  • this video is not a step by step how to install a bilge pump in a jetski- there are other videos on youtube that do a far better job than I could- This video is an overview of where I installed the pump, ran the wires and connected to power. Hopefully it gives you ideas on how to install your own pump. I did not want the factory bilge and it would cost $300 for the dealership to install. I think this cost me around $150 with all the parts but , IMO, is a much better bilge than the factory one. 2019 Seadoo FishPro, 500 gph automatic bigle, secured with 5200 on the base.

Nice install. I put one in my fish pro a few months ago in a similar manner. I'm going to wait to install a second battery till I see you do yours.

jigz4 fish I am not sure when I am doing the second battery install. But from what I see the kit that seadoo sells looks pretty straight forward.

Great video and information. Something I’m considering on my FishPro. How long have you had it in? BTW, how are those rod holders working out for you?

thanks Ray Fischer. I just wanted to give an overview of how I ended up installing it. I have had the Fishpro since the middle of July. Have about 20 hours on it. The stainless rod holder is nice - I dont like looking over my shoulder to see if I have a bite. I will probably install one on the right side as well.

Getting Outdoors I have the same history as you regarding purchase and time on the FishPro. May I ask why the stainless rod holder versus a Scotty (Plastic) or RAILBLAZA type rod holder? I want to do a little trolling and the reason I haven’t pulled the trigger yet on the rod holders is my uncertainty of the plastic rod holder types being strong enough

@@rayfischer9172 i have installed the railblaza and scotty on my kayaks. They seem to be "strong enough" but i wanted something a little stronger. One caveat to this rod install is that the base is screwed into the gunwale which is plastic so there is some minor flex there depending on which way you position the rod. Oh and another reason i went with this rod holder is i wanted the rod up higher, which you can do with a plastic one as well. So yeah thats where my head was at with it.

How come you never bought the seadoo one?

I did not like the design and hook up. It works through the ignition and I wanted to be able to control when it runs and more importantly when it doesn't.

Have you thought about a waterproof switch for ease of on off?

0.20 amps per day? Better check your stats again...usually electric motors are listed as amps per hour, not by day. It’s amp hour X hours = amps consumed. So your bilge pump should be, as an example 0.20a X 8hrs = 1.6 amps. I installed my bilge pump with an automatic switch, it has an adjustable water level L or H, or timed 2.5 minutes. No water to pump, no motor running. Rule LP900S, low profile, 4 amp, automatic bilge, 900 gallons hour, $72. I have the dual battery kit, ski pylon, ski module, SOLAS impeller with wear ring, VHF Marine Radio w/SOS, added all the 2021 options to my 2020 Fish Pro. Plus, removed the 62cv Chartploter, installed a 94sv with US Blue Charts, has Downscan / Sidescan, added the Panoptix Livescope upgrade, and I don’t fish...RIVIA Racing stage one upgrade next.

Any way to get to the outside of the ski for the discharge hose port?

Not sure I understand the question. I did drill a discharge hole on the side but I am not sure if that’s what you mean.

is it really necessary though? does the ski take on much water when stationary?

    • @learningCountry

To me it is as necessary as insurance. You don't need it until you need it

fair point mate, just wanting to find out, does the ski actually take on any water whist stationary though?

    • @learningCountry
      @learningCountry  4 года назад +2

@@tex1688 at this point, no. I have found water in the hull but I am certain it is from taking waves over the bow or from washing it afterwords. That being said, I have about 16-18 hours on it and I have noticed a fine black line in the hull from the carbon seal. That concerns me. If I were ever to have a breach, the pumps job is to alert me by pumping water- once moving the syphon bilge will remove any water- PWCs can sink- I don't want that to be me :)

Getting Outdoors I also have that fine black line on inside of my hull. I have about 30 hrs on my Fishpro. thanks for the great video. What brand of automatic bilge did you get.

@@daveoates44 thanks Dave. I bought a Rule 500 gph pump. (from West Marine) it is small enough to fit in the hull. I would have liked to get a larger volume pump but that would have created space issues, so the small one I got worked out. Thanks for checking out the video!
