What’s really sad is she was probably going to a stylist to get her braids and that person never told her that her hair was too fine for braids. Thank you Crystal for mentioning everyone shouldn’t wear braids.
Protective styles DO NOT always protect!!! Natural or relaxed. I don't care how many unlicensed RUclipsrs tell you to stretch your relaxers, they don't know your hair like a professional. Please go see a professional for deep conditioning and scheduled relaxers relaxed people. Naturals, please go see a professional at least 3 to 4 times a year and have your hair silk pressed and have your ends trimmed. These curly cuts look a mess. I am seeing too many Naturals with damaged, uneven hair with and no edges, but they are bashing the relaxed people.
Also thank you for saying whether you are relaxed or natural you have to take care of your hair. Long hair isn’t always healthy but healthy hair will grow long.
The cut is beautiful on her! She definitely has the face shape for that cut. I stopped getting braids years ago. I think menopause weakened my hair follicles. I also gave up relaxers as they were not good for my fine strands.
I have ultra-fine strands and am Peri-menopausal at age 42. I went to see the trichologists to when i was 37 due to sore scalp. They were the ones who told me to remove all tension styling from my scalp and to stop wearing small braids as my hair was too fine for the constant friction. I gave up relaxers in 2009 because my stylist back then could not tell me why my hair kept bteaking despite religious salon appointments with them. I went natural and saved most of my hair. I still have damage from my genetics and relaxer/braidibg days but no one can tell but my stylist, trichologists and I.
Great look! So glad that you mentioned that braids are not for every hair type! I stopped getting them because they were pulling on my hair. People always question me and give me funny looks when I say that is why I no longer get braids. As a life natural I know what is good and what is bad for my hair. People think because their hair resembles another person’s hair that they have the same hair type which is ABSOLUTELY FALSE!
Same thing happened to me..Guess my scalp and hair decided they were no longer friends 😪😪 My hair is too fine.I Love the braids but it just hasn't worked for me..😢😢😢..Glad to know I'm not alone 🙃🫠🤗💔
Thanks for the information on relaxers. I hate going to the salon not because of the time but because of the stylist. I find over a period of time they take regulars for granted. I’m tired of looking for a good stylist.
Girl, you create some beautiful hairstyles. It’s beautiful what you have given your client. It looks nothing like the bad hair she came in with. It looks soft, shiny, healthy. I know she is happy!
OMG, Ms. Crystal, thank you for this video! This is me. You literally described me and this lady with exactly the same hair issues. What's so funny? I did a trim today and will relax tomorrow. I did say I'm going to not braid for a few months and just let my hair breathe and just keep up with washing routine. I got a relaxer in October, and as I saw it start breaking, I braided early Dec thinking I'm saving the hair. This is always how it goes I'm tired of cutting. Everyone tells me short hair looks good on me. I should wear a pixie all the time. I don't mind, but I'll like to grow my hair as well. My roots grown out they so thick. With my trim today, I managed to save a good length, and it's very healthy. My hair felt lighter and good. I'll definitely clean up the trim after relaxing. Thank you for the confirmation. I now have a better understanding of what I need to do with my hair routine and treatments.
Her style was so cute! Good job Crystal! Thank you for saying- not everyone should wear braids- they can be damaging for certain hair types! You’re right about relaxer stretches being more damaging in some cases. I’m a relaxed gal and tried stretching my relaxers for 15+ weeks and didn’t understand why my hair was breaking off. 10 weeks is my sweet spot! My hair is definitely in better shape now.
You are a pure artist with that curling iron. It was a treat watching you do this cut. Your precision was pure art also. Edit: LOVE THE FINAL. She is so pretty and you made her hair just as pretty.
My hair texture is also fine. I’m a short hair lover. I like what you did with her hair. She will be flourishing in no time now that her foundation is on a healthy state.
I love to see you perform your magic. Her hair is gorgeous and I definitely would follow through with your advice to keep my hair looking that way. Beautiful job, as always ❤
You did a great job. Wish you were in my town. i would definitely go to you. When i am happy with my stylist, i will not go to anyone else. I like how you explain everything. This style really looks amazing on her. Great video.
That cut really looks nice on her. She needs to continue coming to you regularly if she wants to go longer. Until she get her damaged hair repaired she will need to keep it short. I'm a retired cosmetologist and really enjoy your videos.
She looks amazing! I love that hairstyle on her! I’d go short in a minute if my hair would do that! I hope we’ll get to watch her as she grows out her hair.🙌🏻
Oh my goodness my hair has finally started growing out pretty long, like way down my shoulders, and I have been seriously thinking about wearing braids this coming summer and spring. My hair is super fine too. I'm so glad I watched and saw this video. I did hit a like on this video.
Crystal I am not going to lie. I was screaming. Stop. Stop. But it turn out so soft healthy manageable just beautiful. I love it. It wouldn't fit me my hair too thick.

Looks really Good. It looks good on her.

Very pretty!!!
I so agree.
Nah, I’m not straightening my hair to get it trimmed.
Also thank you for saying whether you are relaxed or natural you have to take care of your hair. Long hair isn’t always healthy but healthy hair will grow long.
Amazing. This lady's hair looks 100 times healthier after you cut and styled it. So cute ❤
