  • On this edition of #TopRankd we look back at the at the greatest 1st Rd Knockouts in boxing history featuring #MikeTyson, #MarvinHagler Naoya Inoue and more.
    Super middleweight contender Edgar "The Chosen One" Berlanga went the distance twice last year following 16 first-round stoppages to begin his pro career. After surgery to repair a torn biceps suffered last October against Marcelo Esteban Coceres, Berlanga (18-0, 16 KOs) will make his 2022 debut Saturday, March 19 in a 10-rounder against Steve Rolls (21-1, 12 KOs) at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden.
    The Brooklyn-born Berlanga is ready to begin a new knockout streak against Rolls, a Canadian veteran who has a pair of knockout wins since a 2019 TKO defeat to Gennadiy Golovkin.
    The Night of Young Stars - #BerlangaRolls and Xander Zayas-Quincy LaVallais - will be broadcast live on ESPN & ESPN Deportes (simulcast on ESPN+) at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

    I was at the De La Hoya fight with my dad and I remember it so well. It was the under card for a Michael Carbajal fight and if you grew up in Phoenix and were a boxing fan he was one of the biggest names in the state. We were all excited to see De La Hoya as well and we couldn't wait to watch him dominate then when he got dropped we all just had our mouth open in shock, we just couldn't believe it. Then when he quickly got back in it we all went nuts. My dad passed away from cancer in January but this brought back good memories with him, we watched so many great boxing fights together, and it's the one thing I'll miss with him gone.

    I loved to watch Boom Boom Mancini box. He loved going toe to toe and had some of the greatest fights. He fought a South Korean Duk Koo Kim for his WBA belt I believe that went toe to toe for 14 rounds. It's was a brawl up to Boom Boom knocking him out and
    then Kim having to go to the hospital and died five days later. Boom Boom never was the same after that and I found out later that on Duk Koo Kim's dressing room door he had put up a sign in Korean that said Kill Or Be Killed. That alone tells you how intense that fight was. I'll never forget it. Two warriors

    • @SignalCorps1
      @SignalCorps1 Год назад +2

      Actually, the effect was great, but the punch was pretty amateurish. Nun’s punch started from way too far back and took a long time to deliver. That KO was more because his opponent left himself unprotected and left his head in one place for way too long.

    • @beatledan858
      @beatledan858 Год назад +1

      @@SignalCorps1 We agree on those points. It’s likely two perspectives of the same thing. Moorer found his opponent’s rhythm & tendencies and knew he could set him up for, at the very least, a potential haymaker/KO shot. I don’t particularly like Moorer as a champion though, and neither did the 46-year-old grill master that clocked him on the chin that time. :)

    "Big" George Foreman KO 1 Jose "King" Roman - 1973.
    Foreman made his 1st title defence of his undisputed world heavyweight crown and took down 9# world ranked Roman first in just 69 seconds, 4 seconds later he clubbers him down again and then he takes Roman out for good after just 2 minutes of world heavyweight championship boxing. That remained the fastest world heavyweight title KO of all times till Mike Tyson's TKO of Michael Spinks at 1:31 of minutes in 1988. Still non the less 2nd fastest of all times !!!

      Us little guys have to do it different.
      You may have the reach distance on your steps and overall power.
      Little guys have speed to their advantage.
      If you find a ballerina in the ring be careful. He is so used to throwing his hips a hip throw with a hook while he's facing away or underneath you will be fatal.
      Almost as bad as a overhand straight from a heavy weight kinda damage.
      Very short range but very brutal.
