Dimash is from Kazakhstan (in Central Asia, between Europe and Asia). Dimash is Eurasian. Here he performed a French song in a highly popular singing reality competition in China. SINGER 2017 is a singing competition/show that is only for invited established professional singers who's already popular in China. Dimash was the exception here. He was invited by the producers of this show as an experimental wild card competitor. Dimash is from Kazakhstan, he was not popular, not established and an unknown in China. Dimash (DEE-mosh) is from Kazakhstan. 22 years old in this Chinese "I Am Singer" competition of hand selected professional singers in China.
Kazakhstan is the northernmost and largest -stan, pushed up against Russia and China. He is fluent in Kazakh and Russian, but sings phonetically in many languages (12?). He is learning Chinese and English. His English is actually pretty good, but just accent issues really.
He had been training for about 17 years before this competition, his first international one. This was the first performance of the first night of the 2017 competition, so a very cold open. All the other singers in the "green room" are established professionals with strong followings in China. Yeah, they are all in shock, but some handle it rather gracefully. So the foreigner to the Chinese show decides to win them over with a French song? Crazy.
Oddly enough, this is a really good song for a first Dimash experience. It hits you with one little shock at a time, so you can recover a bit.
Try Sinful Passion next from the Sochi concert. Then maybe Love Is Like A Dream in the purple suit. And also Olimpico (Ogni Pietra).
The first two are in Russian and the third is in Italian. Use the captions and english subtitles. For Olimpico you may have to set it to auto-translate to Italian, but that is okay since it translates well. Russian is tricky, but much of his best work is in Russian. Olimpico is essentially an opera, but with somewhat modernized orchestration. He also does a few duets and such with female opera singers. His mother's an opera singer and his dad is more of a pop singer/producer. He had a LOT of classical training and then continued that into university. 3 degrees or so at this point.
Dimash is considered to be the best vocalist of our time. A once a generation talent. There is so much to explore with this man. I could go on for days, but the DEARS I see are already filling you in. ;)

He was singing in a Chinese competition for professional singers here, and he was the opener of the first episode. He won this episode and several others, but finished the competition as runner-up.
I recommend Opera 2 for you, his second round in this competition. He has so much fun there and just plays with the crowd. His competitors make more desperate faces, but in the end they love him.
Another stunning performance is Sinful Passion. He is showing so many different timbres and vocal qualities here that you may think that there are multiple singers on stage.
For Dimash singing opera, I recommend Ti Amo Così, where he sings in a trio with opera soprano Aida Garifullina and singer-songwriter Lara Fabian, his childhood idol.
Finally, he is lifting you to the heavens in Love Is Like A Dream when he sings like an angel. You will also find his name perfectly pronounced in this video before the music starts.

Several vocal coaches have surmised that Dimash was trained all the way through going through puberty and his deep tones came in and this is why he was able to keep his higher notes. Dimash is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan, he started singing lessons and 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university educated with degrees in classical opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has just (18th June 2020) completed his Masters specialising in Composition and Piano, and receiving his Masters degree with Honours, having achieved the maximum score of 100% and has just started his PhD in Musicology. His range is over 6 octaves (almost 7 now) but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is very good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it.
In this performance he was 22 and in a competition for famous professional singers in China he was invited as a wildcard and was the only non Chinese and also the youngest competitor. After this one song he was catapulted to stardom and is now a huge pop star in China. He is now also famous in Russia mainly for his neo classical work with Igor Krutoy and many of those works are very operatic.He is also, thanks to RUclips very famous throughout the world. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register has hit a D8 for 5 seconds with vibrato. He was on a solo world tour until covid-19 and in his concerts he sings for around 3 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. He is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 instruments but can play just about anything. He is 26 now, and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum (in 37 seconds) album in China though, and is about to releasehis 2nd album shortly. It has been recognised that his high notes are not whistle, but head voice, Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does its spectacular like everything else about him. He has billions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dear to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having, he has worked very hard for the past 20 plus years and now his dreams as a young 5 year old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018 where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. His recent sellout world tour has been postponed due to the covid-19 epidemic but will restart when its safe to do so. He has concerts lined up in Dusseldorf, Prague and Minsk there will be others. He has just held a massive global online concert, Dimash Digital Show on the American tixr platform which broke all records for sales for a non American artist. You just heard Dimash perform one of the 5 hardest songs in the world for any singer; and he
'kills" it. He's one and only of his talent, he sings low and high, every note on a piano is his usual range, and some notes not on the piano. He does it with no effort like that is normal. Dee-MAhsh KOO-die-burr-gen(as in get) is pronunciation of his name, RUSSIAN AND KAZAKH are his best languages and he can speak English very well on tv without interpreter but has a slight accent. He also speaks some other languages at varying levels. He is the best vocalist in the world right now and maybe of all time. He is composer, singer, multi instrumentalist, crosses genres of music(opera,rap,pop rock,jazz,R&B, any genre you can think of he has or can perform in. Kudaibergen means "gift from God" and that he is; some call him an angel, others an alien, he does things with his voice and no one knows how he does them. Following him is wonderful journey, and if you find yourself having to listen to him every day; welcome to the club, there are millions of others doing that already.

It's so fun for us "Dears" (that’s what Dimash calls his fans because he loves us as a dear family) to see how people react to him.
Some info about Dimash. He is from Kazakhstan and has been music schooled sense 5 years old and told the teacher that the piano was out of tune! He sings about 6-7 octaves or so! No one knows he is still learning. He sings higher than the piano can go! He also writs and compose own songs, plays bunch of instruments including Dombra there own Kazakh instrument that has a sound you can’t believe! He also sings in about 12 languages and speaks 3 so far. He is born in May 24 1994.
Dimash has an excellent education: he graduated from the College of Music with a degree in Opera Singing, university of arts in the specialty "Estrada and jazz vocals", and on June 18, 2020, he completed a master's degree in Composition. He graduated with a degree in opera from the music school at the University of Aktobe (2014), a degree in pop/jazz from the National Arts University in Nur Sultan (2018), just completed his Master's degree in composition (June 2020) and approved to start his PhD.
He have done some contests in his life but the one I think got the worlds intension is "The Singer" (also called "I am a singer" or "Singer") from China in 2017. The Singer is a program for established Chinese singers to face off against each other on invites only in a competition where votes were cast by an audience of 500.
Dimash Kudaibergen was a last-minute inclusion (a 'dark horse'). But his performance of 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' electrified the audience, his fellow competitors and the viewers who numbered in the billions (this program was one of the most-watched in China and outside).
They also got him the nickname "Imported little brother" the day after the show. They also had to get bodyguard for Dimash do to the famous over night both in China and also the world. Dimash wasn’t really prepared for that. He had come to China at 22 years young man by him self and didn’t know the language. They hade contracted him for 2 shows because they didn’t think he cold go further than that. He didn’t think they would like him. So he was nervous this performers that he had also to start the show with. But they hade to change that do to his famous over night.
Dimash got many new friends from this show and he said at some point he learned a lot from it to.

The best moment in this show was just after Dimash started thanking everyone and saw his father there. He didn’t know he was there. Just after they got out of that room Dimash turns to his father and asks if he did good! When Dimash was gonna go in to the other contestants he again turned to his father and asked him if he done good! That’s the kind of man he is humble, loving and respectful.

Gloria Wu's channel has the back-story about the song that is so sad and from a life story about a boy losing his parents in an awful way. Also you get to hear how Dimash sounds like then loosing his voice the day of the show!!! When he went on he didn’t know if he could sing. Looking close at the other contestants they where so worried about him. He lost his voice again after. Li Jian another contestant bought him a very very expensive Chinese medication for him so he could get better soon!

Episode 10 : 'Unforgettable Day' In Kazakh and I think some translation in Chinese to. If I remember correct he wrote the music to this one when he was 17 or 19 years old and lyrics by Oral Baisengir, who was a poet/lyricist father of a friend of Dimash. Also in this show another contestant "Terry Lin" that was about 51 years young here he considered Dimash a dear friend at this point. But Dimash started telling them al he was his father around episode 9 I think!! That is a big respect and love from his part of the world to call him! Terry was gladly accepting it. They are still that close and also invites each other to there concerts and sometimes singing this song in duet to. They sang it in Jackie Chang movie festival in 2019 and Jackie was choked in how good they were. Terry was known as an alien before Dimash and they have similar vocals to.

He is highly educated with undergrad degrees in classical and contemporary singing, a Master's in composition and now he has started his doctorate. Dimash has a range of nearly 7 octaves (from baritone to soprano to whistle notes)and impeccable vocal technique. He uses various timbres and textures, dynamics, breath control as if he paints the notes in different colors and shades. He is come from Kazakhstan. He participated at chinese competition. That song was writed by someone from my place. French area in Canada named Quebec. I know that song since 50 years ago. Many people have interpreting that sont from Quebec to France. But i think Dimash have gave the real soul of that song.

Congratulations on your reaction, Dimash is a very humble and simple boy, for what i have read and seen he highly appreciates his roots and exposes them when he can in his presentations. He is very respectful of everyone and kind. He was competing in The World´s Best in 2019 but he retired. This caused annoyance in Rupaul but Dimash was more concerned with leaving the little ones that competed with him frustrated and seeing the level and quality that he has, he would very likely have won. By the way the prize was of 1,000,000.00 dollars.

He uses techniques from opera, modern lyric, ethnic, glam, hard rock and pop environments.

He shows off his range in most songs, and he's gotten even better, especially in his deeper tones, since being on The Singer in 2017. "Ogni Pietra" is mostly operatic. His pure opera often shows less range, because he sings lower to let the women singing with him go high. It's Dee-MOSH. "Ti Amo Cosi" with Aida Garifullina and Lara Fabian is operatic. So is "Ulisse" a duet with Aida Garifullina. He does some avant garde opera that does use his range in "Notre Dame de Paris." He's now 26 and will turn 27 in late May.

Dimash is one of a kind, as you said, he can sing everything; he defines himself as a "meloman", he loves all kinds of music, including opera of course ... but he chose not to limit himself to it, opera has its rules and its forms, things are interpreted in a certain way, and there is not much room for creativity and doing things differently, that is why he declined the offer to join an Opera house, and chose to pursue his own path. But sometimes he warms up his voice playing with the aria Queen of the Night, and some of his pieces have a more operatic vibe. He has some modern cantatas composed specifically for him, where he goes from a rich baritone to a soprano sound. I know "soprano" is not the correct word for a male, but believe me, in the high pitched register, he sometimes sounds like a female soprano, not a countertenor. And in the not so upper range, he is able to sound like a tenor or a contralto. That's how versatile he is, and how astonishing is the control he has over his voice. ARTIST FACTS: DIMASH KUDAIBERGEN is a Kazakh singer, songwriter, & multi-instrumentalist. Born in Aktobe Kazakhstan, Central Asia: May 24, 1994. He was trained in classical & contemporary music, and is well known for his exceptional widest vocal range.
I still browse the music videos of Dimash from time to time to see what still store in there. I’m just wondering how much effort and strength Dimash had invested into it, to reach such a powerful voice and the many other talents that he had. Indeed it is really a great work. How he was able to develop such a heights of his talents is really admirable and worth learning and imitating. And it is much more beautiful because he sang it by heart, naturally and at his heart’s content with joyful disposition.
The discipline, dedication and high ideals in pursuing his career the best he can is worth imitating not only in our individual professional fields but also in living out our day to day life. His hard work for years is indeed bearing good fruits in abundance. And so my heartfelt congratulations to Dimash and his family and all others who supported him all the way through as a musician. For me as a public listener it counts a lot the personal disposition of the artist and the good content and message of its music.
The fact that, he is able to sing his music at maximum or more than 6 octaves with ease and comfort in different languages and in various voices is really amazing. But some others also cannot handle and cannot even believe the power, the strength and the heights of his voice…and they said Ooh… is Dimash human..? Alien..? Etc, I think It’s just a natural reaction that people wonder and be surprise by it or cannot even believed it at all, it’s because it is beyond human expectation.
I believed that Dimash 21 year’s cultivation of his voice and talents is no tricks and no magic at all; though he is gifted by God with grace for music but his years of hard work of practice and experiences proved it to us and to the world … that indeed it is possible. My other concern whenever I listen to music is that, I usually ask: WHAT MESSAGE THIS MUSIC BRINGS ..? TO THE WORLD..? TO PEOPLE..?
Although Dimash music are very good, full of content and meaning but I like most this music, because for me it speaks a message of truth, values and realities of human life. I feel that, it is not just enough to give my thumbs up to like this music, but I’m deeply moved to share something more about the richness and deeper meaning of it.
With due respect to the composers, writers and singers of these music for whatever their purpose and intention would be, will always take precedence. The thoughts that I will be sharing below is only the fruits of my personal reflections based on the things that I highly valued and on how I perceived it myself and the message of this song that reaches out to me. I like this music because it reminds me the Truth, Realities and Precariousness of Human Life particularly Suffering and Death)
SONG FACTS: The song is from French Rock Opera called Starmania. Originally it was sung by Daniel Balavoine who had a sudden death in a helicopter accident in 1986, who is known of his beautiful voice. Later, it was covered by Gregory Lemarchal, a young French singer who inspired Dimash to sing “SOS d'un terrien en detresse” who at all odds won the 4th series Reality TV Program Star Academy, despite his failing health and became an overnight success in France but had a shorter career, for he died young with his unusual illness of Cystic Fibrosis in 2007 at the age of 23.
Recently it was unbelievably covered by Dimash and from time to time Dimash sung it in memory of his great friend Denis Ten an Olympic figure skater from Kazakhstan who was stabbed after a dispute with people who allegedly tried to steal a mirror from his car in his home city of Almaty. He died of massive blood loss from multiple wounds at the age of 25 in 2018. The song has sad lyrics: “a soul’s plea for help or an earthly being in distress” because it is a human being who is in anguish searching for the absolute.
MY THOUGHTS AND OPINION OF THIS SONG (REF CCC): Suffering and death is one of the realities of human life. It is important that we should know the basic truth about it, so that it will not cause us fear and distress in our human life’s , but rather to remind us all of our ultimate destiny as people of faith. For me, there are 3 kinds of suffering we experienced in life:
1st suffering that God allows, 2nd suffering which is the results of our own choices and decisions and 3rd is the suffering which is cause by other people to us. In whatever forms of suffering we are experiencing, know that, if it is discerned well it will gain us eternal merit. Note that, it is not important how much and how long we suffer, or who cause us to suffer, but how is our attitude towards it when it comes into our life…? All of these three can be an opportunity of grace that we will grow in virtue, when we accept it with humility, discernment and faith in God.
Our usual human tendency is, if we can, we try to avoid any kind of pain and suffering in our life. However we can’t deny also that life is mixed up of many learning experiences both in joys and in difficulties and I supposed we need it both, because it contributes and helps us mature and grow over time in many aspects of life. Suffering and death may seem contrary to our own human thinking or world’s way of thinking but in it, there’s a certain wisdom which is richer and deeper that no one can fully understand.
Suffering reminds us the real fact that we are all fragile human beings; that we are limited and we are not God. Sufferings are human reality and consequences of sin that affects us all. It helps us see the real worth and value of things and meaning in life. It sharpens our awareness that this earth is not our permanent and true home. We should remember that we are only strangers and pilgrims on this earth”.
Suffering purifies and refines us of any life’s superficiality into an authentic one. Though no one really is actively searching for suffering in his / her life, but honestly truth compels us to admit that sufferings do have a great value in our life and by experiencing it personally in reality, you will never be the same person. But through the original sin that enters human lives, our nature has been wounded, and is now subject to suffering and death.
Death for us is a frightening mystery because we are being stripped off of all our attachments to this world; our body lies corrupt; our immortal soul goes to meet the Lord. We will see the whole truth of our lives. Death creates in us a feelings of fear, separation, sadness and pain.
Many times we evade this reality and we try to question and even argue with God why…? But all our efforts failed because whether we like it or not at the end, we all die. Death comes in our life anytime anywhere. No material things, good health, young age can guarantee of its extension. The truth is… in front of death we are all poor and powerless.
If this life were the only one we had, death would definitely be the great tragedy. Death is such a peaceful, joyful event in our life, if we die reconciled with God and at peace with others as well. Death is unknown to all of us, therefore, it is best that we should prepare at all times.
