥️
Omg there’s a book 27 coming out in December that’s Christmas themed 👀
Y’all are too cute together and funny 😂
Also I LOVE the thumbnail you made for this video. (Even if the book was a dud. )
oh on your confusion/discussion/??? about the roman numerals - it's bc for the 3 they'd hold up three fingers. whereas for the 4 they'd hold up the entire hand (to get the v formed by the outline) and then take one finger away, or at least that's how they interpreted it :)
omg what a theory Rob
So excited for this!
I hope you try to solve another book mystery hopefully one more interesting, gripping and suspenseful
The way I adoooore these videos but could not stand to see you suffer more reading the rest - so it's just me hoping you'll find another one to do it with hahah
Only 5 minutes in but I just need to share my excitement over oeb, one of my favorite breakfast spots! Incredible potatoes
I just checked out book 59 in a mystery series, so 26 is seeming kinda short.
Ohmygosh LOVE OEB!!!! 🥰
Lock in Rob!!
I looooved this 😂😂
I collect Shakespeare plays too and I just got that Dracula book.
Have you ever heard/read of Mrs. Pollifax mystery series? Published 60s/70s, they are so fun. A mix of Agatha Christie and James Bond, cute, fun, and cozy
Here for the chaos and nature walks since I live in the super hot desert. Will autumn ever come?
There is a 27th book as well coming out in December (UK) merry mistletoe madness. ☺️
Yes these are the best videos!!
