I'm so grateful for Alter Ego because as a single mom I can't afford all of the new high-end palettes. $70 for Huda and ND is just bonkers to me! Also you look stunning in these warm bronzy shades!
My son is 18 now but I’m a single mom too and have been the whole time raising him. It was a struggle for sure and for a while I didn’t even buy any makeup at all! I bought a Covergirl concealer stick and a blush and it’s all I wore for years 😂 I was working plus putting myself through school and any time I had even a little extra money, it went to him. But then once he got a little older I was in the store and went down the makeup aisle and remembered how much I loved makeup and got a few things and it started my obsession for makeup again 😂 Now that I’m done with school and not struggling as much…it’s still crazy to me to spend $70+ for palettes!! Though I do love Hudas formula but only ever tried it to start because I wait until the holiday sale where they often have palettes 50% off and got one to try then, and each year get one then! 😂 Alter Ego is amazing doing such spot on dupes with a great formula! I love it!
I did a massive declutter and I honestly decluttered mostly high end. Affordable palettes can be just a good. I find huda 's formula too pigmented. I'd rather have less pigmented but buildable formulas.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I was a single mom. I think about that every time I see a high-end makeup video title. I think about how insane a $70 pallet seems like for someone who is worried about shoes for their munchkin. Love and blessings to all single or struggling moms. I’m so grateful for content creators like Jen who keep it real for those who need it.
The lack of child support enforcement in this country, and help for children and families, is criminal. Not to get off topic, but I keep this in mind when I vote.
I'm so excited Alter Ego duped this palette. I wanted Empowered, it's so beautiful, but I'm tired of shimmer getting all over my cheeks and undereye no matter what I do when I use Huda. I don't understand how she can have such high end palettes and the shimmer fall out be so atrocious.
The colors are beautiful. I appreciate that Alter Ego releases these palettes inspired by more expensive brands. I actually have preferred the Alter Ego formula and colors in the Canyon palette, which I think was a great dupe for ND Bronze. I used the Alter Ego one more than the ND one. I love the look you created, looks beautiful.
For £5.99 i got yhe W7 dupe called Influence and it's pretty much identical to the Huda and the quality blew my mind. The metallics are like butter and the mattes blend effortlessly without dusting away, shocked and surprised in the best way, great little impulse purchase 👍👍
I was very tempted by the PR photos for this one, and your video made it look awesome, but i went back and watched your review on the Huda Empowered and realized the reasons I did not need that one also apply to this one! I can get these colors from palettes I already own. 😊

Helping women on a budget to be able to feel good about spending our hard earn money to get that bang for our buck and not feel left out for not being able to afford all the high-end prices yet still being able to experience the high end formulas for less ❤
Ooo I may have to get that Mirage palette. I love Alter Ego eyeshadows! I have the Coastal palette, and Shadow Kiss, and love them both. Although I think they changed/improved their formula from the two palettes. I think they greatly improved their formula for the newer Coastal palette. I’m sure that’s probably the same formula they’re using in the Mirage palette. Their shadows are SO GOOD, silky, and smooth. That just shows how marked up those high end eyeshadow prices are, because clearly they can make excellent formulas for a much lower cost.

Ok guys I need a recommendation for the BEST mascara. One drugstore option and one high end. My lashes are pretty long but grow wildly lol. I’m 49 and ain’t got time for games or surprises with any makeup! Thanks in advance ❤❤❤❤ love you Jen! You’re the best!!!!
I honestly like the Alter Ego side better! I received the Mirage palette as well and i think this is their best formula yet! Also, when i have glitter fall out, I find using a spooly to flick it away is much cleaner and faster. Great review as always! ❤

I’m in the minority, sadly. I just haven’t liked the Alter Ego formula. I tried the Goddess palette & the Desert Dusk inspired dupe years ago. I just love watching Jen - so - here I am!
I have the little bit older Shadow Kiss palette, then I recently bought the Coastal palette, and the two palettes have completely different formulas. The new Coastal palette has unbelievable, amazing formulas! I couldn’t believe how good those shadows were for that price. I believe they’ve greatly improved their formulas recently. Those Coastal shadows feel smoother than my ABH, and my Urban Decay palettes. I’ve actually hit pan in a few of the shadows in that palette 😮
I'm thankful for Alter Ego because I can't justify spending almost $100 on eyeshadow. It's too much. Plus, I like that their shadows aren't so intense.

I know it’s meant to be a “dupe” palette, but if you can forget comparing it to the Huda palette and just look at the Mirage palette as itself, it’s a stunningly beautiful eyeshadow palette in its own right. And I’m probably going to buy it next month. PS you are always super-duper, whether you are duping or not. 😊

I usually prefer the Alter Ego formula to everything else. It's soft and blends so easily and on my 50+ year old lids I need something that has some glide. Some of the high end formulas like Pat M., Natasha, Huda are too heavy and don't blend for me. I'm so glad you introduced us to this brand!
I'm 61 and have really dry skin. And of course it's crepey around my eyes. I find that some eye shadow formulas just don't work well on me. Unfortunately, it's trial and error.
@@20thcenturyrelicviseart is a safe bet for mature eyes except for the new Lotus collection for some reason. If they change their formula I swear to god… Alter Ego is ok not special. I’m sorry to say. It’s hard to find someone that wasn’t given the palette with codes and such. I’ll leave it there.
@@TracyD2 Thanks for the tip. When I end my current "super low buy", I'll keep it in mind. I have a lot of eye shadow and lipstick to use up right now. And am actually doing so! I'm only replacing mascara 4 months after the first use, which is the maximum amount of time the FDA recommends keeping it.
I wanted to share a possibility for a makeup mirror. Last year around the holidays I bought the Ilios mirror on a deal and I love it! It is a little pricey but I am 63 almost 64 and I couldn't see well enough to put mascara on. Also the light is adjustable which made it easy as well. It has social media features on it which don't help me at all but it might be of use for you. I have purchased a few of the Alter Ego palettes and really like them. I didn't buy this Huda palette because the color story wasn't of interest to me. The eye look you created was pretty but just not for me. Thank you so much for these videos Jen.

I really do enjoy Alter Ego palettes as , much as Natasha Damona, & Huda. I see no difference between them on my eyes. I love Huda, but I'm going to go order this palette through Alter Ego!

Paaarty is one of my favs too. It took me a while to actually try it because on the surface it looked meh, but once applied is actually so beautiful on It is now one of my favorites……I wish I had it in a full size, I only have the mini.
This is so gorgeous- but anything orange clashes with my strong pink undertones and makes me look jaundiced! But there is no doubt this is just gorgeous!
I think the alter Ego pallets are excellent. I only have one Natasha Denona eyeshadow palette. After buying the alter ego dupe, I saw no real difference that justifies the price difference. I’m hoping the dupe the ND I Need A Nude eventually. This Mirage is too warm for me, but it’s nice to see them compared! Thanks Jen!

Hi Jen, thanks for the video! I like your makeup in this one. I'm guessing Alter Ego on your left eye. I'll be surprised if I'm right because I always guess wrong! (Edit: Wrong again!) I paused the video on the swatches, and wow the colors are pretty much - although not all - identical. And the Alter Ego palette costs 65% (!!) less than the Huda Beauty one. Unless the HB formula is a lot better, it would be hard for me to justify purchasing it. And I'm so envious that it's cool enough to wear sweaters where you are. I'm still running the air conditioning where I live, but, soon it'll be cool enough for my sweaters!
Funny enough we've been running the AC this week too! It's been in the 80's here and feels like summer. But this top is very thin and is a crop top so its not too hot, haha. I can't bring myself to wear sweaters just yet!

Hi Jen, thanks for the video! I like your makeup in this one. I'm guessing Alter Ego on your left eye. I'll be surprised if I'm right because I always guess wrong! (Edit: Wrong again!)
I paused the video on the swatches, and wow the colors are pretty much - although not all - identical. And the Alter Ego palette costs 65% (!!) less than the Huda Beauty one. Unless the HB formula is a lot better, it would be hard for me to justify purchasing it.
And I'm so envious that it's cool enough to wear sweaters where you are. I'm still running the air conditioning where I live, but, soon it'll be cool enough for my sweaters!
Funny enough we've been running the AC this week too! It's been in the 80's here and feels like summer. But this top is very thin and is a crop top so its not too hot, haha. I can't bring myself to wear sweaters just yet!

I want to see Natasha Denona my dream Palette against the huda empowered Palette they look so similar in color story ,that's why I never bought either because they came out around the same time and the gold shimmers are not really my vibe but I really like the idea of the 2 cream shades in the Palette ❤
