This is an interesting video. So sad to see the headstones just laying down. Thanks for this great video. And yes, I would love to see more about this!

They aren't knocked down. They are just flat, simple grave markers scattered throughout this cemetery. There are however some headstones that are upright.

It’s the kids that had no family or they family left them in there and forgot about them! I used to walk that trail! That is close by!

The other one is not too far from where I live. I’ve passed by it a few times but the road leading to it is always locked. Great video.

That's so interesting. I've passed by the state hospital on multiple occasions but never knew they had a cemetery for the patients that had no family members to claim their body after they died in the hospital. Really sad.

I'm wondering if my brother, Ronnie, is laid to rest here. How can I find out?

I'd call the SASH at 210-532-8811. It's a number I found to make appointments to visit either this or the other cemetery the state hospital has. They probably have records of what patients are buried there

Don't count on finding anything out! I called SASH, and even though my great-aunt is probably buried there, some rude woman bureaucrat explained all kinds of red-tape I'd have to go through for them to make a decision as to me getting any information on my relative. Methinks they're concerned that their secrecy will be breeched! Too many inhumane things happened to patients there.

My family just recently discovered my moms fathers side of his family and I was sent information on my great grandfathers burial site and if that’s the only cemetery on that property then that’s definitely where he’s buried.

In 1987 when i was 10 i was a patient there stayed off n on for the next 13yrs was home 2 to 3 days a year. Mainly christmas time i had my sweet 16 bday 0arty at the gym in 1994 it was a campus wide party since alot of teens aged to adult wards by that time n id been there so long.. the entire bottom on the hill is pretty much useless the old bldgs are FULL of asbestos littleraly have breathing issues now from just being a patient. There were 100s more stone markers back in the day but they were destroyed by lawn crews. In the 90s there was a news cast where a kid from the adolescent ward told ppl how they beat us and were abusive his name was eric roberts he was killed 2yrs later at Odyssey harbor by a staff member. Thats for showing love to all those lost souls it means alot alot of them had no one those are my ppl i grew up in that place. Its the home iv never forgotten

Hi, If you ever get a chance to go to Helena Texas southeast of San Antonio to the abandoned cemetery there. I have quite a few relatives that are buried there that I keep up. But most of the remaining parts of the cemetery is really bad and has been neglected for years. Thanks

I think this is in very bad taste-my son has been at SASH many times and if I had a loved one laid to rest there I dont think I’d want a vulture out videoing his grave so he can get views…this is sad!

Oh calm down. I bring awareness to cemeteries, I don't do it for the views/popularity.
