  • Nimbus definition: (n.) “a luminous vapor, cloud, or atmosphere about a god or goddess when on earth.”
My wife recently saw an ad for ASICS Gel-Nimbus 25. If they are up to 25 years now, I assumed it must be a fairly popular shoe! I can’t believe I have overlooked the brand for running shoes. The last time I wore ASICS was on my uni wrestling mats. They had pretty much a monopoly on wrestling shoes back in the 80s and 90s, (and now look very similar to one of their basketball shoe variants).
The Gel-Nimbus 25 immediately felt great on my feet. I had a slight concern below my ankle (under the lateral malleolus), but so far, it hasn’t been an issue. The salesman talked me into thicker socks which seemed to do the trick. I am happy with a stiffer sole due to a condition with my left toe (Hallux Rigidus). The stiffness may also provide a spring effect.
Sole Notes: The stack height for mens and women's is around 40mm (making me an inch and a half taller!) with the heel to toe drop at 8mm. The toe angles up where you push off and there is an extended heel "butt-knob" (my term) jutting out 1.5 cm that seems to be the trend these days in the maximal cushioned running shoes. A .05cm channel-gully (not to be confused with the term for where shoe makers do stitching) runs down from mid-sole to the back of the sole. The trademark lower-case "a" for Asics, is imprinted on the bottom of the shoe, so your footprint will leave a mark of the brand…Good thinking Asics!
The Gel-Nimbus 25 are extremely light and comfortable. I plan to use them on training runs of all distances. The retail price on the ASICS website is not cheap, but I’ve seen them available for around $160 USD.
Side note: My wife picked up the Asics Gel-Kayano (30th Anniversary) with special "lilac-hint" striping that change color depending upon the angle. It is marketed as having "stability, but soft and comfy." The shoe features a hexagon-shaped pure GEL infusion for comfort in the heel section.
In this video I also comment on a recent glitch with my Garmin Fenix 7X. I was getting strange multiple notifications about a foreign (to me) holiday all day long!

@@runnersgarden so far so good. Really comfortable for short or long run. Got some scuffing mark on the midsole, AHAR outsole can't protect them😁

The ASICS socks developed a hole already!!!! However, the Gel-Nimbus are doing well!

Note on pronunciation: According to my research, even employees of the company refer to the brand as pronounced "Ay"-sics. The name is an acronym of a Latin phrase meaning "a sound mind, in a sound body."

They look similar to my New Balance SC Trainers, except without the carbon plate.

These do not have carbon plate. I was mentioning that they were stiff, but I didn't get ones with a plate because those are usually "race day only" and thus lack durability and are super expensive.

    Is it true size?

I think so, yes. I love that I can slip them on without lacing, but no rubbing, so blisters. Note: I have logged lots of mileage on them, but have not gone super long I.e. marathon distance with this pair...My guess is they might start to feel bulky or "clunk.". I like them as a hill trainer. The cushion is great for bounding down long inclines.

@@Livhealthysk They are perfect for me. They allow toes to splay and never gave me blisters.
