Friendly Fraud. Are You A Scammer?

  • Chargeback fraud ♻️💶 or as we like to call it, “friendly fraud” is a bit like “friendly fire” in videogames. However, in this case, it’s like shooting yourself by mistake as opposed to your allies. With this type of fraud, there are always traces that lead to the real fraudster’s identity. It’s like a coin on a string (for those who are old enough); it might be fun, but if someone catches you, all the evidence is against you.
    So, let's dive in…

I'm a bit confused by your points made in this video. Is disputing unreasonable charges due to clever wording in a terms of service chargeback fraud? Is performing a chargeback on an unauthorised transaction (like a child making a transaction) chargeback fraud?
I'm not a lawyer but I can imagine these chargebacks are reasonable... I mean... why would so many people so regularly do it otherwise?
Edit: What country are these laws applicable to as well?

In case of a child it can be argued that the parent shouldn't have given the child access to make purchases

@@tomlxyz It can be argued, but it's not reasonable. The designated user should be the only one using it, especially with an absurd purchase.

In cases where children make the purchase (if it’s a child, not an adult child) then the first few are usually just thrown under. If it becomes a trend then they won’t close your account, but they’ll take away your debit card.

Banks will almost NEVER side with the seller even when a chargeback is clearly fraudulent. It’s a huge problem.

@@lancethrust9488 I've stopped counting.. Tracking sometimes helps, but ebay is usually on the scammers side...
and if you take action against such a scam, it is so much effort that it is simply no worth it, I don't know in which country you live but maybe you can deduct it from your taxes.

Sometimes if not most of the time I think are the banks themselves to make those purchases and then request a refund after weeks mainly on digital services subscriptions. Why? they already know there is nothing to investigate, yet they charge $25 to the seller on top of a full refund. Now think $25 times thousands of chargebacks and how much the banks make. Had a few situations with some Spanish bank that I don't want to mention here but starts with "C" and even If I proved the customers subscribed to the highest plan when the free trial was available at no cost without the need to pay, they didn't care. The user himself also tried to hack the admin email (mine) to send out phishing emails to log in to this Spanish bank for some security bs. What a coincidence... luckily all scam phishing emails were blocked and not sent out. I warned that bank and they didn't even care "someone" was using their name to scam their customers. So doesn't take much to understand was them scamming the customers and site owners with the chargeback fee.

Hey man are you on Odysee, I am worried cause I think RUclips is recommending you less for me. I don't want to miss your content if they try to get back at you for something. If you are not on Odysee please sync your RUclips channel there it doesn't even take much of your time. Keep up the good work 😊.

As a business owner that runs dating websites and apps, and with amazing customer service, we recently hired an attorney and debt collection agency to go after these fraudsters. Yes if you dispute us we will turn you over to collections and even file credit card fraud charges on you depending on the case. If you are not happy, just let us know and we will refund, or give you a free subscription, or both.

The thing about digital parental controls is that the parents might not stop using them.
A friend's sister, at 15, still can't just access any website, or download any program. She will never learn how to act on the internet, so much for "digital natives", just because of the parents' total control of her computer usage.

I've charged back a handful of times. I can remember two pay-per-view charges that weren't mine. Most recently I was at a gas station that actually was charging before any gas had been pumped! It was kind of incredible. I know that sort of fraud used to happen (and still happens in some countries), but this looked more like just a broken pump. I'm waiting to hear back from the station company before I charge back. We'll see how that goes. The total was only $0.35 thankfully.
