VIDEO: San Antonio's 'Ghost Tracks' will be history after next week

- It's been part of the folklore of San Antonio for decades -- a railroad crossing haunted by the benevolent ghosts of children who help motorists across the tracks. But after next week, the attraction will be history.
When I first heard about the ghost tracks, I was told that you stop your car directly on top of the tracks and the ghost children will push your car off of the tracks, but when I went with my friends in high school, everyone was stopping before the tracks and the cars were being pushed towards and then over the tracks. It never made sense to me that the ghosts would push your car toward the danger. The bus didn't stall on the road, it stalled on the tracks. That made me question the authenticity of the legend. Other than that, it was a cool experience. I looked up this legend a while back and it turns out that someone dug through city records and couldn't find anything about a train and school bus collision at that location. Also, turns out that the street names of the nearby neighborhood were named after the children of the people that developed the neighborhood. All that being said, the crossing still could be haunted by the ghosts of children, they just weren't killed in a school bus.
That's because there pushing your Car away from the Tracks and onto the other side were you are supposed to be Safe . I mean how hard is that to Figure out .
@@robertrodriguez787
That makes sense if you stopped directly on the tracks and the ghost children pushed you over the tracks, but everyone that I saw always stopped a couple of car lengths before the tracks and were supposedly pushed towards and then across the tracks. When done that way, you are starting off in a safe location and then you are pushed towards the danger. In the legend, the bus stalled ON the tracks, so it doesn't make sense to start off a few car lengths away from the tracks.
It'ss an optical illusion the tracks only appear to be at an incline to the eye. Its actually down hill. Yes the streets are named after the children of Mr McCreless. McCreless Mall was notb to far from the area. This legend came from the train crash on December 1,1938 Salt Lake City. It was the worst school bus accident in American history at the time.
No ghosts here
there goes our haunted tradition...it was always fun going out to get spooked during October it will be missed
Chunky & Lyssa I just went there last night and the fingerprints were there in my car and it did cross the tracks not once but twice. I also went during the day with my kids and it happened again
They still are there, just changed the tracks but the spirits are still there
@djyondervlogs6894 what are you 11
So, they removed it to prevent the tradition but it also brings tourists and curious people in their town to try it themselves...I would have kept it.
Removed in the process of building a 9,500' siding that crosses Shane Road.
Yet still works and the spirits are still lurking there!
Exactly it's like a Historical Site . I bet Tennessee wouldn't have removed the Bell Witch 🧹🪄 house .
funny. I went today and the car still moves on it’s own .
FlaminBerry same
The road appears to have a slight downhill grade.
@@stampycatfan01lol After you get over other parts, I guess. I have gone over them for fun. It has been years so it may have weathered. Heard about limestone posibly underneath influencing the motion, but idk. Never put flour on the vehicle, but this was a popular spot. People would line up lol

No, it is not illegal. Yes, they can do it. It is on railroad right of way therefore the railroad can do whatever they want with it.
That guy was just joking, you could tell cause he laughed
Born and raised in San Antonio Texas and I know it's a creepy bus story that ties the tracks to it and I love the tradition but it never happened there is no historical facts about it ever happening in San Antonio.
If that's true then why r there names of kids in the neighborhood near by??
It happened in SLC.
Where you alive back then to confirm that .
@@saffron_786Again like I ask this lady were you alive to Confirm that
go ahead and site a news article claiming that there was a bus full of children hit by a train in san antonio. The myth surfaced in 1938, so there definitely would have been a news article written about it. While you're at it, check the ceiling for the word "gullible"@@robertrodriguez787
I heard that a school bus stalled on railroad tracks in utah near salt lake city and a train came and crashed into the bus killing a lot of people. on the bus. This happened in December in the late 1930's.
Ok so if its not haunted explain the handprints after ur pushed if u put baby powder on ur car or if ur car is dirty took pics before and after no prints before but after bunch of small hand prints and when u take pics around there u capture small figures looking believe to if u want but I've witnessed it.
Okay If they say it’s all fake, then why the hand prints ? Obviously it’s real…
These are your own fingerprints. These are created, for example, when you unload your car after shopping and touch the tailgate. If you then put baby powder on them, they become visible. My goodness, is that so hard to understand🤦♂️. You americans are really stuck in the Middle Ages.🤦♂️😆
@@maximilianwimmer2071 Unless you wash your car, or clean it after you touched it, then you put the powder on, then what
It still works me and my family went there like 5 minutes ago and we stopped the car and put it in neutro and we were pushed
1:04. She is super invested in this legend in a kind of Victoria Jackson kind of way LOL.
No one mentioned UP 1055?
If they actually put crossing signals you know what’s going to happen if they were installed they’re just gonna malfunction randomly
True
People im here from the future and they in fact didn’t remove anything I just went yesterday
So if there is no ghosts why are there little hand prints
Those are your little handprints kiddo :)
@@AbelG8781 I dont got little hands😂😂their like 4 year old hand prints
@@AbelG8781 If you washed your car then put power on it, what happens next?
@truck_dude is that a rhetorical question or do you really need an honest answer...
@@AbelG8781 Uh yeh I need an honest answer, I don't live near Texas and I want to know what would happen
It was always fake. The crossing is elevated making your vehicle roll forward
The crossing is not elevated. If you stop on the downward part of about 30 yards before the tracks the car will move all the way up hill and down hill. I'm pretty strong and can push a car in neutral on a flat surface. There's no way gravity Is pulling a car uphill on that spot. Unless the city has some kinda magnetic field setup under ground but that doesn't sound logical at all because in that case your keys and stuff in car would feel the impact. There's spirit's there that move the vehicles.
@@MattsFishingAdventures lol! you people and your need to believe in foolishness. its so amusing! ever hear of The Mystery Spot in California? look it up. the end.
@@livebaitlarry5783 Well here's another mystery what's keeping the Floor in your Mother House from Falling Everytime you Walks
Wish I could've checked it myself. I don't even live close to San Antonio. It kinda sucks I never went there to test it out :(
still works i go to texas A&M san Antonio and its 30 minutes away and me and my friends went for my birthday we did it 3 times the first two were slow but the 3rd one the kids pushed us hard and we did get scared because we were 6 guys in one truck
i went here before with my friends and i saw handprints on our car when it was pushing forward so it’s real
Maybe Bigfoot & the Loch Ness monster pushed it
no thats just your grimy fingerprints after not ever cleaning your car
@@drivernephi-s1l If I was near that location, then I would try it after I washed my car and see what happens
Uh, isn't this an urban legend?
Yeah.
Yup it’s at an angle.. the accident wasn’t even here it was in Salt Lake City and the finger prints that pop up are from the oil on ur hands when you open/close ur tailgate/trunk… it’s just San Antonio people are too stupid to realize any of that..
Well they should at least put a plaque in remembrance of the little kids and bus driver.
The neighborhood around there has street names after the kids that died

I got a Better tale then that . My Friend and I use to Cruise around there when we were Bored and Cruise there one Evening late at Night . It must have been Midnight . Now anyone that's gone there at Night knows there are no Lights there so the only lights where the headlights from my Friends car and as we were driving this White Figure that you could see through came towards my Friends Car and Disappeared . Union Pacific always have a way to just make it look like something else
Gravitational pull b.s. the tracks go uphill.
the overall location is downhill. the road only appears to go uphill.
your statement about the tracks going uphill is incorrect. as you approach the tracks they are perpendicular to the vehicles direction of travel making it impossible for them proceed uphill. in other words, they are horizontal to your approach. the tracks go from left to right. right to left. horizontal.
look up The Mystery Spot in california. ftw.
When we used to go 80's it was a hump. The car was pushed up the hump over the tracks slowly. We got out walked it along with other ppl who were doing the same. well that was some optical illusion.
And I came from corpus christi texas
This story is true I heard about it years ago and I believe in Ghost because I have seen spirits ghost and strange things happen in my life
I don't believe in ghosts. I drive by cemeterys between 1 to 4 AM, nothing happens, no creepy stuff happening
i dont rhink its fake. when i was a kid i came with my family to the tracks and it moves. i thought it was gravity but then i saw hand prints in the pollen on the back of the car. and it wasnt anyone else because the hand prints matched my hands to size.
Wont survive untill Halloween. But yet here i am years later hearing about this for the first time. Did it fix anything 😂
Haven't been there in 20 years
