  • The Ford Focus RS is instant hot hatch royalty with every new iteration of its iconic name. But the Mk2 in particular has already reached such a godlike status in the performance car world, that their used prices skyrocketed to the likes of the Renault Clio V6.
With a monstrous 300 horsepower turbocharged FF platform, forgiving manual gearbox, outlandish visuals and an already best selling platform underneath, its not hard to see why. So let's take a hands on look at the car which probably singlehandedly accounts for 99% of lime green car sales in history...Let's review the Ford Focus RS!

this car is just too underrated , i remember falling in love with it when playing real racing 3 back in 2014 and since then ive always wanted one , it deserves so much more love but i feel its been kinda forgotten , only remembered when bringing up the topic of ford hot hatches or so

I’ve owned mine since summer 2016, there simply is no replacement for it. Not without its niggles, but they are easily forgiven when I drive or even look at it. A true classic Ford, hence the appreciating prices.

Nice video, you've got yourself a new subscriber! I am a long-term Mk2 Focus RS owner, owned mine for over 9 years and still love it every bit as much as when it first arrived on my driveway. You have certainly covered the key issues with owning this car, and the content you have produced (the good and the not-so good facts about this car) is very accurate imo. I would say the exploding plenum issue is largely a product of internet hysteria however; don't quote me on it but I think the ones that did go bang are measured in very small handfuls - it was an issue for sure, and was quite catastrophic when it did happen, but it affected such a small percentage of the cars built and the issue that caused it was supposedly ironed out in a revised Ford engine map. Other things to look out for include tyre wear, particularly on the inside edges of the front tyres, and wear to the seat bolsters, especially on the drivers side. As with all cars, buy on condition and history rather than miles - these cars must be looked after properly, and regular servicing is essential, regardless of mileage, especially as more or less all of them will have gone past the stage of requiring a cam belt and coolant change (10 years) by now. Another thing to look for is rust on the rear arches where the body meets the rear bumper.

Truly an underrated car, that was starting to gain traction (ironically) when Ford was about to discontinue it from their lineup. Also, the first gen shared the same transmission used in the SUVs, the Escape specifically.

Great Car if its looked after also rust is a huge problem! main issue cars that have not had mudflaps on the front tend to get the water ingress in the sills which travels to the rear of the car inside the sill and then sits there as the drain holes block in the sills and rot takes over! Ive seen many of these and they all have had this issue! the other thing to check is the rot on the rear suspension components as the rot on these areas is excessive however a car that has not been run on a budget is the one to get just check the tyres when viewing as lets face it you dont want to see budget tyres on a car that is capable of serious speeds and if there is budget tyres fitted then ask yourself what else hasnt been looked after !

Indeed, and I'm very keen to drive one of those too, as well as the RS5. Having driven a few Audi RS models already though, they do lack a little character for me. I reviewed the S3 on the channel already, and it was 'fine' compared to the Golf or Focus

No one does Hot Hatches better than Ford , working class cars.
A Hot Hatch should not have an auto they are not about straight line speed but cornering and getting driver involved. The German hatches have made driving boring, manual is much more fun. Muscle cars with Auto's fine but these no.
Fair play to Ford for sticking to manual and Honda and Renault they are true working class marques
