It's a bloody good chase. The chase music just makes the scene quite tense and even the RAW unfiltered, not even dubbed. Damn good sounding engines of the good ol' days. Also the sound of the ute is just fucking beautiful to hear it in high speeds, not to mention downshifting and shifting it alot! Music to my fucking ears.
Interesting use of locations, 2:00 Cox's Gap Tunnel on the Sandy Hollow to Maryvale via Gulgong Railway and at 2:37 the Glen Davis shale oil refinery near Lithgow. Have not seen this movie since one Saturday night during the back end of the 1980s so I'll pass on giving it a rating. They don't build cars like that anymore, nice 1975 Ford Ltd and 1978 Holden ute btw.

The guy driving the pickup was Steve Bisley. Who played the goose in the first Mad Max movie with Mel Gibson.

I feel mildly insulted that the LTD could keep up with the Holden. The hair style on Bisley was worth another 30mph.
Haha. The LTD is a heavy tank but they did have the same 300hp 351 as the XB GT. Fast forward 40 years and it's a shame to see these cars wrecked.

Why is he shifting automatic tranny? How many times can you shift between drive and over-drive, and why so many close-ups on that?
Locking it in 2nd so it wont change up. That LTD would have 2.75 :1 diff, 25mph for every 1000 rpm.
