Even as a kid getting these, I always imagined that the animal hosts, like the mantis, weren’t earth sized animals. That it was an alien creature, like a mantis. The marines just referred them to the closest animal they appeared to be. Just me trying to make sense of it. But the crab one is beyond terrible. Even I knew that as a kid 😂
Remember the Hicks figure released for Hive Wars?? That was one strange amalgamation of all space marines into one figure.
I do and see it still on card today at places lol
I had soooo many of these when I was a kid. My favorites are the Boar, and the....mantis. XD
You're right though. How the hell would face-hugger attach to a bug? Speaking of which, I always thought the crab looked more like a scorpion.
Finally a sensible comment. You had these when you were a “kid” and this guy isn’t a kid he a grown man with a room of toys. Sad isn’t it.

if your read the comics that came with the toys they explain everything. The bugs in those comics are as big if not bigger than humans.
Actually there was a King Alien in a Dark Horse mini series called Aliens: Rogue, that may be where Kenner got that idea from. The figure looks very similar to the one in the story.
In my mind, I always thought the weird combos of alien and other animals were the results of genetic experiments. Like some Weyland-Yutani lab somewhere has scientists going nuts trying to create a perfect alien to be controlled as a soldier.

Enjoyed the video! Regarding the King Alien, however, that figure doesn’t share any of the same parts as the Queen Alien figure. It’s an entirely new sculpt.

Simple response to everything: the hosts could be snakes, mantis, crabs, etc.. but from another planet. The may be gigantic in that planet.
it would be interesting to see the king in the movies one day(but in a health way)
Actually there is a King Alien in the comic story Aliens Rogue where a mad scientist on a space station creates it through DNA manipulation, Kenner may have taken that idea from the comic.
The spider alien is what happens when a facehugger doesn’t find a host

I found one in a thrift store for 10 bucks
I would recommend to just search eBay for a bit unless you have a retro game store or thrift store

Giant crabs/snakes/mantises/bugs and spiders. Have some imagination man, we're already dealing with parasitic aliens, are giant animals that hard to imagine?

@@RETROORDIE yeah, but your reasoning for being strange was that you don't understand how they could exist. Nothing is really strange about them from a design standpoint, they're all pretty cool. I believe the mini comics do say they're from giant bugs and such.
@@blackdragon5274 lol I mean I collect Kenner Alien toys lol I know how cool they are. The comics they came with I haven't read since they came out and all of my toys I have now are on card lol so I haven't thought to look at the mini comic but still I think some of them are strange lol

Ok, how the swarm alien is lazy to you is beyond me. I mean think about it, a fricken combiner alien is pretty cool. Also, would you rather have a plain alien, or a kick ass alien hybrid. So shut up about saying that the alien design is lazy

Second I’m heavily invested in the dark horse alien comic book universe and I have seen the xenomorphs incubate in many different species and a xneo is a bug almost already so to have it combine with a bug is lame and nonsensical so gtfo
