Sascha Baron Cohen wants everyone watching their movies to be uncomfortable. If you piss everyone off its hard for them to accuse you of taking sides. I'm not saying there isn't any sort of bias because if you look and weigh comments and what groups they don't target in a negative way there are probably leanings. However the most unfortunate things that get said in this movie are the unscripted shots they get in my opinion. The writers give everyone a chance to make an ass out of themselves and some do a better job than others.

      Actually it is often staged!.
There has been sevetal video documentaries of how he STAGE and manipulate and edit things to give a bery different result than what actually happened.
Even boiceovers, where he later changes the things that he said etc etc. And clips reactions from something else into reactions to what he wanted.
So it IS often very staged.
BUT you are correct that almost noone is actors. Only Sacha and some very few others do know the agenda.

You two have been a constant source of entertainment and laughter for me, and I want to give something back. After seeing you enjoy "The Dictator" and this one, I want to recommend "You Don't Mess with the Zohan" if you haven't already seen it.
In my opinion, it's the best Adam Sandler movie. Interestingly, Adam Sandler sat on that script for many years because it's based on the true story of a Mossad agent who faked his death and moved to America to become a world-class hairstylist.
No studio initially wanted to risk upsetting Israel, but the long wait paid off. Sandler improved the script multiple times, resulting in a heartfelt and hilarious anti-hate movie. It encourages embracing your dreams, becoming your true self, and highlights that war benefits no one.
Of course that movie is more relevant then ever at the moment.

Yes, but he lost a lot of credibility in the last 10 years when he almost always refuses to troll the unicorn movements etc.
He is very keen on trolling rightwings. But almost never ledtwings.
      So very much bias.
      His comedy is gold.
But there is obvious underlying agenda in the last years of his newer clips.
And there has been done a few documentaries exposing that he fakes a lot of his vids, by editing things out of context, reediting spundclips to match what he is after to make things scandalous etc etc.
Borat2 was one example where there was a lot of manipulative editing.
      Borat2 movie is funny.
      But it was faked.

  • @Corvid-w3b
    @Corvid-w3b 4 месяца назад +3

95 percent of this was unscripted and was actual reactions from people.
Fun facts: the only time he broke character was off camera when he apologized and explained the movie to the old Jewish women, since sacha baren Cohen is a Jewish person himself, he couldn't go through that scene without explaining it to them. Azamat was an actor and one of the only people who knew what was going on. The Pamela Anderson kidnap bag scene was also a bit staged. Pamela Anderson knew what was gonna happen and she was ok with it. No one else, including her bodyguards knew what was gonna happen. Her bodyguards actually broke sachas collarbone taking him down. Lastly, the opening town in kazhakstan is 100 percent real. The fked up part though, is after they dragged the car away with the horses, the production crew just left the car about a half mile away and the people who lived there had to push it back by hand by themselves. Kazhakstan was initially pissed about this movie, but after it released in theaters tourism spiked almost 800 percent. Now they embrace the movie proudly.
Final thought: hands down the best scene is the rodeo, absolutely no one knew about this at all, all of the reactions and conversations are 100 percent real.

Sacha spoke a mixture of Polish, and Hebrew to give both a Middle Eastern, and a Slavic touch to his character. Which is meant to fit the ascetic of Kazakhstan since it’s part of the Middle East, Russia, and Central Asia.
Most Americans tend to be very ignorant of Muslim countries, and they won’t catch on to words like Yakshimash.
Borat is a very ignorant, and offensive character. So it’s even funnier when he meets a real person who is genuinely ignorant, and bigoted.
This movie exposed tons of people, holds the record for the most sued actor, got several people fired after getting exposed, and led to the divorce of Pamela Anderson.

Definitely watch the second Borat! Borat subsequent movie film....Sasha Baron Cohen is genius. He blends a great story with real people without breaking character, allowing us to see the truth about many people. The second one is better! Can't wait to see your thoughts.

I'm not a big fan of Borat movies because they can be raunchy, but they are funny. I haven't seen this one before, after watching your reaction, I think I will pass on watching the actual movie, I prefer clean humor. I think I've only seen the Dictator one in its entirety. That's funny he goes to a Pentacostal Church (just a guess, but I'm pretty sure I'm right ...if not, then it has to be some kind of televangelist weirdos), you can tell just by looking at them cuz they all crazy. At least all the Baptists, Catholics, and other Christians I know think Pentacostals are nutz.
Thanks for the fun reaction though. I am learning a lot about the Algerian perspective.
Here are some more movie recommendations:
    Simon Birch (1998, family comedy)
    Ocean's Eleven (2001, crime thriller)
    Sneakers (1992, thriller crime)
    Erin Brockovich (2000, drama)
    Tremors (1990, horror comedy)
Alita: Battle Angel (2019, action sci-fi)
    The Net (1995, thriller action)
    Avatar (2009, sci-fi action)
    Contagion (2011, action thriller)
    Hackers (1995, thriller crime)
    No Reservations (2007, romantic drama)
Anna and the King (1999, romance comedy)

The Maze Runner (2014, sci-fi action)

Literally everyone in this movie were not actors. Including the news or weatherman. This was actually broadcasted live during the making of the movie lol. Believe the only people in on it was Cj from bay watch, the fat guy, borat himself, and of course the camera crew pretty sure that’s it may be missing 1 or 2 people.

Sacha Baron-Cohen is a very talented man.
He's an Oxford graduate. Stupid people THINK he's stupid, because they don't understand his controversial sense of humor. He approaches controversial issues which are meant to be shocking, and that's what makes him so funny! He is an Ashkenazi Jew. ALL of his movies are hilarious! BTW, my favorite character he plays is
"Ali G." A British homeboy rapper. Check it out.

This is the best comedy movie ever for me.Also, they don't speak Russian.Ken Davitian, who plays Azamat Bahatov, speaks in Armenian, and Sascha Baron Cohen, who plays Borat, speaks back in Hebrew. He has jewish herritage because his mother was born in Israel by German Jewish parents.

Isn't it true that muslim women cannot marry Christian or Jewish men (or any other religion or atheist besides muslim men)?
I know muslim men can marry Christian or Jewish women, but it is common for them to try and get their wife to convert and raise the children in islam only.

Borat was a semi-scripted film. There are a few known people who knew what was going on, including Pamela Anderson(So, nah, she was not really hurt or traumatized) Borat is a little social experiment in a form of comedy done by Sacha Baron Cohen(Who also plays Borat), and it's idea was to film the genuine reactions of people, so you were absolutely right about weather forecast guy. He was not acting, he was genuinely surprised. xD It's crazy how much ignorance was shown in this film. xD So yeah, some things in Borat were part of the script, some were done spontaneously, and some were arranged in advance by Sacha Baron Cohen presenting himself as Kazakhstani reporter Borat and people actually fell for it. Ali G is also one of his fake personas, he used in similar fashion to Borat(actually predates Borat), and Dictator, which you already watched, is a fully scripted film, but a great satire nonetheless.
