Carla is not speaking about her personal feelings. She is describing what she has seen in the society. Please watch the entire video before rushing to judgement.
There's nothing to be outraged about. They enjoy what they are, they like black phenotype, they are suspicious and feel detatched by other African countries or general African identity. This is absolutely the norm. The Africaness comes from the colonizers gaze, an outside perspective. Actually the less brainwashed Africans are the ones that don't see themselves just like their western conquerors saw them , "just black"
When Carla talk like that, she needs to be clear. She is a group of them. Even Caboverdiano coming from outside are complaining about those people. After our independencia in 1975 , from Portugues colony we were 5 countries.4 of us started getting more envolved with another African country flags, dresses, pictures. Started teaching at school things from Africa. Cabo verde was not doing it. Or if they did it was very few. We can see now the result those people are very confused they do not know what they are , they do not know theAfrican geography too .Even those are dark skin ,they get a lot of descimination from light skin. They have lot of problem about skin color. It is terrible. I like Cabo Verde Government they are working very well to compare with another 4 countries.

Yeah you can keep that even though South sudanese are the real Black people in Africa but you can claim whatever you want but don't force it onto other African countries
Good thing that you are proud of who you are and hopefully that pride is based on your accomplishments and who you are as a person, and not proud bc you are black/dark skin.
@@pauldeanda4985 Mind your own bloody business. Firstly, as a Black man, a Mandingo warrior, I am proud of my skin colour despite the negative connotations others want to attach to it. Get it into your head mate.
I am a West African that has lived in the West for over three decades and I always challenge people of different cultures/ethnicities who immigrate to the West and complain about racism. I do not deny that rascism exist in the West. But we of other cultures also need to look closely at our prejudice towards even ourselves before we accuse others. Because you cannot expect someone who is sooo different from you to accept you entirely when you can’t even accept your neighbour who is close to you in many ways.
Thx a lot We P.O.C have to unleash/ unlearn this brainwashed mind from our roots, otherwise we will restore it to the upcoming generations, like ever since happening
This is very pedestrian to say the least. Comparing common human vagaries to a structured system of hate that has eliminated millions in the world is really disheartening and a total lack of understanding of the meaning of racism. It shows the little you really know. There will always be wranglings within humans but a structured system of hate that regarded others as semi - humans shouldn't be compared with normal human squabbles, because they are not. In all the cultural and ethnic differences, the only race that came up with a structured system of hate was the white race. And that's what we are still suffering from today. The residue of hate they left behind during slavery that mopped into colonialism is still hurting everybody today.
Literally! The damage done is centuries in the making, almost since the beginning of time when the fallen angels that rebelled God came to onto earth to cause confusion amongst God's children... Black people are the original people of the earth 🌍 💯
I don't think they hate themselves. They are more exposed to "rich" (they assume tourists are rich) African Americans and they have also witnessed the lifestyle of "poor " ( immigrants) Africans. As partying islands, they will choose a lavish lifestyle as they see from the tourists all year round.

I stopped watching the video from the moment he asked the girl (blacker than him and with curly hair) if she was white. Just to clarify, we Cape Verdeans learned since child that Cape Verde is located in Africa so we are Africans like any other African and on the other hand our country obtained its independence on the basis of pan-Africanism, which is why the largest political Cape Verdean party , the one that ruled the country almost since its independence is called APICV (African party for the independence of Cape Verde) PAICV in Portuguese. I am born and raised in America as a black man. Why is it that we can't accept that other people around the world that look like us, gave completely different realities. We continue to try to push our beliefs and our cultural way of thinking on other. We say THEY ARE DELUSIONAL. No it's not them my brother's and sisters. America and Black America especially is not the Center of the world. They were raised in their own way and have their own culture. They don't need to say "I'm African" when they live 30 seconds off the coast of the Continent. They don't need to be called "Black". Black is a United States term. Its okay for them to have their own identity. They are not delusional or self hating. This is how they were raised
black is an all inclusive meaning various shades of Brown- you have to look at the Word Negro Which means Black and how it denotes the N word in America and understand why was Black was better in turning the tables against a racist society as it was back in the day.
They're delusional, throughout Africa there's light skinned people but we don't call them white or think they're somewhat different, that's Crazy. The fact that they don't think they're Africans is super delusional. Black Americans aren't Africans because Africans that were taken during slavery have long died it's been what 500 years ago?? For CV women to say or think they're difference is crazy, the women that said they don't date Senegalese men is darker that the guy who's interviewing her that alone is sad. I never thought of it that way. Although I still somewhat believe that other people who are black around the world have shame, our people in the States have a habit of pushing our idea of black onto others. They had a history of slavery and colonialism but the struggles weren't the same. They know what they know.

Europeans did a lot of psychological damage to blacks all over the world. They instilled safe hate and it has had a long lasting negative effect on blacks around the world.
The media's portrayal of Africa as a poor or desolate continent mirrors their depiction of black Americans in the media. This representation is not only unimpressive but also contributes to a state of denial among black individuals, shaped by the system designed by Europeans. It's absurd that someone can print papers as a currency in exchange for raw natural minerals like gold or diamonds from other countries. This is the core of the problem! They live in Africa and yet see themselves as better than others on the same continent because the Europeans decided to entrap them in a different mindset. Turning brothers against each other is a problem for us as a people.

It is surprising to hear some of them not identifying as blacks and Africans but you have to understand the historical background of colonialism and the psychological damage it did to them. Proper and right Education would free up their mindset and heal this psychological self hating and toxic colonial mindset. However, unfortunately like other parts of African continent there is no political will to do cultural revolution in order to offset and change these types of Eurocentric mentality and colonial legacy
The question “are Cape Verdeans black or white” doesn’t make any sense. What is being black or white? Cape Verdeans genetically and culturally are a mix of West Africa and Portugal, and that’s what makes them Cape Verdeans, there’s no need to put a stamp of “African” or “black” or “white” on everybody, it’s too simplistic and kills the identity of people.
Those girls are very smart and sound highly educated. Of course there are many people in the country who discriminate against other Africans. But I think that is part of human nature. Every group of people have biases about other people. Even in the mainland Africa, there is tribalism. Each tribe thinks they are better than the other. But with education, people ‘s minds open and accept each other.
So you are saying that it is not only acceptable to hate those who look like you but to love those who have historically abused you. Interesting. Sounds like Stockholm Syndrome to me.

I knew despised “mainland Africans” and liked to call themselves Portuguese. You have to realize, Cape Verde was one of the last African countries to gain its independence (in 1975, not too long ago in retrospect). And Cape Verde until not too long ago, had a flag that affiliated w/the African colors. But then, they decided that they would rather ally w/the European colors. So that tells you everything.

Come bro
I am a Ghanaian American, I have been in usa over 40yrs, what I will say is Cape Verde is not better than an Africa. All blacks are equal. You are not better than West African. Most black Americans are from West Africa, and The Brazilians are from Angola and the southern Africa . ignorance is a disease of the infected by the colonial powers.
To be "from somewhere" you have to be directly connected to the area, tribal culture, languages, and food from BIRTH. We are our own group, descended from parts of africa that were renamed and rearranged 🥱 after we were sold. 🇺🇲ethnogenesis happened in 🇺🇲, and we all know how important tribe and ethnicity is to a west african aka LET IT GO
In 2024 ignorance is self inflicted colonialists left long time ago
Most Yorubas from Nigeria was sold during slavery to Brazil. And they still uphold the Yoruba culture and language till this day and celebrate the Old deity they worship prior to there captivity.
This is the reason Africa still remain how they are no progress, Europe is uniting, Asia us uniting.....these knes are just annoying, if you accept Africa, Africa will deny you

Well said brother (from another mother) from Australia here 🦘🌏. We are all mongrel breeds down here but still Aussie.
black is an all inclusive meaning various shades of Brown- you have to look at the Word Negro Which means Black and how it denotes the N word in America and understand why was Black was better in turning the tables against a racist society as it was back in the day.
I'm from South Africa and we're the most diverse country in all of Africa and these women look like women you bump into In SA. I really pity them for not knowing better. Blame the Europeans if you will but all I see is ignorance.
I never thought of it that way. Although I still somewhat believe that other people who are black around the world have shame, our people in the States have a habit of pushing our idea of black onto others. They had a history of slavery and colonialism but the struggles weren't the same. They know what they know.
Slavery did a lot of evil things to our forefathers and mothers who were forcefully removed from Africa long ago.
