I also saw it with friends when it came out, at a packed theater that served alcohol. My stomach and face hurt so bad...and people all over were choking and gagging. Its funny just thinking about it. I wonder if anyone ever just recorded the audience watching the movie so you watch the reaction. Did you ever see the audience reaction video of Sasha on Jimmy Kimmel playing a clip from his Brother Grimsby movie....they couldnt show the clip on live tv, so they just showed the audiences reaction to them hiding in an elephant.
I was at a Halloween party my freshman year of college and a guy showed up as Borat with the brief case and all. Well, he opened the brief case in the middle of the party and it had a live chicken in it! The fucker was running all around the house 🤣🤣
We must be around the same age. I was a sophomore and I was Borat for Halloween too. Got a cheap suit at Goodwill and a wig and stache. I didn’t have a fucking chicken though 😂
The funny thing is that, in Kazakisthan, despite being a lot of Muslim, the most spread religion is a bullshit local one, in which basically they said that the World is the egg of a gigantic eagle, and that the borders of Kazakistan were drawned by that eagle with its beak. They also believe that the sea is what come out from the Earth-egg, like the red of the egg. It's serious, give a look on internet. The frat boy scene was so effective. I realized exactly what kind of person they were and made sure to detach myself from that kind of behavior in college. I'm glad.
Pre social media and pre cell phone camera, people were more naive about the possibility of being recorded acting like a fool and then the footage being spread around. And several of the frat boys attempted to sue the movie producers, which seems even more laughable nowadays because people have gotten used to having their guard up.
This movie was too damn funny! And much to my surprise, the sequel was actually pretty well worth it, with some shockingly touching and heartfelt moments.

The scene from the newscast was actually a live broadcast and I was watching that morning. He completely passed their security vetting as Borat, and was actually supposed to appear on another station across town but the other station got a weird feeling over the night before and cancelled
