That was a crazy good E3 for Wii U, Smash Bros, amiibo, Mario Party 10, Hyrule Warriors, Mario Vs. DK, Captain Toad, Kirby & the Rainbow Curse, Yoshi's Woolly World, Mario Maker, Zelda Wii U, Splatoon, and a glimpse of Starfox Zero... wow...
The Wii U was definitely at its peak in 2014! I remember carrying my Wii U anywhere I go to my friend's house so we can play Super Smash Bros for Wii U together! Even though I had the 3DS version, I managed to carry both consoles with me along with the Wii remotes and my amiibo's as well. I mainly liked the Wii U version originally because of the amiibo support (Before the 3DS version got the amiibo treatment and made it easier for myself To carry my 3DS with me and leave my Wii U at home)
This is an absolutely awesome retrospective. I adored Smash 3DS and similar to you, this is when I really got ingrained in Nintendo news and Directs. Appreciate all that you do
DK being heavy is one of the things I love about DKCTF. The momentum-based movement along with the visuals and music makes it one of my favourite games that I’ve ever played. I absolutely adore it. Regarding Layton, I loved Miracle Mask, but Azran Legacy felt a bit all over the place. I see what they were trying to do, but it just came off as muddled and unfocused imo.
Splatoon, Mario Maker, Yoshi’s Woolly World, Xenoblade X, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse are all some of the best Wii U games. IMO those top 4 make it a better year for releases than 2014. amiibo Festival and Ultra Smash don’t take away from how good those are lol
Smash bros, mariokart 8, pokemon ORAS, tomodachi life, hyrule warriors. I got them all on release. Played azran legacy too. It was such a great year. 2013 was also really good.
DKCTF? Are the controls that big a deal breaker? What do you think of the other DKC games? He controls almost identically in returns, and to a minor extent the original trilogy. NSMBU is pretty fun too!
Now it's time for 2015 and can't really remember but I do know that's the year I started installing garage doors so I know I spent a bunch of money on on video games lol

People say that Starfox Zero is a bad game because you have to use two screens at once, but the minus button lets you swap screens.

Wii U peaked at 2014.
2014 is Nintendo’s best year ever (before 2017). 2015 is Nintendo’s opposite of best.

One Piece Warriors was indeed first in 2013. Hyrule Warriors was 2014 and preceded Dragon Quest Heroes in 2015.
