Dakota is quite talented in his own right! You can't market this man as being Elvis's grandson if he is not sure. Benjamin Keough was Elvis Presley's biological grandchild and he sadly left this world in July of 2020.

To be fair Elvis’s particular talent wasn’t the kind that could be passed on genetically. He has some natural musical talent, but his genius was a product of his culture; his background, his influences, the people around him and the times.
Music is something you copy like if dad was a cop then I'll be a cop, my dad was a professional singer and played an extraordinary guitar, and I'm an auto tech I don't know the first thing about music, all I do with his instruments and equipment is just stare at it....
It can be passed gentically. It's called a voice and traits to allow you to be musically talented.

Elvis’s actual grandson looked just like him…also personality wise he was shy and polite. He suffered with depression also. That sweet boy. Broke his family’s heart. I think this fellow looks a little like him too. Who knows…but Ben even sounded like Elvis when he spoke…minus the accent. Same mannerisms. I read that once when Lisa and her family along with brother Ben attended something at the Grand Ol’ Opry…many of the folks there who’d known Elvis were just blown away with how much Ben reminded them of and looked like his granddaddy…❤️

He didn't really say that he was Elvis' grandson. He said it was possible because his grandmother used to help Elvis. If Elvis saw she was young and pretty, it could certainly be the case. It isn't a slap in the face to Ben.
Anyone can have multiple grandchildren. I am certainly not my late grandparent's first grandchild. I have about 100 first cousins and many are my mom's age. I have a couple of relatives who weren't married when they had kids either.
The judges played it up a bit so people will watch it thinking that he is Elvis' grandson. The young man was being polite about his grandmother if he knows she really did sleep with Elvis. Elvis had a well deserved reputation with women.
