    So the drone company lost a good customer and has had their reputation besmirched (too bad for them).... this is all worth far more than $3000. They really made a bad decision there. I learned some things from your video, so thanks!

      I don't believe the drone company did anything significantly wrong. maybe they could have been more understanding depending on their business volume and demand for this particular drone... However, the man bought loads of drones that they probably can't return either.. Now they have unexpected money out and a bunch of drones they didn't want that they have to resell hopefully before next year's model comes out. They can't be in business if their transactions lose them money...Everybody has bills to pay..

Kind of makes me regret not diving further into an issue I actually documented on camera with that same company where they weren’t really honoring their own guarantees of sort despite what is written and what they actually say.

My wife and I run a small boutique and this is the second time someone order items and later do the chargeback and plain and simple we are out of luck. Lesson learned here: #1 A business that sold you something does not care or need to about you getting scammed. #2: you got greedy and wanted to make profit; but you didn't do your due dilegence so you got scammed. #3: you went back to the OEM dealer and asked for help and they didn't give it to you and you complain how poor their customer service is? They aren't responsible and this is completely fair. Next time don't try to make profit this way. Lesson learned?

    Two questions: 1) That there are so many scammers preying on others, what does it say about the integrity of humans in general? And 2) My experience suggests that India is a hot bed of scammers such that either a South- or East-Asian accent or name has become a red flag for me. Does the culture of the region regard integrity as a weakness of other cultures, such that exploitation is a fully justified and morally acceptable practice? That is, the fools deserve what they get.

    • @emousie
      @emousie 2 года назад +1

      Interesting take, you might actually be on to something. Trust between strangers varies greatly between cultures. Where I'm from people don't scam or steal from other people unless they're suffering from a personality disorder. It's really sad that there are cultures where you have to constantly be on guard and expect the worst from strangers.

    • @dennischen8887
      @dennischen8887 Год назад

      What? So he can scam someone else when he just got scammed? Legally speaking, the drone merchant can charge a restocking fee if it is on contract. And the drone company can take him to small claims court, file a police report on him for chargeback fraud which carries jail sentence and heavy fines, and even put out a collection on him which will have a significant negative impact on his credit score barring him from signing up for future loans and credit cards.

  • @KnightDriveTV
    @KnightDriveTV 17 дней назад

    Your understanding of a restocking fee is clearly skewed. This has nothing to do with what it cost them to send them to you. It has to do directly with what it costs them to take them back. Once they've been through a shipping process, restocking a product requires potentially repacking, retesting or in some cases having to sell them as refurbished. Unopened helps, but still represents a period where the product wasn't potentially available, leading to lost sales. Companies aren't in business to hold your money in a savings acct until some point at which you decide to keep the product. In your case, there was no real justification for returning them...they weren't flawed, defective, etc. You got scammed but then we're essentially passing the cost incurred, partially on to the company you purchased from. Then in addition, your intent is to harm their reputation with this video. You're putting their company in the same position you're in. I agree their return policy should give you some blanket of security though, depending on how it's worded.
    In the end, I empathize with your situation.

Who will agree to give you an ID with their card number for an online website? Like amazon? I wish honest business people could be in control of the payment processing without relying on other companies to be the judge and jury which has no checks an balances. Its like an insurance company not wanting to do a payout for what they advertised, nobody to hold them accountable without spending tons of money and time.

    It is the merchants job to protect themselves using customer identity verification services especially with high-ticket sales. 81% of consumers who admit to chargeback fraud admit the main reason they do it is because it was easy to do it. Even US based consumers.
    Also, to setup a virtual address you need to go through a notory process with the US postal registered notory business where they go on video and take licenses and manually do a check to figure out if the person is who they say they are.
    However, there is a chance that this person who owns the notory is being paid to create this account for someone else and has no clue what is going on. Regardless this case could be taken to the FBI, not the local police. The police does not have anything they can do but the FBI deals with this stuff all the time.

      This just seems like a mistake as a beginner seller selling these products and services. Chargebacks are increasing by 20% every year. And it's not just third world countries, only 14% of US claims actually even speak to the merchant before making a claim. And 81% say they do it because it's easy. I do believe there should be better consumer and merchant education, however, I do agree customer service was poor and probably a manager would have more power to waive the 3,000 stocking fee especially if you show that you are very angry and upset. Even show off your influencer power. Get what you deserve and going forward know how to hire a third party notory agency or a customer identity verification solution that will help you against 60% of the worlds current chargebacks.

  • @virtuosyc

    Really sucks that the internet isn't safe, even if it's just a few bad apples. 7:58 Yeah, I didn't know that such a thing existed either. I'm from Europe, but I'm sure that people from the US would've tried to file a lawsuit against that virtual office. No way, they didn't make themselves liable by assisting a scam artist. Did you talk to a lawyer at all, or is it just pointless in Canada?
    I think the police thing is honestly the same around the world. They do jack shit in these kinds of cases. A ton of people are getting scammed nowadays because technology is also becoming more sophisticated and with this AI stuff they will be able to deceive even more.
    Especially the old folks have no clue what this technology is capable of. A family member of mine also got scammed, even though I would've noticed it instantly. I honestly didn't even think many people fall for this stuff until it happened within my own family. At least thankfully, they could get their money back.
