Dear Dr. Ong, PLease help me answer this inquiry: let's assume I have 4 constructs forming a variable (example: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management all form emotional intelligence) each dimension has 4 statements if I want to check the moderating effect of EI as a whole (not of each dimension separately) on the relation of two other variables, what should I do? I know that in SPSS I compute the average of statements of each construct then I compute the average of these constructs to form the total value of the EI then I run the moderating analysis, how is it the case in SmartPLS? thank you
Doctor, what if my moderator has 3 variables like (small, medium and big). Everyone explains two categories but I need to learn how to realize if there are any differences between the three categories of my moderator variable? It is very important for my PhD thesis. I would appreciate if you could help.
There is a paper that explain multicategorical which I have to explore from Hayes Andrew F. Hayes & Amanda K. Montoya (2017) A Tutorial on Testing, Visualizing, and Probing an Interaction Involving a Multicategorical Variable in Linear Regression Analysis, Communication Methods and Measures, 11:1, 1-30, DOI: 10.1080/19312458.2016.1271116
Dear professor, if i have multicategorical moderator, how should i proceed. my moderator is not dichotomous. i have product types as moderator. how can i do.
Greetings..... as far as I know you can still use multicategorical moderator for SMART PLS but the interpretation will be a bit more confusing. give it a go
Dear Dr, you mentioned in the video that if there is moderation effect then need to do graphing, if not no need to do the graphing. Is there any reference that I can refer to regarding of this matter ? Thank you.
Happy New Year Derek. I have a moderator named religious event and measured it with this statement. Are you observing any religious event. 1= yes 2= No 3=prefer not to say. How can treat this construct?
Sir , I got a doubt regarding this ..as I know we can check moderation through MGA multigroup analysis. Then y we do this way by adding an latent variable (gender) ...
@@derekong1609 Dr. Ong, can you pls suggest a paper where I can get this info i.e. MGA should be done when we are testing the effect of a categorical moderator on the whole model whereas the interaction method is to be used if only one relationship in the model is to be tested? Thanks.
If my hypothesis is to show the only the moderating effect of gender in the relationship of attitude with job satisfaction, Will we I also have to report the direct effect of gender on satisfaction which you have showed?
Hi Derek, brilliant explanation. Thank You. Can you pls help me with a query. In ,my model I have multiple moderator variables to be tested on one particular relationship. Should I test for each moderator one by one and report the result for that particular moderator? Or should I connect all the moderator variables to the DV all together and run the test ? Please help me.
Debanita Dasgupta thank you.... there are some who would say do it one by one as the more interaction variables you put in the more it will increase the number of predictor variables and hence might reduce the Rsquare....you only wish to see if there is interaction
Debanita Dasgupta it depends...are you.looking to out the interactions in the model...if not ..then just do one at a time...depending on what you are looking for and your journal and university requirements
Hi Sir.. Your explanation is really good.. I have a confusion regarding categorical dummy variables. If I have 4 categories, then how many dummy variables will I create? While creating the latent moderator variable, do I link all the dummy variable columns created?
Thanks Derek. Say i have 4 ground. In case i want to see only an individual group's effect on a relationship, shud i connect only the corresponding dummy variable to the katent construct?
Useful! Thank you 😊
really great. thanks

Rushidi Amin when there is no moderation there is no need to do graphong
Alright Dr..
Hello Sir
How to check moderator effect for others moderators such as education level, income n so forth...
Many thanks
HI collapse your multi-categorical variables into 2 categories and then use the same method and create your interactions as you need them
Happy New Year Derek. I have a moderator named religious event and measured it with this statement. Are you observing any religious event. 1= yes 2= No 3=prefer not to say. How can treat this construct?
Multicategorical constructs is something I have not yet explored in PLS....perhaps you might just want to do category one and two ..cheers
Can't hear you..😘
Sir , I got a doubt regarding this ..as I know we can check moderation through MGA multigroup analysis. Then y we do this way by adding an latent variable (gender) ...
manoraj n MGA is when we wabt to check the whole model by groups
Derek Ong : thank you sir

Hi Sir, what is the minimum t-value and p-value for Categorical Moderator? tq
Same 1.96 for 95% CI

not necessarily unless it part of your study
Can you please give you your slides at @tauhidbappy@baust.edu.bd? It would a big help
Wonderful Explanation Sir
Sir Can you explain how to check moderation when we have three category in Moderation
For this I have yet to explore :)

Debanita Dasgupta hi there you will need three dummies
Thanks Derek...
Will i connect only the 3 dummy variables to the latent moderator construct?
you may do so
Thanks Derek.

Sorry , 4 groups
