Maybe low tech by today's standards but still full-on in terms of activity. You see it from the HQ side of things here and its a non-stop inflow of orders, as in demand. This is why taxis were speed demons. Not a matter of milking a fare by going casual and relaxed by running up the meter on a fare, but moreso a matter of keeping the management satisfied by knocking off as much of the incoming demand as possible as efficiently as possible.
Hey Gezza, I'm a film student looking to make a documentary of my own about Taxi Drivers during the 70s/80s in Melbourne. My grandfather drove taxis himself all throughout the 70s which is where I got the idea to make an anecdotal doco about Cab driving during that time period. I'm looking to find some more talent to showcase for stories and anecdotes in addition to my Grandfather and was wondering if you might be able to point in me in the right direction as I try to find hunt down leads in making this documentary. Thanks for reading :)
@@Gezza1967Thanks for responding, Gezza, it's not so much taxi footage I'm after, but more so actual veteran Taxi Drivers that I could interview and get stories from.

@@nigelnomatez8534 Hey Nigel, we did already complete the doco but I appreciate your reply regardless. Once we’ve completely mixed the final product, I’ll send you a copy for your viewing!
Yeah that’s the sound I remember from the 70’s-classic video!-Thanks for that!
Ahhh the Holden, when Australia actually manufactured cars in Australia.
Less than half a century later and their are very few cabs around
Uber murdered the Taxi industry.
I thought the tones were part of the two-way radio system - mystery solved!
A taxi historian........yes they do exist.....
How times have changed. 😭

Yeah, no wonder Uber is now killing the Taxi Industry.

Good question Caleb, I’m not sure sorry. Do you mean attaining taxi footage that might be someone else’s copyright stuff or contacts? I wouldn’tknow?
