- Here's a strange, uninformative comment I made from the recap in Part 7 while describing what happened when Saavedro followed the brothers to J'nanin:
"Sirrus and Achenar beat him up and left, trapping him here for who knows how long, and naturally he's gone absolutely crazy."
Fortunately, Saavedro is able to supply us with more specific details.

seeing that big door open reminded me of the vault doors opening in Fallout
i had a hard time with this age,and for a real dumb reason too...i must have been franticly clicking everywhere up and down this age for 20 minutes before figuring out that one porthole could be clicked on.lol. Anyways, another great vid dude! :)
Before you solve the electromagnet chamber puzzle, the only things the waterwheel generator provides power to are the door to the chamber and the monitor and lights inside. The circuitry to everything else channels through the cylinder in the middle of the chamber, so that has to be solved before you can ride the elevator down to the airship platform and open the gate.
Besides, the airship provides a one-way trip.
Awesome walk-through man, I've been following it. I would like to point out something though. That little gear room next to the water-wheel, it's actually not transferring power to the door directly (gear on the other side too), if you look at the base of the gear you raise up there's a generator it's spinning. You might already know that and didn't want to waste time explaining in which case I apologize. : ) I just thought you'd like to know if you didn't.. thanks for the vids man!
@halfdude You're right. Once you're inside it's obvious a whole bunch of things are getting power, not just the door, and there has to be something there to convert the mechanical motion into electricity.
well, the gear's generator probably provides power to the door and wires underneath, but the big generator there supplies the rest of the power.

"If you think that's the roman numeral for three, then you're wrong..."
That part made me lol so hard. I remember thinking just that the first time I played Riven. xD
That last message that Savedro is one of the reasons I thing everyone is in saying that he should of been played by another actor, the guy has a wide range which you don't see much of these days. I think he played the part perfectly
Hey, ShadyP, I've got a bit of a dumb question. We know that the power that you supply to the electromagnets isn't dependent on having the lower end of the electromagnet pairs hooked up before the upper end... Is it possible that you could set up the water wheel and generator, fix the lava puzzle, ride the airship, send power to the upper edge, and finally go DOWN into the watery area and fix the lower electromagnetic puzzle to see the entire building rising from beneath it?
@catseye10000 That last message that Savedro gave is one of the reasons I thing everyone is wrong in saying that he should of been played by another actor, the guy has a wide range which you don't see much of these days. I think he played the part perfectly
Thank you very much!
i found the cylinder circuit the hardest puzzle in the game
7:29 it sounds like he says toast
Oh come on Saavedro! 20 years alone? I've been alone my whole life!
(forever alone)
Did I not have crippling social anxiety and trust issues - I would want to hug you.
your commentary is very entertaining. especially at 8:17 - 8:22
@WarthogDemon As I said in the video, each station controls the same three tracks. So yes, the puzzle could be solved from any one location, though I will neither confirm nor deny the existence of a "quick" solution. I'm more concerned with the overall logic of the system.
2:07 is the same sound from the first myst
He's great! wish someone had a Saavedro/Brad Dourif Myst 3 compilation.
I havn't been reading all the comments while I watch this review(I''ve played and figured Exile out before believe it or not; i'm just enjoying watching someone else go through it while I just eat ice cream!). I was kind of wondering if anybody had any clues of who this Saavedro actor was.
I don't know his whole body of work, but I do recall a very similar looking and acting character in Dune;
oh when i listen to Saavedro's speech I can't help getting sad! Poor man, he's just so desperate and mad cuz of this :(
O_O Geez, Saavedro...
lol, voltaic is anoying age
yay new vid :)
DOn't be such a CRANK XD
I actually feel really bad for Saavedro after hearing that message. I suppose you're supposed to grow to feel bad for him though.
