I really didn’t know that it was okay for kids with neck control to fall asleep at any angle. My husband and I have been reaching back to adjust my toddler’s head when he naps on our two hour drive to see family. This is a breath of fresh air. Pun intended. Thank you
Ugh, I read a story online a few years ago about someone being internally decapitated and it unlocked a new semi-irrational fear in me. I physically cringe every time I think about it. Thank you for teaching parents about these predatory businesses selling unsafe products.
I have to say, all the information out there about positional asphyxiation and car seats is confusing and contradictory. "Asphyxiation can happen in minutes." But... "It's safe to leave the baby in the car seat for up to two hours." Huh?! "Once they have head and neck control, you can breathe easy." What about the 11 month old and the 18 month old that died in their car seats?
If the car seat is in the vehicle and it is installed correctly, and the child is harnessed properly, around 2 hours is fine before getting them out to move around. Children should not be left in the car seats on the floor, table, etc. They should never be in the car seat with a loose harness as well.
Thank you so much! Just switched to a convertible and she fell asleep for the first time neck down (10months)… I freaked out and watched this getting gas!

Good one! And it’s such a common worry so I’m glad this out your mind at ease!

Thank you so much for this! I always worry about them not being able to breathe so I’m so glad to have this knowledge💖
Glad it was helpful!

My car seat instructor said that you want the straps to be just tight enough so you can't pinch any of the webbing at the shoulder.
Yep that’s called the pinch test. We have a video on that too!
@@safeintheseat I saw that, thank you. What I liked about that video is that you showed two ways to do it. I only knew of one of them.
Eat that secret snack. 😂
I know that feeling!
We don't get a lot of snacks to ourselves anymore lol it's tough
