Wow.. At 10.39 you stood up and covered some source of light.. Suddenly traces became much much clearer to see..Maybe it would be great to remove that light permanently or just relocate it elsewhere to avoid reflection.. Fantastic videos everytime!

Thanks for the video! I forgot to unplug Lenovo battery and unplugged video connector. Poof, no backlight. Preformed your procedure, diagnosed bad fuse, eliminated other factors and installed new "calibrated fuse". (shhh.... it was really a solder bridge!)

Fuse going bad is really common on Lenovos backlit. User error usually.
Usually people not disconnecting batter before the LCD connector. You see a little spark and the fuse opens.
    Remove battery always.

Fuses never burn without a reason.there has to be a short between ground to power line of the screen may screen cable scratched and it may do again when flipping screen.good job thank you Sorin

Sir, I managed to fix My laptop because of you. It's also a Lenovo thinkpad S145, but the fuse looks smaller and different. And located at the far right corner beneath the cable connector. It gave me 20v in with 0v out. I used wire just like you did, and it's on. Thank you very much. You are King.

I've just been working on an Ideapad 3 and found the video cable had been badly installed during manufacture in the upper shell - it had been routed over one of the moulded parts, not around it. The cable had physical damage including a burned area & exposed wires... Next step was going to be to trace back to the inverter and see, so thanks for the hints.
I might use a packaged fuse for the rework though... :)

  • @laboratorioassembler

Sorin... next time you have to test the "calibrated" fuse using the bench power supply... 19v 1A and increase Amps on a piece of wire to see "effectively" when it blown

OMG, nice video! I've unpluged my display on powered on Thinkpad Yoga X380 and after reattaching it properly backlight was off and camera with sensors didn't work. Thanks to your video, I've checked all (three) fuses responsible for display assambly power and all of them were blown:) Soldering calibrated fuse solved the issue:) Thank you for what you are doing here!:)

Sicuro però poteva dimostrare a quanti ampere si fonde il filo... giusto per scongiurare che fonda a più ' di 3 ampere... sennò rischiano di bruciare le piste prima del filo.

    • @gershonlapokimon4698
      @gershonlapokimon4698 2 года назад

its not about repairing skills its about using the proper tools to repair a device, if you go by the book of repairs it is always better to use original or similar parts to repair a device or you can cut corners how its done here.
both will result in the same resolution.
If poop hits the fan the fuse will blow or the cable will burn, aka same result.

I think the owner messed with the display connector while the battery or psu was still connected.
Lucky that no real damage was created.

Regarding the msi laptop fan repair. On my msi laptop at least, 90% of the time my msi ge72vr6rf is using the integrated gpu rather than the gtx1060, so the fan is off most of the time. As soon as it switches to the gtx1060 the gpu fan switches on.
