    Do the four wheels and tires on the front of the Case have some function, or is it just a strange weight package.

      It's for packing tall rows, stops the pickup from bunging up. Used a fair bit on grass in northern Europe.

    JD 4955, too light on hp for that baler, lugging too much on end of baler stroke, the other JD sounds as if is is not running quite right either.

    • @petrokemikal

      That jd has 220 hp.. Its heavy enough and has loads of power for that baler..

    This tractors driving way to much, he should windrow 2 or even 3 rows into 1 , and cover only half of the mileage. Driving fast yes, but not too efficient

    • @southwestwifarm3516
      @southwestwifarm3516 Год назад +7

      First tractor is baling what came out of the combine, actually saves time and passes on the field to skip raking and bale the thiner windrows, he’s also baling at about 12mph which they couldn’t do with a heavy windrow

    • @OkieDoke18
      @OkieDoke18 Год назад +1

      Looks like they harvested the field and baling the chaff that came out of the combine. Raking that stuff into as bigger windrow is time consuming. I've watched this video before. They had quite a few baling tractors. Yes was pretty inefficient I agree lol.

    • @crandonborth
      @crandonborth Год назад +1

      @@southwestwifarm3516 it’s completely backwards logic, a rake cost far less to run the a big baler. The extra passes with the rake you will still come ahead on time and fuel and machine wear.

    • @southwestwifarm3516
      @southwestwifarm3516 Год назад +5

      @@crandonborth no operator cost for rake tractor, no fuel burned for rake tractor and no waiting for rake tractor, baling at 12-15 mph is quicker and more fuel efficient than 5 mph and adding the cost of raking. Raking multiple windrows of straw is only necessary if it’s been rained on or has sat for multiple days. I Personally bale a couple thousand large squares of straw a year and we don’t rake unless absolutely necessary

    • @crandonborth
      @crandonborth Год назад +1

      @@southwestwifarm3516 We don’t bale but we run a big JD 1,000 Hp SP chopper and if we didn’t put at least 5 rows in 1 we’d be just out wasting our time.
