- Shelby, NC is the largest city in Cleveland County and is currently in the top 50 (#48) largest cities in North Carolina with 20,323 people (2019). This great city is the county seat of Cleveland County and is home of the American Legion World Series. These games are played at Keeter Stadium which is on the campus of Shelby High School.
The area known as Shelby today was originally inhabited by the Catawba and Cherokee Indians. It wasn't until around 1760 until settlers started settling in the area. The city was chartered in 1843. At that time the city was named Shelby after Isaac Shelby, who was a war hero of the battle of Kings Mountain during the American Revolution. Starting out as an agriculture center , Shelby stayed this way till the railroad came through the city in the 1870s which created a spike in the development of the area. Later on in the 1920s , textiles became Shelby's chief industry. By 1948, Cleveland County was called " North Carolina's premier cotton county". During this time Shelby was known as " the leading shopping center between Charlotte and Asheville." Please take time and read up on the history of Shelby - very interesting.
Shelby is a beautiful city that has a mix of city and country life. It's also a popular place that a lot of travelers stop by while making their trip back and forth from the Charlotte area to the North Carolina Mountains.

Great job! It's been exciting to see the the square come "back to life" after being deserted for so long, and the potential for it to get even better is SO "there". Once the new bypass is done in 2027, thru traffic will disappear... making the current 74 "bypass" navigable again. So... the square will be solely for arts/entertainment/specialty shops/cafe's - and beautiful! The city, with a large number of historic buildings/notable architecture is now totally ready for folks to make the best of it - It's only a matter of a person's will to DO something to make their own community a better one, rather than whining about their personal closed/ignorant perspective of it. Those who can't see the potential... simply don't want to. So, if ya don't like Shelby... then by all means... leave! There'll be more room then, for decent folks who understand that a good community isn't all about "me"... but definitely starts with just that.

Sorry my friend - just saw your question. I flew this video on one battery. Battery usually last 23-25 minutes. Hope that helped my frind.

What does that mean
Craphole town. I had to move. Nothing there but drugs and poverty. I grew up there and its awful. Absolutely has NOTHING to offer. No good restaurants and traffic is terrible. Again, glad I got out.
