In a show of national solidarity, the US Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels and the US Air Force's Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, conducted a series of multi-city flyovers Including New York, New Jersey & Philadelphia.
"Operation America Strong" was a collaborative salute from the Navy and Air Force to recognize healthcare workers, first responders, and essential personnel during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Joint Flyover occurred over New York City on April 28th 2020, nearly a month later after the pandemic brought NYC to a standstill.
A Joint Flyover of New York City would also occur on July of 1986. the Navy Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds would fly together for the first time to commemorate Liberty Weekend in New York City which celebrated 100 years since the French gifted the Statue of Liberty to America
