Let them play music for a few days without stopping for burn in to make them sound way better.
@@samza9622 I did that for like 2 weeks.
I wonder if with these speakers it's that the bouncing sound around the room is more close to how a Piano spreads sound around the room, seeing as it's a piano makers speaker. Might've been designed for reproduction of piano music as if it was playing from a piano in room?
My favorite part of every Zeos video is the contrast of multi-thousand dollar audio gear, and masking tape being used to seal the airgaps in an exterior door. This man lives purely to listen to shit and talk about it I swear.
I will get around to the door seals just not this winter. I SWEAR I WILL GET TO IT!
Hey, he's got his salt lamp...
@@ZReviews A LIKELY STORY AUDIO MAN
@@ZReviews haha !
Lmao I didn’t even notice the tape and now I can’t un see it 😅. Legend
For the newcomers, Zeos used to fall madly in love with a pair of speakers roughly every 6 or so weeks - he has mellowed a little over time but those of us who saw the active Buchardts downstairs will recognise the mania on show here ;)
A700 still #1 I think.
Buchardts. The first time he did those in the old apartment, I wanted them so bad
I saw the chapter titled "Making these invisible." And immediately thought, nobody will ever know which speakers are playing, in a room full of speakers. Hide a tree in a forest...
That's some brilliant design work by Brodmann.
The way the speaker is made rigid by the speaker grille is clever,
along with all the other things that make this a special speaker.
Good choice. One of the most memorable listening demo's Iv'e ever had were with a pair of the Brodmann Festival F2's powered by an Octave integrated tube amp. I too thought the speakers were weird so I never fully trusted my ears. But to this day I still think about them. Nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks these sound amazing.
Am glad you like your Brodmans. Came across Hans Deutsch (who seems to be the developer of these speakers, all the other Brodmans, and the Bösendorfers from which loudspeaker business was taken over) in the early 90s: in some of the larger electronic stores in Vienna /AT they sold off some Hans Deutsch speakers, so we put in a cd of my choice (some Vivaldi stuff) and in contrast to most speakers there were chellos, violas and violins coming to life in a very special way - but I decided not to buy them instantly. When I was ready to do so they were gone (sold out) and so I started to search for something like that, went to each and every hifi store in town.. and an audiophile in search for better was born. ;)
As a pianist, I am glad piano manufacturers are making speakers. Because outside of the piano world, most don’t know exactly how much dynamic range a 9-10foot grand piano can produce compared to any other intruments. They literally have the highest dynamic range in existence. At 7-8 octaves worth of range, grand pianos are literally under 20-30tons of combined string tension, that are incredibly difficult to record and represent acurately, non-live/digital, through our headphones and speakers. Also super impressed theybare doing high grade piano black lacquer finishes on their speaker boxes. At first I heard the $6K price tag and I thought that was a steal, considering my 2.1 setup with sub is around $2k. And even an acoustic upright or baby grand starts at $10k. Not too far off. Glad I got to see Zeos just be genuinely happy in this video. It’s so awesome when we are able to own our dream things, even if for just nostalgia. That’s what enjoying audio is all about. Thanks Zeos for sharing with us! Now I’m off to practice on my Kawai piano for the night..and if you’re an audiophile not yet into classical or piano music, go and listen to some Beethoven or some Evgeny Kissin recordings! I specifically love ‘La Campanella’ (composed by Liszt), played by Evgeny Kissin. There’s a video of La Campanella played by Lang Lang and Kissin on youtube that would just be magical on these speakers (or on the Meze 109 Pos, Beyer DT1990s, etc).❤
I was right on about my Dream Speakers, Reviewer from The Absolute Sound, Jonathan Valin just gave the $33.8K all new Clarisys Audio Minuet Loudspeakers Best-Of-Show at Axpona 2023 Show ! 😊
Great review Z, this was less of a review of the speakers than a showing of how much you love audio and clearly showing speakers are your favorite out of iems and headphones
He's better at reviewing speakers. You can't take 5 hours placing headphones right.
@@signalshiz You obviously have never tried to record a sound demo of headphones.. Lol
This seems like it was made by some insane genius. I love it. Big fan of non directional speakers.
I remember these in the magazines, they were supposed to be built to produce the sound of pianos perfectly because of the cabinet resonating like a musical instrument or something.
Hmm, I think you need to build a listening room in the basement. I'd go with a 70's style record room vibe with a sliding marble coffee table. Love your vids man.
I recreated the system that got me hooked in 1985 with the very same turntable. Still sounds great
I heard and loved the bösendorfers, the slightly bigger floor standing version of these.
I really wanted them but didn’t buy them and then they were gone
Class D is finally getting respect the newer designs deserve.
Just put a Buckeye Purifi 2 channel in my setup I am in awe of the performance of these new class d amps.
Small, lightweight, run cool power efficient and supremely transparent not cold or glassy sounding great time to be an audio lover…
Congratulations! I got a buddy that recently ordered a Billie MKII Integrated. Haven’t heard it yet but all the reviews are glowing and flowery.
Cheers to all your success Zeos!
Love the enthusiasm and these speakers do sound very natural
I too heard Brodman speakers at a HiFi show (Australia $5000 special price) and thought they were special too. The room they were in was about your bedroom sized too.
Are you going to do something special for your 10th year anniversary?
I haven't been following you the whole time, but at least the last 6 or 7 years, and your channel is one of my favorites!
Keep up the fun and interesting videos!
Munich High-end and a Face Reveal? It will make things much easier if I go out and about.. A decade is enough I think.
Shy boy 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Im just glad he's not turning them upside down or trying to stick some aftermarket ear pads on them.
Bro when I tell you I was a young kid and saw a Corvette stingray, probably 70-72 or something like that. It had a luggage rack on the back and I thought it was just the coolest. I even had a 96 canary yellow Vette for a time. Loved that car. Hope I can get another C4 Vette or maybe even a C3.
I kind of expected Martin Logan electrostats, from your review a few years back. But finding your dream is what it’s all about!
Na those are great but not my dream speaker.
Congratulations on finding and being able to purchase those speakers!
It was his dream for many many years..........
This is really, really interesting.
Didn't knew this brand, and thanks to you I checked on their website, and figured out that the former owner of the brand (back in the 1800's) trained Bösendorfer, which continued the Brodmann Pianos brand, and ended up creating the now Famous Bösendorfer pianos and bound the two brands, before being bought by Yamaha in the 2000's. And then, Brodmann became independant again.
So yeah, I've always been interested by Brands that wanted to perfectly reproduce Piano tone (ATC wit their utterly famous SM75-150 MidDome masterpiece, and, as Brodmann, Yamaha with their NS-5000 in Piano Black as well, and a Middome, probably highly inspired by ATC's Middome)
Thanks a lot.
Love to see you found sanity in the sea of audio. I know exactly what you are feeling.
There is no true "respite" for the troubled...... maybe one day i will be able to............. acheave?
Love the enthusiasm and excitement, this is why we are here
Hey zeos I've been thinking about this for years. Do you think having so many drivers in the same listening area is affecting bass response? I think if you're playing any capable speakers or subs in the basement a few hundred out of phase cones would be moving?
That is one very room-dependent speaker. Like, you need the right size of room and the right placement within the room and the right treatment or lack of treatment so the woofer can appropriately fill the space with sound. Having heard the new KEF LS60 in a few different configurations now, I can definitely understand the appeal. Side-firing woofers, particularly when paired with a wide-band speaker or something coaxial on the front, just gives you an unparalleled wash of sound that provides excellent ambient acoustics. It's good that you finally found your unicorn and have a suitable listening space for them.
My Polk RTA-12 speakers are an odd design the drivers are 5 1/2 X 2 with a 12" passive Radiator with the strange open air tweeters on top but they still sound fantastic although not a good fit for my 1 bedroom duplex lol
This love story is way better than twilight! I`m laughing out loud when Z is in crazy mode, pointing at shitt with a de-duster. Like an old lady, angry at her husband for not listening xD
Glad to see you are still using my amps. How is the gain upgrade working put for you?
Focal Sopra 3s. Those are the first speakers I heard that made me completely reevaluate my budget. $20,000? Oh, yeah, all day. I get it. I went through a two-year process of listening and demoing everything I could find that other Mastering Engineers were using. Nothing ever felt like home quite like Focal. Hell, I listened to a $500,000 Magico system. It was mind-blowing, but it didn't do the thing. Ended up with a pair of Focals in my mastering room. Feed them with a Lynx Hilo AD/DA.
Beautiful pair of speakers! A special set for sure!!
We seem to see something we know in this video 🤔 Thanks for using our cables 😉
Hey Z. any difference in the New HD 660s2 ? and the older HD660s ?
Z you are great. But after 1000 hours of fun audio love.. First time in your bedroom.. I had to laugh. Front fireing tweeted. The speakers are beautiful. Love it.
I wonder if these are open baffle speakers with the rear wave pointed downward. That would explain the small box and weird port.
never heard of them, much less heard a pair but I'm already jelly!!!
I'm sure they look amazing in person like nobody touch them or even get near them or breathe on them.
I'm surprised the tweeters aren't mounted flush into the front baffle or even have any waveguide couplers but apparently that wasn't necessary?
Would love to hear a pair of these VERY demanding and room specific speakers.
Lastly, I see the parent co. is Bosendorfer!
Played a little bit on a baby grand of their's in Alexandria, VA one time...I had never heard such an amazing instrument as it was. The sympathetic strings add such a soul felt depth to that instrument!
Many pianists consider "Bosendorfer" to be the best piano in the world ever made........
From the creators of that, these speakers will also be the very best designed in the world...... these people really know what they are doing, and at 6k, they will be very cheep.......
The very best in the world.....
Like a piece of art... Hold on to them !!!
👍
Can we expect a review of the shanling em7 vs the em5 that you reviewed a while back? I was hoping shanling software/ap control have gotten better and sorted but maybe not. Those units show so much promises.
This has got to be the fucking best audio review channel on RUclips.
Correct 🙂👍🏻
Hey Z, any recommendation dac for gaming&music around 150-200$?
Hey there Zoes and hello from Australia not Austria 😂 ! Great reviews on your new toys ! I just bought the F2’s in piano white for $3500 heavily discounted here normally $12k and look and sound amazing. Just a nerdy note regarding the carpet spikes on the base plate should have both the spike and the ring collar on top of the base. I put mine together like yours and noticed in vids and pics it’s the other way round. Turns out is much easier to make adjustments! Anyway keep up the great reviews, enjoy them over the conventional stereo types (pun) intended. Hoping these will be my last speakers for sometime ? Maybe for you too?
Cheers Nathan
Ok anybody know what speakers those are that are wedged between the monitor and the 590’s in the basement? He’s got them facing the wall.
Weird speakers are fun! Martin Logan Scenarios electrostats. JBL 580s with their silly sized horn. Even Bose 901 are interesting. They all feel like science experiments with music and make the hobby interesting. If you like flat everything with no distortion, great! You can buy that. You want strange, even if they measure inaccurate and silly, that's great too. Something for everyone
articulating ceiling mounted arms coming soon lol.
Try getting ones like the dentist lights are on. thatd be neat.
Those would be good for planar speakers too, because they are frigile and look like they will fall over.
Everyone should love their gear as much as you love these glorious speakers. I'm very happy for you.
The Z sex dungeon? I'm all a quiver.
Z you should jump on Craig’s list and look for used office partitions. Throw some wheels on the bottom support brackets and you’re good to go.
Yep, they also have great accoustical dampaning.....
How are those Starkrimson Orchard monoblocks? Just saw they sell for $1600 a pair which is not bad, but they look tiny which is unorthodox.
I did a full review. These are the best amps in the house. I sent them back for the $300 high gain upgrade. Still on stock power bricks tho.
Have you ever looked at spatial audio labs speaker line up.? I have a pair of their x3 they are incredible
It’s just a great! Don’t know why, I just enjoy listening to your bu***** and it is great!
Love the speakers you have in this video, would for sure consider them if I found them!
You need the Black Ice Audio Fusion F360 preamp to fix the funky room problems......or maybe (if u still have it) the FOZ SSX will help.
Help or Massively hurt. The SS-X review is coming but I didn't try with these speakers.
Given the speakers you have in there I am stunned that the bed is rectangular not circular. That and the lack of a trapeze
Or a wall mounted stock with a stripper pole like his other bedroom had....... i guess he removwd all of his "toys" so we wouldnt comment 😅
gorgeous finish on those beauties.
I've always wanted something in piano gloss, preferably a piano but those seem to cost money, so I'd settle with a piece of wood and why not make it one that makes sound.
ps, they need buffering, and not the video kind :)
saluti Z
Try a large tube eigther cardboard packing tube or pvc, or a mix of each. Zero referance is the word you are looking for. Reverberance and reflection is what it needs.
what do you think the ideal listening distance would be from those speaker for those speakers. you seem awfully close they look cool tho.
5-9 feet. Small window.
they are beautiful :)
if i wanted to design something similar i would take that ported design and make it sealed, still keep the basic principle with one 5% side firing woofer, but to set it to be midrange. because that box is huge, and you can fit four 5" woofers in that box and still make it 20% narrower.
with eq all those woofers could produce bass and you got the same small box size as the original and same basic sound radiation.
not enough air space for four 5" woofers
@@kevinhamlett1400 i have the dimension of the brodmann and i have a set of dual 5" woofers in my own speakers, i can fit two of my speakers in that cabinet.
do you still like your salt crystal light? i want to get one but wondering if the charm will last
The charm being my SO told me she has one in her bedroom and it makes it feel sexy.. I guess it works
Bear hands cracked me up 👌
that intro was smooooth
so cool!
The labor of love speaker. Sounds like a lot of work. But I would love to hear them!
Z needs some Linkwitz LX Mini action. Weird and great sounding 2 way active. DIY tho.
Nice room !!
As soon as you said they’re made by a piano company I immediately thought of Bosendorfer. That’s the more expensive version you mentioned.
yes yes
@@ZReviews so are they really that good? I always wondered about them when I saw them in magazines years ago
All of those speakers in your basement, also act as membrane bass traps… a good thing!!!👌🎼🔊
For everything but these
Check out interviews on world famous mastering engineer Robert (Bob) Ludwig. He built his last mastering studio up in Maine (I think) and it has movable platforms for moving his mastering monitors around by remote control. These sounded pretty good on my desktop headphone rig, but hard to tell anything from the short audio clips. Glad you are enjoying them, but trust me, there are plenty of other mini-monitors around that can do the disappearing act and have more bass as well. But hey, you got a good price on these and we all have to get a start somewhere. You did a good job of setting those up in the basement as well, considering you had no sidewalls. Good job!
Bose speakers from Austria basically. 901ish plus frontfiring tweeter. Dont listen F slim. Listen Ambient Mood Motorola ringtone. Thats what makes me wake up in the morning. Congrats on your nice buy
Very nice looking speakers. 🔊
Musical instrument speakers are often some of the best imo
You have a huge backyard dude. You keep cattle or horses back there?
Weird is the best. Try some Larsen8 or 9’s too.
They are spectacular looking. They look like definitive technology bookshelf speaker cabinets with a kef driver to me.
They maybe the best sounding speaker ever... If you place them in just the right place and I need to custom the awkward port. In other words they suck but you got to justify spending $5k on them.
Waxing high gloss polyester finish is crazy lol. Ur lucky though, polyester finish is the most stable uncaring, tough (but brittle) finish ever, you can apply any stupid product u want and itll survive...you can even spill nail polish remover on it and it wont damage polyester
I’m looking for my first pair of serious speakers and then this!😊
That was a beautiful splaying @ 0:17
You should get them vinyl wrapped in XPEL Paint protection film for cars haha
What happened to your NHT speaker reviews? I remember as a kid they would try to hawk them in audiophile stores.
Please remind us about the C series?
Never did NHT
Wow the sound
We too had a 77' Pea Soup Green LaSabre aka The Tank!
When I buy a House I look at the area, amount of rooms, price , space etc etc Zeos, I swear buys a house based on room acoustics ! Measures the width for correct speaker distance and takes a Mic for room calibration.
Total opposite. This house SUCKS for audio. Except the basement.
@@ZReviews Looks beautiful all the same z. I live in a little village called Worth matravers in the uk and have all Portland stone , it’s a postcard to look at but acoustically? It’s been work . Looks like a stunning view all the same . Thanks for commenting, genuinely made me year! Stay safe Z
@@ZReviews And I was trying to say that your passion for sound is impeccable.
They are beautiful! Even through iPad Pro they sound fantastic!…….get the idea from the vid you quite like them😂👍
I still see those Ohm speakers in back. You have kept them a pretty long time.
Build a pair of LX-minis next.
I would really like to see Zeos review the Sony SS-M7 or any of the SS-M series. Based on their rarity, maybe someday. It took me a long time to find my pair of dream speakers, the SS-M7.
Ive not heard those so the spark isn't there.
@@ZReviews That's just the thing about these speakers. I feel like most people don't even consider Sony when it comes to high end speakers. I myself used to think of Sony as average when it came to speakers. I also had only read about these speakers and I had never listened to a pair until I finally came across the M7s locally.
For me at least, the SS-M7 are endgame. As soon as I had the M7s set up properly in my room I was in audio heaven. I will never sell them nor do I feel the need to upgrade ever again. I am however interested in listening to the SS-M9 and the SS-GR1, someday. Anyway, if you ever get the chance to hear a pair, I highly recommend it. I think they would be able to compete with your Brodmann.
Your room is part of your speaker build always... the same sound you heard means the same acoustics treatment
Why not try flow plain for streaming?
Does that mean the high frequencies hit your ear first?
Its possible and likely. But not bad because it causes depth to occur in the sound.
Dear Zeos, please help! What are the songs? @19:55 and 20:02. Can't fall asleep, you know how it is, I can't recall and I'm sure I've heard them before. Please and thank you!
