The Fun Accountant's video on the EMP501 Reconciliation using the new EasyFile system is a lifesaver! Navigating the EMP501 recon process can be intimidating, especially with recent updates, but the video made it clear, step-by-step, and easy to follow. The explanations were detailed but straightforward, covering the system’s new features, common errors, and how to avoid them, all with practical examples. I especially appreciated the tips on preparing for a smooth submission, which saved me so much time. Highly recommend for anyone needing to understand or troubleshoot the EMP501 recon-this is a must-watch!
Absolutely! The new version is definitely a step up from the previous one-those automatic updates are a game-changer, saving us all that hassle of manual installs! Only issue is with manual capturing certificates which I found easier on the old version but maybe I must only get use to the new Easyfile. Thanks for watching!
Hi Thank you for watching our video and reaching out with your question. There could be a number of reasons resulting in the issue you experience. I think the most likely reason is The “Accept Data” tab may be inactive if it’s outside the designated submission period for EMP501 declarations. Ensure and confirm that you have selected the reconciliation period at the top. If the error persist. Ensure that your eFiling username and password are correctly entered and that your profile has the necessary authorizations. Then Ensure you’re using the latest version of e@syFile™ Employer. Occasionally, technical issues can cause certain functions to become unresponsive. Restarting the application or reinstalling it after uninstalling any previous versions might resolve the problem. Remember to back up your data before reinstalling. I hope this helps you resolve the issue promptly. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask. All the best Louis Munro
I'm a sole trader and don't have a company registration number. So I can't move past the Demographics page in order to download the software. Do you have any advice for me? Thanks ELSIE
Hi Elsie! Thanks for reaching out. I understand how frustrating that can be - especially when you're a sole trader without a company registration number! In many cases it is much better to trade business as a Sole Trader. Unfortunately, Easyfile can be a bit rigid when it comes to that field. Since sole proprietors aren’t required to have a company registration number, one common workaround is to enter your ID number or fill the field with a generic value like "0000000000" or "NA." This often helps you move past the Demographics page. That said, since SARS updates Easyfile frequently, I can't guarantee this method works with the current version. I’ll investigate further and confirm the best solution. In the meantime, give this tip a try and let me know if it works for you!

Not as scary as I thought.... The new software's not bad at all!

Hi. Thank you for the video. What could be reason that the accept data tab is greyed out. I can import payroll but can't do the emp501.

@TheFunAccountant hi. Thank you for your response. This is for period 202408. Do you think that period is closed.
I'm a sole trader and don't have a company registration number.
So I can't move past the Demographics page in order to download the software.
Do you have any advice for me?
Thanks
