    I bought a Zombie a few months ago... this little thing rocks! I get an awesome Accept "Balls To The Wall" tone out of it. I run a Boss EQ in front for a mid boost, and in the effects loop I run a Rocktron Gainiac 2 (clean channel) for a little "oomph" in the low end (these amps sound a little thin without some type of EQ to bump the bottom end), I then run an original blackface Rocktron Intellifex for delay/reverb. Running into a Marshall 1960A cab you'd swear you were using a 50 watt Marshall head. Using 2 Zombies running in stereo in a stereo set Marshall cab would make an excellent live rig. Highly recommended little amps.

    • @alexeimoshonka
      @alexeimoshonka Год назад

      Try the eq in the effects loop too, coming after the distortion it should be more drastic that way (but also won't drive it)

    • @scottdunn2178
      @scottdunn2178 Год назад +1

      @@alexeimoshonka Yeah, the Gainiac took a dump, so tried running a spare GE-7 I have, but although it did add some oomph... it colored the tone in an undesirable way. The sloppy 40 second post on my YT channel is straight into two cabs with only a delay in the loop... shitty playing aside, I think it sounds very modded Marshall-ly. Great harmonics, and tight, punchy low end.

    Love the the selection of these inexpensive mini amps we have now. You can get some awesome tones out of them. I love my Laney Mini-ST-Lion at just about $90 US, it packs a punch and the batteries have lasted almost 6 months for me. Also with the Tonebridge app, you get a ton of tones from your favorite bands. I think it is great for beginners since you can get the tone you want quickly and focus on playing the instrument.

      I don’t really see how adding an EQ pedal isn’t creative. A purist wouldn’t buy a Joyo hybrid amp anyways. Adding an EQ pedal to your amp if it doesn’t have a lot of control knobs on it doesn’t in any way take away the “pureness” of it. In my opinion it takes MORE creativity, brain power, and original thought to operate an EQ pedal properly than it does to operate the amp on it’s own. The guitar industry doesn’t need pessimists. Kindly fuck off

    I have one and it is a solid little 5150 clone. Very "hairy" and noisy (in a good way) just like the amp it is mimicking. It really benefits from having the gain lower and running an OD set as a boost (gain off, volume maxed) to get the real chugs out it. Definitely loud as you said too!

  • @SpottedBullet
    @SpottedBullet 5 лет назад

    Speaking of Amps, My Marshall MG15CD has some kind of issue where as the volume will gradually fade out while I'm playing. The fix is to push the OD button a few times and the sound comes back. I rarely even use that button, maybe it's dust? It's an extremely dusty amp. It actually hasn't done this for some time though but it will again I'm sure.

    You can get the VIVO for much cheaper if you buy it from the for parts section on eBay. A lot of people seem to think it's broken due to how noisy it is but according to Joyo, that's intentional. Unfortunately the tube isn't that involved in the circuit. It only glows due to an LED which you can see when turning it on but on the bright side, that makes it so you can power it off of a CCTV battery though I can't think of a situation where you would want that other than for headphone use.

The Micro Terror (which I own) has three less features. No efx loop, no blue tooth, and only has one mode. They sound identical considering it is a youtube comparison. I like hybrids (the tube pre type) i think those are great because you can collect them and still be able to hace space. I plan to get the tweedy. I feel they should double that in a stereo settup

    You should check out the micro terror or micro dark by orange. They’re similar to these joyo’s except voiced like the classic orange high gains and etc.. have great cleans too

    Do these really sound like the real deal? I have a Joyo Zombie, and it's a bit weak. Is the VIVO truly similar to a 5150 ??? I guess at this price, it's worth a punt ... but the Zombie takes a back seat to some cheapo SS amps that I use.

    Could you check out and review the Vox Stomplab 1g ($69) and 2g ($89)?
    Great Multi FX with some awesome amp simulations.

    the Phones output has speaker emulation or what? can Phones out be modded into XLR-out to run direct?

    • @GuitarMAXMusic
      @GuitarMAXMusic  5 лет назад

      I suppose you could mod it, or just use a 1/8" to xlr cable.

    • @superblondeDotOrg
      @superblondeDotOrg 5 лет назад

      @@GuitarMAXMusic it may or may not work. Phones has different level than Line, Phones is higher. Prior gen Tech21 Flyrigs had the level problem since the Out was for amp or Line or Phones, they solved it in their v2's with a button which engages a headphone amp or defaults to Amp/Line level on the 1/4" out. still, the Flyrigs have speaker emulation, so really that feature is the bigger question with this JOYO on it's Phones out. Also possible, like prior gen Fender mustangs which only had Phones jack out, Fender manual said that master volume could be used to allow for either Phones or Line, JOYO assumes the master level will allow either Phones or Line connection to be used from the Phones jack. But recording the Fender mustang that way always was a fiddly game of level tweaking the knob vs the interface input gain. However since the Fender mustang is a modeller it had cab emulation on it's Phones-out too. Anyways, if it comes up in a future amp review, maybe add a recording from Phones out direct where possible, in addition to recording the mic'd cab and possibly a recording from the "Send" which should be only the preamp's tone, right?

    pretty cool. after all this time, its rare an amp sounds good distorted to me lately, Prefer a semiclean tone hit with a pedal, Bad Monkey or Marshall BBII. I've gotten old, i guess. Miss my Peavey RedStripe SP112 or Fender Princeton 112. Those were easy to dial in.
