Coming from Australia, it’s hard to tell when you guys swap between kts and mph.. I assumed this “120-130” was mph, but by the fact people are impressed in the comments.. is this actually kts?
The engine and avionics are over half of the cost of this plane alone. Aviation has become ridiculously expensive. Still couple hundred grand less than the price of a new husky. I would love to own one of these. If I ever won the lottery, there would be signs, there would definitely be one of these in my hangar.
Everything aviation is just unreasonable. How can a normal person making under 100k ever afford this. I should not be more than a luxury car. Especially considering it’s fabric.
@@Curious_Skeptic When you think about its its really insane! Im looking to get a c140, luscomebe or some nice taildragger. A 1950s plane usualy fabric cost more than a new car! Its stupid. @@excellenceinanimation960 Well, I can justify the pricing for buying and owning a beautiful vintage craft! Not long ago, a Cessna 150 was VERY CHEAP and 172 was certainly doable for most anyone. J3s have gone up, but mostly due to sports pilot tickets. One of the few planes you can legally fly with a SP license. NO MEDICAL. What blows my mind is all the companies who make Light Sport craft that are 100-300k! They are obviously targeting the folks who have the money, but can't qualify for a full pilot license. The other issue is, FAA is the one who drives the pricing up! The super complex task of getting certification for anything from a bolt and washer, to the full engine, costs mega money. The part isn't super special, but the certification for aircraft grade sure is! And yes, what fails the most? The engines! Always at the worse possible time too! LOL. A lot of good certification gets you! I can go on and on. I made it to around 67 hours of flight training and had to walk away as the price of even lessons and plane rental became insane. Even a friend of mine giving me a break, it got to be silly. Now, at 250 an hour for plane and instructor, uhg! AND THAT price keeps going up! Even when fuel comes down, everyone else jacks up the prices still.
Airplanes are expensive unfortuanly. I hope to help companies that are making it more affordable for everyone. Right now engines, prop and avionics alone can run well over $100-150k before you even start building the airplane. Hopefully the new MOASIC rules will allow aircraft manufactures to innovate and developed cheaper aircraft that more people can afford. The Patriot is designed as the premier backcountry airplane with all premium components. This comes with a price on par with the industry.
Just found the channel, love it and love this plane. Those fold down doors reminded me of my time in the low-level phase of Army fixed wing school in the Bird Dog. Summer in Alabama practicing landing on hill sides of a cow pasture and the instructor in the rear seat insisted the doors remain down and he ended up with a lap full of cow crap. He wasn't amused at all and I almost got pink slipped for my uncontrolled laughter.
Great presentation and very thorough. In ancient times, you had to sit in the back seat when soloing to balance the J3 and you had a bent wire with a cork to judge your fuel with out the windshield. But it was still the most bang for the buck. Your patriot airplanes look like pure luxury to me without taking away the charm of the backcountry flying.
Great Video!!! I've learned more about light, tail-dragger, aircraft in that 34 minute video than I ever learned about any other kind of aircraft in the last 14 years! Frankly, if I wasn't 68 years old, (maybe 5 or 7 years younger), I'd probably look into buying one of these, (even over the J-3 Super Cub). There's so many things about this plane that one would never realize by just looking at it. Without even getting into the Nav system or flight characteristics, the video just blew me away when it came to how easy it was to get to the instrument wiring or the elevator and rudder control system! I must confess that I would go with the Mark II, tri-prop model but then, I wouldn't turn my back on the Mark One either! This 34 minute video touched on so many important points that it would have to be a video I'd recommend to anyone who is considering getting a private pilot's license. That's because it brings up all the important things that ANY pilot, or 'soon-to-be-pilot' would need to know about a single-engine, light aircraft. Thanks for the lesson! Rich

Great video. It would be really interesting to see a video that compares the different types of "newerCubs", like this one (obviously), Carbon Cub, Legend Cub etc.
for the mark2- I'd choose the AM20T- $26,500, 260hp constant, 300hp for 5 minutes (very fast takeoff), still 20Lbs. lighter flight ready. also the AM20T is turbo, so high altitude climb power still available, where a naturally aspirated engine goes weak.
You said a limited number available, so I guess I couldn't get TWO! Excellent job covering all the details and features of the aircraft. Thanks for sharing your time and expertise!

Three questions. 1). How much luggage weight can you carry. 2). The maximum range you can go on cruise 3). And the average insurance cost since it has been branded experimental? I learned in the early 80's to fly a J3.
The luggage compartment can hold about 100lbs with two adults in the front seats. We get about 4 hours of endurance with 44 gallons in the tanks. And insurance varies based on Tailwheel experience. I recommend 100 Tailwheel hours to help with insurance costs.
I built a Rans S-21 with the 180hp Titan engine and 3 blade Whirlwind CS prop 3 years ago. 19:29 free caster main legs? i thought about that, but never saw something like that ever. i'm not real pilot, but fly in simulators from the mid of 90x... probably my english didn't give me all information from video, so this free steering or that things controls by rudder like option? because i really don't want to land with main landing gear turned by rudder:) looks so unusual.
cheeeeeeeee.......... that's legs from another aircraft hahaha
Backing a trailer
We have a champ, definitely not as cool as this tho!
Experimental just means you can't use the aircraft to make money / for commercial use and some other little nonsense bits. In other words just the FAA being The Vogons from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Can you contact me. I’d like to buy a plane. I think I want a velocity twin, need a builder and Pilot. I was hoping they would release the turbine engines but does not look like that will happen.
How would anyone viewing know that you are drinking Tea when you are holding an empty cup.......? Or that you usually drink coffee...?
Why's he holding a empty cup ?
Nope, wasn't wondering why or if you were drinking tea
asking "is thing the best X" is totally disqualifying. Means your content is for unserious people.
Uuuffff so expensive 😢😢😢😢
I wanted to watch a video about an airplane, not some guy with a wart on his face. $316,000 is way more than my house cost and I live in a good neighborhood in the Seattle suburbs. Thankfully I am an A&P/IA, I will just find some derelict and rebuild it. For $316,000 I would be looking for a Jet ranger
What a ridiculous price.
Pretty unique.... there are no levels of unique... it is binary... it is unique or not... I know, I'm pedantic...
To bad it theres no folding wing .
This is just a 34 minute advertisement .
Hyper Rich boys toy
Not so much of a review as an infomercial.
Another reason I quit flying…..
Blasphemy. Those are backcountry aircraft. Coffee belongs in the backcountry. Tea belongs in a harbor back east. For Shame. I cant even take the rest of this video seriously now.
It looks like something from 1923
1943
Be civil and respectful. Unless you are singling out French manufacturers, apparently. Hypocrisy much?
I actually said I love the French brakes from Beringer. I’ve also flown the Flacon 7X quite a bit. Dassault makes an awesome airplane. I don’t think I disparaged French manufactures. They make some impressive equipment. I may have poked a bit at the French in general. If you think that uncivilized and disrespectful, you might need a bit thicker skin.
Not a fan. Build something affordable.
Too expensive.
