Had a bit of a funny fail on my shave today. I used 1/4 tsp of Droid Black PAA CK6 soap (yep, the same one from the video) and my trusty, well-used Semogue 830 boar brush. I smashed the soap into my Pereira Shavery Unbreakable lather bowl and added a total amount of 13 ml water using a syringe. The result? Practically no lather at all! I tried applying it with my brush, but it nearly vanished on my face, leaving just a thin layer. Ended up using it as a pre-shave and reloaded my brush directly from the tub. This second round of face lathering created an amazing lather! Lesson learned: the scientific approach is best left for my synthetic brushes. For my natural hair brushes, I'll stick to tub loading. It's just easier and gives me a much better lather, plus I really prefer face lathering anyway :)
@@lawrence1md I used reverse osmosis water, so hard water wasn't the issue. Gave the 1/4 tsp soap another go today with a synthetic brush and it was a total win! Synthetic brushes are my new go-to for bowl lathering - I love being able to control everything, and no soap gets wasted. Enough lather for 4-5 passes without going overboard. I agitate 75 seconds with a slightly damp synthetic brush and I’ve got a fantastic lather. This makes enough for a 3-pass shave. The problem with my method is that my soaps will last forever. I have tried a variety of soaps and it works equally well. I scoop because it’s more hygienic, it results in a more consistent lather, and it uses less soap.

I also find that with PAA CK6 formula a 10 to 15 load whether it be Badger or synthetic is plenty for a 3 pass shave. If I load any longer the lather gets really pasty and I have to add loads of water. I think some shavers load way too much.
