For a while...to accelerate straight up, thrust has to exceed both weight and drag. As the airplane accelerates, drag increases, while thrust decreases with altitude. Eventually, thrust becomes less than weight plus drag and the airplane begins decelerating.
I worked on mostly C and D model aircraft in the middle 198o's and they were known and referred to as fighting falcons. Had a falcon decal on the vertical stab (HahnAB). Never heard of it called a "viper" . Not til RUclips made it popular with those that don't know any better.
@@tomcline5631 No, it isn't. All pilots call the F-16 the Viper, it is their nickname for it, Fighting Falcon is the name that General Dynamics gave it. Lonnie King. I've heard that same sound in other videos as the engine throttles up. It must be some kind of pump or venting of gasses?
that noise is the CENC convergent exhaust nozzle controller that opens and closes the “turkey feathers” on the exhaust nozzle opening and “closing” to allow for a higher velocity of air to pass through increasing the speed thus allowing for faster acceleration.
I included links that you should check out showing how the pratt and whitney f-100 engine differs between the f-15 and f-16 so check them out :)

We're screwed, he can't put his sunglasses on.
Lol!
Can anyone tell me? Why is that bell ringing?
Engine puts out more thrust than the plane weighs, which means it can accelerate going straight up
For a while...to accelerate straight up, thrust has to exceed both weight and drag. As the airplane accelerates, drag increases, while thrust decreases with altitude. Eventually, thrust becomes less than weight plus drag and the airplane begins decelerating.
How come they don't make parachute deployment pod a Rocket Pod?
Bad Ass American F 16 Fighting Falcon !!
That sound... that whine when idle...
Multi million dollar plane, 5 dollar visor.
Visor cover
It's MILSPEC so would be way more than 5 dollars - but a 5 dollar civilian version would do the job better
More $5,000.00. It's military and costs are ridiculous.
just tim $2 dollar bell......toss it!
Will someone get the damn bell!
1:20 why is he trying to put the visor cover back on?
Is that a bird at 2.52 or something else.
Mooi gefilmd...
Very nice quality video
Quite a few birds flying around the runway. Hopefully none get sucked up
The beginning of the video looks like the setting up for the fighting stage for Guile
Looks so like a Lockheed Starfighter from the rear while taxying .
Who would NOT want to be lucky enough to fly one of these?!!!!
How about the B58 Hustler
F16 and mig29 to me are the most graceful looking killers ever.
Is this a Falcon or Viper? looks more like a falcon, but I'm not real great identifying the two.
@Bobby Brady no they're not! The viper is a foreign license built copy.
Same thing
I worked on mostly C and D model aircraft in the middle 198o's and they were known and referred to as fighting falcons. Had a falcon decal on the vertical stab (HahnAB).
Never heard of it called a "viper" .
Not til RUclips made it popular with those that don't know any better.
@@tomcline5631 No, it isn't. All pilots call the F-16 the Viper, it is their nickname for it, Fighting Falcon is the name that General Dynamics gave it. The A-4 naval Strike aircraft was called the Skyhawk by Douglas Aircraft but all pilots called it the Scooter. 30 seconds on Google and I'm sure you'll realize that I'm right.
That was a short takeoff, looks like he could of taken off from a carrier without the catapult.
He could!!
Was thinking the same.
Fly Navy
As a kid, he was the first to ride a wheelie on his bike....
hoe regelen ze die nozzle?
MY HUMBLE SUGGESTION IS TO HAVE PULSE AND PRECISION WITH THE HANDS TO OPERATE THE VIDEO CAMERA AND FOLLOW THE FLIGHT OF THE AIRCRAFT AND MORE IF THEY ARE OF THIS CLASS ... AHH THE MOST OF THE VIDEOS USE A LOT OF THE ZOOM AND THEN THEY LOSE IT AND YOU SHOULD COLLECT THE ZOOM AND BACK AGAIN TO FOCUS .. WITH 15 OR 20 X OF ZOOM IS SUFFICIENT ,,, THE IDEAL AND BEAUTIFUL OF THESE EXHIBITIONS IS TO APPRECIATE THE FLIGHT AND AS IT DOES IN AN EXTENSION OF THE SKY ..HOW YOU PERFORM YOUR TURNS AND ELEVATIONS ... ARE ONE OF THE NEWS
In 2008, I was waiting for a bus right beside Nashville airport. Two F-16's took off and went completely vertical. It was no airshow, no nothing. The pilots just did it for whatever reason, I don't know.
These pilots are required to perform max tactical takeoff maneuvers on occasion to stay current.
