I bought my first set of rings a few weeks ago as an early birthday present. Turned 63 yesterday. I've watched a few videos but you are the best so far. Thanks for the beginner tips. ❤
I just got rings at 58...I can do tucked front lever pullup into inverted hand and finally skinned cat...and then reverse it all back to where I started. Muscle-ups are another story
Just moved from weights to rings... After 35 years of weights... And holy shit... The changes in my overall strength is amazing... I used to think I was strong, until I started on the rings
I just bought my rings and started to exercise about a month ago, but it already transformed my training. I could say that this was the missing element I was looking for. I find this video very useful, especially the info about the "false grip". For those who are just starting: Do it in small steps, it WILL pay off.
I had 4 babies in 4 years. My arms are so strong! But my core... Haha. All gone. Your ring exercises gave me a boost in confidence to move from my daily walk with the dog. I am now doing rings, walking, skipping and chin ups on our stairs. I think I was scared I could no longer be fit after babies because I had left it. Thank you!!!
Got some 1" x 9' long NRS heavy duty tie down straps and rings some years ago. One of the best investments I ever made for strength training. I only very recently got back into using them and am going all the way this time, with regular workouts. Already after several weeks, I went from barely being able to get into the support position at all to doing ring dips with close to full ROM and can hold the support position for at least 25 seconds. The NRS straps are very, very solid and are extremely quick and easy to adjust. Much easier than the straps that came with my rings with the larger buckles. The NRS straps are rated for lashing up to 1,500 pounds so I don't have any concerns about durability. Rings are mentally stimulating and rewarding, which goes even further beyond the strength gains. As your body adapts and can do more and more complex movements, it proves to be really rewarding and satisfying and encourages you to keep going. Same reason I prefer shadowboxing for my cardio workout: I'm practicing old skills and building new skills as I get a workout. The workout at times almost feels like a byproduct of learning a new skill, and at that point it feels more like fun than working out and it can be hard to stop. More and more of my spare time is spent messing around on the rings or doing calisthenics on the floor, simply trying to find if I can move my body in new ways due to increases in strength. So my baseline activity level has also gone up just for the enjoyment of it. The rewards we get from ring training are tremendous. So finally, thanks for sharing this video and all the tips you provided. Very helpful and also very motivating for someone who's just getting back into ring training and is excited to train my body and grow stronger.
Just got a pair of rings... it was really helpful to know that they are less stable the lower they are. I couldn't support myself lower - but up higher I can at least hold for 5 seconds. Thanks for the useful video!
That would explain why I couldn't do decent dips a my in laws (longer drop over stairs) vs then at my home (rings off a door bar). Thanks for the heads up.
Thanks mate! I live in an apartment and have no calisthenics park nearby... Spent months thinking about buying dips bar and pull ups bar and where to put them (my aparmente is really super small), but I guess I'll buy a couple fo rings now! Even if it's harder than bars, I'm sure I'm gonna make... Just need more time and training harder!!
bruh, I have a calisthenics park in my family house yard that I currently live (high pull up and dips bar) but I am convinced that when I move to an apartment alone (I am planning to travel to another country) I will only get a pair of rings and enjoy every work out in some park hanging them from a tree
My rings hang outside at home and it's lovely to get fresh air while beginning the rings journey. This video shows I've made a good start after just a few outings - wonderful feeling at 73.
Day 1 with rings and I couldn't do a single dip properly and thought may be it's me because parralel bar dips are waaay easier. Feel more confident after this video. Thanks man.
I bought my rings about a week ago. I've done what you've said in this video, and I just did my first ring dip. I'm watching again to see what more I can do, what goals to set, and to say thank you showing me how to make these enjoyable.
Thanks for the great tips! Just recently got my rings up and starting to learn how to incorporate ring training into my fitness routine. Can't do anything yet, being so outta shape for so many years, so am starting out on just doing holds for time. Am definitely looking forward to learning and progressing with them. Thanks again!
Just ordered mine today. I come with an open mind towards these, I tried many other kinds of exercise equipment, so I'm excited to see what these have to offer.
I bought my first set of rings recently but haven't really got a chance to workout with them. I just want to say, I love you man and i love this video. It gave me just what I needed. Thanks
Great vid! My rings are on order! Should be here this coming week. I will be using your guidance to get me started. Wish I had done this years ago! Yours look very easy to adjust to various heights I hope the ones I have ordered are like that. They had good reviews on Amazon! Thank you! Btw, I will be 71 this year. I love Bodyweight training.
Just setup a pull-up bar in the house and have also purchased some rings - cannot wait to start using them. Thank you for the video, it's just what I needed.
I am amazed to see this video in my feed! I was literally on the rings in my community this morning. Uncanny coincidence? Or does the RUclips algorithm know me much better than I think? 🧐
Started off my calisthenics journey late last year by watching your introduction video, after finally losing the weight I wanted to get rid of with cardio. I started with all the basic stuff, push-ups etc. 20 reps, then 40 reps, then 60 reps. I then followed your follow-up video. Yesterday I held a back lever for 10 seconds, several handstands for 10 seconds and L-sits are going good as well. Starting from this week I'll gradually start to work towards the human flag. Might try and go for the front lever as well at some point. Odds are I'll replace the basic excersises with ring variants sometime soon to keep improving. I'll let you know after the summer how I've progressed, haha. Wish me luck! Lastly I'd like to thank you, very much. As you've been of great help and I very much appreciate all your videos. Quite proud how far I've come even though it can be intimidating considering I'm 190cm tall. But you got me there! Keep it up pal! :)
@@sreekanthpillai7778 I have incorporated ring excersises and have been able to hold the back lever for somewhere inbetween 15-20 seconds. Haven't progressed too much because of an arm injury I sustained a month 2 or after the comment. Wasn't from the excersises btw. Never had trouble because of them. So yeah, had to get back to my old level again. Back lever is solid again. Might re-try the human flag sometime this year now that my strength is back. All in all, his videos helped a lot and I reckon I would have progressed pretty far had I not gotten injured. My ring excersises were from several other videos as well though. Archer pushups in rings, assisted one arm pull-ups, L-Sits and that kinda stuff.
I've been watching your videos recently and I really like them. They're concise, precise and extremely helpful. You're doing a great job, thanks a lot!
If he cuts the rings from 2x4s there will be a weak part of the grain where it could snap, fall & injure himself. Don’t DIY these I asked a carpenter friend of mine & he said no way.
I bought mine here ruclips.net/user/redirect?q=http%3A%2F%2Famzn.to%2F2xVRPNW&v=MbhFOBoS1J8&redir_token=W4P-yGTp0XYJ_Z61eggkANLXkK98MTUzNDYxMDYyOUAxNTM0NTI0MjI5&event=video_description (recommended by Antranik on this video: ruclips.net/video/MbhFOBoS1J8/видео.html) and I have absolutely no regrets. The rings are high-quality, including the tough nylon straps and steel clamping buckles that allow you to adjust strap length easily. I'm so glad I bought these. This is a great video, BTW.
I simply hang of the rings and focus entirely on my breathing. Your body will naturally start seeing what its capable of. Your breath is really where your strength is, I find that as I focus on my breath it becomes deeper and I find more strength and control over my body, naturally holding more difficult positions and the main advantage I find is that when you focus on your breath you don't over exert yourself, I actually feel stronger towards the end of my session and don't feel sore the next day even though I trained for like an hour. I find that this is a much better approach than pushing for reps or forcing yourself into positions your not really ready for.
Thank you so much for this informative and well-produced video. I recently bought a pair of rings and was discouraged because they were so hard to use. But when I saw that you, too had struggled with them at first, I was encouraged to continue. I find that I make slow, but steady progress. I was particularly inspired by what you said at the end: _The hardest thing to do is the first step. But once you get on the path, you'll never look back._ Q: You say that rings work the whole body. Do they really work the legs?
Thanks Pal! Progressing in my calisthenics training, and excited to one day start training on rings. This is very inspiring, and I'm sure I will watch this video multiple times.
This was an excellent introduction to rings. I could not have imagined a better sequence of exercises, from the ultimate baby basics to the first steps to competence. Sold! I think that rings are the very sort of thing that I've been looking for for years but never thought about.
I'm the same as you. I would never ever have though of doing rings. Then after coming across some callisthenics videos of them, I have got some. Starting out at age 46.
I'm amazed at all the muscles that weightlifting misses. I've been doing the usual bench presses, rows, lateral raises etc but I still didn't have the shoulder strength to muscle up into a head or handstand. So, I bought a large set of dip bars to use as parallel bars. 50 years ago, I used to work the parallel bars in high school. All those muscles are gone now. I just got my ring set in today so between the parallel bars and the rings I should make some quantum leaps in shoulder strength. But, I've got to remind myself to go slow. I'm 75 years old and don't recover and repair as quickly as when I was 18. Your video is excellent as it shows easier variations and even shows how to hook up the rings. I wasn't sure if the strap was one big loop or if it also got wrapped around the rings and high bar.
I'd get wooden rings because they help you grip them better, absorbing sweat etc. As per the thickness/grip diameter, they mainly come in two measurements: 28 mm and 32 mm. I believe 28 is the official measurement, but most gymnasts are short and have smaller hands. I am 190 cm tall (6'3") and have big hands, so I went for 32 mm and they are super comfortable!
I love the tips in this video. I’ve seen a bunch of ring videos and combine the knowledge but this one is great on its own. There’s definitely more to learn elsewhere but this level of knowledge coming from a man wearing a shit is great. My brother and I use to workout in longs-leaves amounts the tank tops and there was nothing to hide. Sometimes it cold and not about the show
Great video I’ve recently got some rings pretty rubbish at it at the moment but I’m determined to improve, you videos are just the motivation I need to improve and progress. 👍🏻
I'm a bodybuilder who has now been doing a lot more mixing and up strongman stuff and powerlifting stuff and now I am going to get some rings. I was never strong as a bodybuilder but doing more more calisthenics and weighted pull-ups and dips and now, red,... I am getting stronger than ever. This video gets me pumped, and ordering my range from Amazon. Thanks!
Really good Video, I have been watching your Videos now for 2 Months and it is like a drug. You encouraged me to start Calisthenics from the first Video, and I spent my hole pocket money on equipment.
I got some on ebay for $20 us some time back with plastic rings. I love them with the adjustable strap. I hang it on my perfect pull up. That is awesome as well.
I have just put together a bodyweight mini gym at my yard. I installed a fixed pull up bar, a parallel bar (the ones the go in the wall too), and I just ordered the rings. I also put together a slosh pipe and some parallettes. I think I will build some strength using the fixed bars first, before attempting the rings.
Wow! Just tried both the stabilising methods.. I can hold for about 10 secs, but woah.. that's work! I felt more after those few seconds than after 20 mins of arm exercises! Not only that that, but I felt muscles in my back that I've never felt despite many attempts to hit all the muscle groups. Haven't even done one dip yet! Lol. Thank you!
I'm no expert with ring training. But you can do lunges and put you feet in one of the rings or do one leg squads and support yourself a little with the rings (sorry, no native speaker)
Thanks. Well done! Can't wait for my rings to arrive. Your video taught me I need to start slow and progress in small steps. At 70 years old that shouldn't be a problem. 😂
fantastic video. simple and easy to follow and understand exercises for beginners on rings. I have had my rings for while and needed some simple advice to get started, this video has really helped thank you....
Been there bro haha. I think there are tons of variations with rings though that can build up. I am alright with pushups ((20 decent ones) but can't do a pull up to save my life.
Thanks for sharing! I had a 2 level back fusion about 9 months ago and started working out at home. I bought some rings a few weeks ago and they are a challenge. Not only am I getting stronger but endurance is getting much better also. A must have for anyone at any stage of working out.
Nothing will rip you up like rings, they are proper hard, but so worth the effort to learn, and like the man said, it's the beginning that is the hardest
Very good video for beginners like me. Totally couraging to GetToTheRings ! My rings are two weeks old and I strongly believe that You are on to something. Thumbs up!
Ćwiczę na kole cyrkowym i wydaje mi się, że dałabym radę na kółkach, ale brak wiedzy jak zacząć wstrzymywał mnie od zaczęcia przygody z nimi. Do dziś! Filmik jest ekstra, biorę się za kółka!
Hey TrainingPal, thanks for the informative and quality content. You’ve obviously worked hard to get to your point. Rings always made me curious; when I tried them back when I went to the gym, I failed horribly. I will watch this later to attempt to conquer rings at some point. Much brotherly love, and may God be with you!
I bought my first set of rings a few weeks ago as an early birthday present. Turned 63 yesterday. I've watched a few videos but you are the best so far. Thanks for the beginner tips. ❤
Tbh I'm just glad to see an instructor with a top on
I think the end goal is being comfortable with shirtless training...
its winter
I was thinking it would be nice to see without a top to see how much pec and arm development can be gained using the rings.
@@Symbolicliving Yeah, and especially just seeing which muscles are being used and how the person orients their body

Why I watch your videos: 20% for the fitness 80% for nature and scenery
Haha, thanks mate. Now I know it's worth it spending time finding those places :)
Deffinetly
The best thing is that with rings you take gym outside and workout on fresh air
yeah!
Y'all have any recommendations to where can I fix them ?
Best beginner rings video hands down. Straight to the point, and all baby steps included. Prefect
I just bought my rings and started to exercise about a month ago, but it already transformed my training. I could say that this was the missing element I was looking for.

Just got a pair of rings... it was really helpful to know that they are less stable the lower they are. I couldn't support myself lower - but up higher I can at least hold for 5 seconds. Thanks for the useful video!
Nice work. Stabilization get better quickly so soon you will be doing supports on long straps :)

I believe 28 is the official measurement, but most gymnasts are short and have smaller hands. I am 190 cm tall (6'3") and have big hands, so I went for 32 mm and they are super comfortable!
I am 75 years old and just started enjoying rings thanks to guys like you. Dean I have to agree with you
Lord of the rings!
Lift you fools...
Ivan Frakin 😂😂😂😂
@@ivanfrakin good one!😂😂
@Rakt
I entered to write the same
Only Yuri Chechi is Lord of the rings
I love the tips in this video. I’ve seen a bunch of ring videos and combine the knowledge but this one is great on its own. There’s definitely more to learn elsewhere but this level of knowledge coming from a man wearing a shit is great. My brother and I use to workout in longs-leaves amounts the tank tops and there was nothing to hide. Sometimes it cold and not about the show
Excellent beginners tutorial. Thank-you...
Great video I’ve recently got some rings pretty rubbish at it at the moment but I’m determined to improve, you videos are just the motivation I need to improve and progress. 👍🏻
thanks for your videos, it's exactly how i want to progress :)
Very useful video. I just learned about rings and am buying my first set. Thanks for the helpful tips on how best to start using them.
fuuuuuuuuuuuckk yeeeeeesssssss. so excited to get ripped and talk with a slick russian accent
Nikko Quinones he's polish
russian accent is worse than polish. Trust me, as person from poland I can tell you that russian and polish accent is really diffrent.
from the accent I thought he was a Finn
I'm a bodybuilder who has now been doing a lot more mixing and up strongman stuff and powerlifting stuff and now I am going to get some rings. I was never strong as a bodybuilder but doing more more calisthenics and weighted pull-ups and dips and now, red,... I am getting stronger than ever. This video gets me pumped, and ordering my range from Amazon. Thanks!
Subscribed! Just found your channel. Good content. Thanks bro.
Thank you!
I already have rings At home, but when I see Your video now, i will put IT to my routine workout, nothing come easy!!!! Hard work🙏 Thanks Man!!!
top man! now i know what to do with my rings!
I just got rings - I switched to them after I was developing golfers elbow from straight bar pull-ups - I’m excited to see what I can do!
Friend: "Ohhh so what you been watching on youtube?" Me: "Just some dude playing with his ring in the woods!"
Hah
Really good Video, I have been watching your Videos now for 2 Months and it is like a drug. You encouraged me to start Calisthenics from the first Video, and I spent my hole pocket money on equipment.
What's the best brand for gymnastics rings and where do you recommend to look for them online?
I got some on ebay for $20 us some time back with plastic rings. I love them with the adjustable strap. I hang it on my perfect pull up. That is awesome as well.
This video is not just about rings exercise but much needed motivation too...
OMG on 1:18 view is beautiful. Love Fall
I have just put together a bodyweight mini gym at my yard. I installed a fixed pull up bar, a parallel bar (the ones the go in the wall too), and I just ordered the rings. I also put together a slosh pipe and some parallettes. I think I will build some strength using the fixed bars first, before attempting the rings.
great video dude!
Lol. Thank you!
I cant wait to get me some rings. Although how would you do legs?
I'm no expert with ring training. But you can do lunges and put you feet in one of the rings or do one leg squads and support yourself a little with the rings (sorry, no native speaker)
@@hornsteinhof7592
I see. Yes I do one legged squats and the rings would help get a few extra reps in. Thank you. Your English is perfect by the way.
@@JoshuaBurton110213 Thanks mate, good luck with exercising those legs
Thanks. Well done! Can't wait for my rings to arrive. Your video taught me I need to start slow and progress in small steps. At 70 years old that shouldn't be a problem. 😂
great video man
fantastic video. simple and easy to follow and understand exercises for beginners on rings. I have had my rings for while and needed some simple advice to get started, this video has really helped thank you....
what am i doing here, watching the whole video... i cant even do a push up
...start training ;)
WallFlee I couldn’t do a proper push up 6 months ago, now I can do up to 30-40 without stopping and around 10 pull ups. Train.
Big oof
Been there bro haha. I think there are tons of variations with rings though that can build up. I am alright with pushups ((20 decent ones) but can't do a pull up to save my life.
thank you, great video and tips. I'm brand new to this ( did weights for decades). Trying to build strength with TRX and bodyweight exercises for now.
Couldn't take him seriously. He was wearing a shirt.
Just started using the rings and very helpful and informative.
This is exactly the level I've been searching for. I have weak upper body so thank you for the guidance!
Great tips for beginners. It's amazingly hard to build strength when you haven't done these sorts of exercise for years. Thank you.
Very good video for beginners like me. Totally couraging to GetToTheRings ! My rings are two weeks old and I strongly believe that You are on to something. Thumbs up!
Thanks for the video. I have limited equipment, just a pull up station and rings. I am trying to progress beyond just ring dips.
Just bought a set of these and already practiced a bit. Love them. Cant wait to start progressing
Got my rings I'm going for it 49 years old with posture rhomboid weakness. Thank-you!
Very well done sir. I learned more here in a few minutes than Anywhere else that I've seen so far.
Ćwiczę na kole cyrkowym i wydaje mi się, że dałabym radę na kółkach, ale brak wiedzy jak zacząć wstrzymywał mnie od zaczęcia przygody z nimi. Do dziś! Filmik jest ekstra, biorę się za kółka!
I jak progress? Ja jutro zaczynam z ringami 💪🏻
Excellent advice for beginners!
I wish I'd known about rings 30 years ago.
I've just started and find them superior to weights training.
Thanks.
